Okay have a tier 500 crafting is fine, having new mats is fine, using up laurels and karma is fine, BUT WHY INCLUDE CRYSTALLINE DUST in ANOTHER recipe. It is needed for almost all of the Legendaries and MANY of the Mystic Forge recipes, and about every other thing. It is hard to get and high as a kite on the trading post. I need 1000 piles just to make Bi-frost.

I think this is a very over used material when there are many more to choose from.

Well, you could always salvage Ectos for Crystalline Dust. Though Legendary-wise, I suppose you need more ectos if you’re running short on dust.

Including an already used material in a new recipe is a way to regulate the availability and cost of an item while at the same time depleting the market of a saturated commodity like T6 dust. Because of how dust is acquired it also effects other markets, like ecto, which i think Anet wants to push towards what they were like in GW1- but i doubt we will ever get to that state due to how they are acquired and the scale on which they are generated.

The supply of dust should increase.

Salvaging ectos will yield the account wide MF buff luck item. That’s a good incentive to break down the ectos.

As far as if it’s better to salvage blues, greens, or ectos… or if it’s all the same… no info that I’ve seen : /

I’m thinking that the included ectos in the Luck Essences salvage ratio so that people breaking down Ectos for Dust get a little something extra for their troubles. It should also help to regulate the Crystalline Dust market a little better by encouraging people to salvage Ectos instead of just hoarding them up too.
