Q:

Short version:
The wiki give me a great list of what is in what tier but not the area to find them. So is there a list that give my a list of tiers and what area to harvest them in?

Long version:
I recently got to 400 in leatherwork, finished my personal story and got to level 80 (yeah me) and am I now attempting to level up huntsman. However I ran into a problem. I use up all my tier 2 non-harvestable items like small totem, vial of thin blood and small claw ect..

I am assuming that if I find tier 2 harvestable I should find tier 2 Crafting Materials such as Small Claws ect.. For example I started in 15-25 area where I find iron and have notice I started getting Small Claws and Vial of Thin Blood once I started killing creatures level 22+ in that area.

So is there a list that give my a list of tiers and what area to harvest them in?

Thanks

A:

Creatures at certain level ranges are ‘on the fence’ they can drop materials from two tiers. That is why you are still seeing drops for the previous tier in the higher zone. The progression does not happen in lock step since there are a lot more creatures to kill than there are harvesting nodes.

http://gw2craftmap.bteamgaming.com/ has a map of where all the various materials can be found. However, the best way to get fine materials is still killing things that drop bags that can be opened for fine crafting materials. Mostly because those types of creatures are involved in events and events can spawn a large number at once.

Hello. There is a topic with list of some locations/animals in crafting section of guildwars 2 guru. But same animals/humanoids drop same fine crafting item just different tiers depending of their level. So once you completely gathered tier 2 items you need for your crafting proffesion just move to next higher level zone and start gather tier 3 from same animals/humanoids preferably with around 10 levels higher than those in previous zone you have been.Dont expect wonders though-drop rate generally is low. With luck and some magic find gear and depending of time you spending farming them each tier could takes from few to several days. Apart from last tier 6 fine crafting items of course-they are very rare.

As far as farming stuff like totems and other items that only drop from creatures, I think it would be easier to farm gold and just buy the stuff. You will end up spending a lot of time at random drop chances. In that same time, you could farm the gold to buy everything you need and more.

The only thing I go out and get specifically is node materials, i.e. wood and metal.

It’s far easier to farm these things by killing the enemies that drop heavy bags either in Orr or in WvW and in the frozen north. Because these items usually sell for really well you can use them to buy the ones you do need.

It’s also been stated that the only other method of receiving T6 mats is thru the crafting bags from the laurel vendor or if you have a high magic find rating, the boxes from Orr karma vendors.

Recently, there has been talk about how some characters created seem to have a higher chance of drops on the same account as other characters. If this is true you might want to use the character that has the higher percentage (only seen thru drop experience or lucky loot experiences) to farm these bags.

Keep in mind that DR is still a factor in this game so eventually you will be cutoff from drops in the area you’re farming in and if you’re unlucky enough to have been a victim of the ongoing DR bug you may incur DR for your entire account which has no visible cooldown.
