Doesn’t matter where you read about the recipes-who cares—you use discover to learn the recipes your toons use. It get more points to level your crafting lvl faster.
So NO!!! Your way—more grind/time gating.
There were suposed to be many, many more discoverable recipes in crafting (the same way cooking is now). At some point Anet decided however, that any newly added recipes will be unlockables instead. Thus it was one more case when a good and interesting design got wasted later with dull implementation.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Because some of us don’t go to websites and blindly follow instructions designed to just gain levels from crafting. You get MUCH better crafting XP for discovering than just crafting a previously known recipe. building 10 of the same thing is just easier from a material purchasing standpoint.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances

I agree a lot, much, totally, ect…
Do NOT take discovery out of crafting, learning the Cook was the most enjoyous Profession of all.
I am more and more annoyed by recipes you cannot discover, but have to buy.
They lately proliferate like mushrooms, worst example being Celestial stuff.
But there are too many examples by now I am afraid.
This messes up the crafting system logic which was at gamestart quite an interesting one.
Every single recipe should be able to be discovered and SOLD.
