I’m a bit confused as to the reasoning for why we can only have 2 crafts enabled at once. Maybe at high level the switching costs are trivial, but at low level they are not.

It’s not like being a craft grants a special boon just for BEING it. Sure, you can craft great stuff, but to do that you have to dump ingredients in.

I just don’t get it. It seems specifically against ANet’s goal of stopping tedium.

Thoughts / reasonings please? Do you guys expect they’ll change that later on?

Money sink.
Makes it slightly less attractive to have all Professions at once right away.
Makes Legendaries just that much more difficult/costly.

What i find odd about it is that you can just have them spread out between toons so instead of paying to switch profs you just have to to go through a loading screen. hell you could just have toon that you don’t play but has two crafts at 400/400 since as far as i know there isn’t a level restriction on crafts like there is in other mmos, If i wanted a toon just for crafting in wow for example i would first have to level him up to 75 i think to access the highest level recipes.

It is really unfortunate that they made this a money sink. One of the great things about FFXIV for example was you could craft all crafts on every character. There is no reason to not allow that here.

Reason is let’s say you have one crafting at 250 but you noticed that you picked the wrong one and you would like another crafting you pay to switch. However if you ever want to go back to the old crafting again you can and still have the 250 + any recipies you bought still there. The cost to switch depends on your crafting level.

It’s a money sink, as stated above, and not a huge one anyway. It’s pretty cheap to switch between disciplines – and as stated above, you could just start a couple alts and use them for other crafting disciplines, which is what I do.

If it’s between a bit of money and having all my levels or switching around free and loosing that, I’d pay. But since I have alts I don’t bother doing anything else on each character. Also, it would be far too easy and cheap to max out every discipline if you could do so on a single character, therefore making legendary crafting and higher-tier crafting that much more accessible, therefor those items would become worth less.

Unless you’re specifically leveling crafting a lot, your level, your crafting level, and the amount needed to switch disciplines should balance out. And you don’t need to pay to switch to a new one – you only pay to switch back to one you’ve already leveled before.

OK so we’ve established it’s a money-sink, I can get that – crafting almost always is. I still think the ACT of switching back and forth is unnecessary. If they feel that the amount of money required to switch is important they should roll that into other crafting costs somehow. The fact that I can’t look at all my craftings at the same time is just really dumb if they are going to allow you to keep them all.

If you want a title on your character you need to max all 8 crafts, so its not just a sink.
