It looks like the Cleric and Knight Maces sell for profit if you sell them by using sell orders and can wait a little while for someone to buy it.

the only way to make quick money and by quick, i mean more than 1-2g an hour from plinx is to play the tp. it’s unreliable since it’s similar to gambling, but if you’ve found a niche, you can do some research, get the mats, craft and resell for profit. doing this, i was able to make 10g in a couple hours.

btw, 10g is the most i’ve ever made in a day…(sad that that’s pocket change to some players haha)

I’ve got almost 3g in my pouch and its the most I’ve ever owned. None made from crafting.. In fact Ive had to spend real world money to level my crafting. The whole trade in crafted goods is shot to hell when its cheaper to buy the finished items plus sigils/runes to upgrade my armour/weaps, than crafting the things myself.

ANet really dropped the ball on the crafting side of things IMO. The game could of had something special like SWG, Vanguard and EQ2 crafting. Don’t get me started on “discoveries”. There is no discovery. Its the same discoveries every tier with that tiers mats. There is no way for a player to “discover” something and keep the secret to himself, thus crafting something unique and highly sought after. Just the same stuff as everyone else.

Its a crying shame because other aspects of the game are top class.

They took their TP model from EVE Online. They took their item model mostly from WoW. In EVE items get destroyed. In WoW they don’t. A suit of armor lasts forever. That means that crafted items will never, ever retain their selling value because supply will only ever increase while the number of prospective customers for an item will generally decrease.

EVE has the best MMO economy out there partially because every PvP encounter destroys something that must then be replaced. Without destruction an economy ceases to function.

They ripped off WoW’s “Soulbound” model combined with finite storage space to simulate item destruction , but that model has always been pretty weak. The addition of the Mystic Forge to encourage players to voluntarily destroy items is innovative, but still doesn’t go far enough.

Imagine what WvW would be like if every time you died you lost a random piece of gear forever. It would be terrible, right? Now imagine what that would do to the market for crafted armor and weapons. Not so bad now, eh?

only, this isn’t a loot-driven game. there are no items that grant a superior stat advantage over something else in the same tier.

gw2 is(supposed to be) a skill/dodge-centric mmo. items are for aesthetics and stats are equal in the same tier. if gear is destroyed every time you die, there would be much less wvw. the action would slow to a crawl since after 2-3 deaths you have to go back to crafting something new or buy off the tp.

the economy might be better off this way, but think of the myriad other problems that this causes, mainly player enjoyment. no one will rush into a zerg on the front lines. everyone is going ranged instead of melee. the list goes on…

Ultima Online had full loot killing. It doesn’t seem to me that player enjoyment was less than huge.

Anet has already claimed crafting was implemented without the notion of profiting off it. I believe it was mostly to provide another source of getting max stats.

If you want to make your own gear, go farm the mats. If you want to make money, go farm the mats. The only different is one you use the mats and one you sell them.

There are some niche rares out there that sell for a profit…. how much of a profit…. most things your looking at 3-5s…. I’ve made 1-2g from crafting (weaponsmith and jeweler) but generally that ‘profit’ kicks in because I have a surpluss of one of the required mats. There are very few items that you can buy the crafting mats for, craft an item, and sell for a profit because there are so many people who can craft said items for themselves.

If you want it easy, just sell the raw mats to people leveling crafting and forge your own exotics.
