Q:
Why craft on multiple characters?
I like to spread out the crafting on multiple character for a couple reasons:
1. The experience gain for leveling as you mentioned above.
2. To not have to switch professions back and forth on one guy at the cost of 40s per swap.
3. The high level crafting is account bound at worst so you wont need to level it again on another char if it isn’t on the one you want to get a legendary or something to that effect.
Oh, it’s account based? I guess that’s where I was confused. Thank you!

I think you didn’t understand the 3rd point. What the replier meant is that any thing you craft at the highest levels (which ppl care about most) will output as an accountbound item so if say, your mesmer wanted to make a legendary that required a gift belonging to the weaponsmith craft, you can go onto your other char that has it maxed -> make the gift -> put it in bank cause it’s account bound -> other char uses it.
You cannot (for example) have access to 400 weaponsmith on any other character than the one you lvled it up with—you’d have to log out and switch char to craft at lvl400 weaponsmith.

You’re right, I once again got confused. I probably should’ve specified a little more when I created the topic. What I really wanted to know was if the Master Crafter title was account-based or not, i.e. if I max four titles on one character and a different four titles on another, do I still get the title. I couldn’t find anything about it on the wiki, but my guildies said yes, the title is account-based. Could someone confirm this for me once and for all?
I can confirm the title is account-based. I have my maxed crafting spread over different characters and have access to the title.
I think all titles are account wide. so you can max a different craft on different chars to get the title as well.
i think it’s mainly to save costs (the 40s from switching back and forth). i am planning to max out all crafts on my main Guardian though. more levels, i don’t craft THAT often so the occasional 40s if any at all, i should be able to manage. and mainly i’m lazy, i wouldn’t bother switching characters just to craft. lol.

The better questions, imo, are “Why isn’t crafting account bound? Why must I log from one character to another to craft something? Why must I leave the character that I wanted to be playing to craft something on a character I didn’t want to be playing at that moment? Why must I sit through multiple loading windows, taking away from my actual play time?” I have more but I’ll stop here for now.
because the crafts you can take are profession restricted, and you can only select 2 at a time anyway.
I think it’s just a touch of realism injected into the game. I mean, most people focus on only one crafting skill at a time; focusing on two is hard, but not impossible. But if a character were able to craft all 8 skills all at once, many people would only create one character and leave it at that. It might be a very indirect way of forcing crafters to take more than one character so that one guy doesn’t do all the work.
This might not all make sense, the way I’m putting it out, but I understand why they didn’t do it. I also don’t agree with the idea that just because my thief has huntsman at level 100, my level 2 warrior who just started could craft guns at a 100 skill level.
For me it is mainly because having crafts spread out promotes teamwork in my small band of mercenaries (=alts). The other reason is not wanting to pay to switch crafts.
To me, it’s best to craft on multiple characters not-as-much for each character (which is how I prefer to do it), but so that out of several characters, you can have at least one with a skill at armorsmithing, weaponsmithing, cooking, and so forth. Anything they make can be distributed to the other players via the Bank. Although I have one or two characters with at least one trade in common, one does most of my armorsmithing, while another does most of my weaponsmithing.
