Are white items (armor/weapons) good for anything other than salvaging?! (and are they even worth salvaging…)
I have noticed that some sell on the TP for 2 or 3 times the price a merchant pays. Must be some good salvage from those…

I usually salvage white items just to have some mats on-hand, but if you want to min-max your gold-earning it’s best to check prices on the AH and compare it to the value of what you can get by salvaging, and against vendor price. High-level (76-80) white items that drop metal tend to be valuable because you’re guaranteed 1-3 mithril, with a chance at orichalcum, both of which are in demand. Very low level (1-10) white items sometimes have buy offers for more than their vendor and salvage values because people use them to transfer bind-on-acquire high-level armor/weapon textures to their lowbie alts.

Nope. Salvage them or sell to merch. Salvage would be a better choice for mats. Up to you, i sell all white blue and green to merch.

Do not salvage cloth or leather, the mats are worth less than the pre-salvage items. 99% of the time even selling on the TP is a loss, just vendor everything, save kits for metal items.

Hopefully Anet figures out that trash loot makes the game less fun and reduces the amount of thick leather and silk that drops.

I would note for this that it applies at the t5 level of salvage…. lower levels of cloth and leather are of more value to people leveling crafting.

I think that salvage is a good choice. You may sell the fine items and use masterwork at mystic forge to get rare ones, so white items are great to get some mats
