Why are Loaves of Bread soulbound?
Capital cities baker’s union. They paid off the politicians to prevent competition from Home/hobby bakers.
? Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
After carefully considering the soulbound/account bound items in game, I have decided that someone at ANet has a soulbound fetish and is dating the person who has an account bound fetish. It’s the only way to explain some of their decisions.
It’s because the items to make bread are both purchasable. Most other items require some kind of external element, karma buy, harvesting, or loot drops.

Clearly the baker puts a little bit of their own soul into every loaf of bread they make. You don’t want to give away your SOUL, do you? No, you want to keep it and eat it all yourself.
Account bound I can see. But soulbound? How about being consistent with crafting materials.
I need another level of l2read, apparently. >.> I answered the header but not the actual question.
It does seem silly that bread is soulbound when karma-buy cooking items and the like are account bound.

Hey, hey! My catdemonbull dude is still a cat. …ish. He’s very clean. Unless he’s up to his knees in dead bodies and gore.
…Maybe I’m glad that my chef is an Asura. Techies tend to be particular about dirt.

This is pretty obvious. You don’t share your buns with nobody.

Yeah, I’m particular about who touches my buns.
Especially after Marie Antoinette’s comment about cake following the shortage of bread. Now everyone jealously guards their rolls
