Hi…
I have a Master Armorsmith // Jeweler and Weaponsmith and the profit margin for making lvl 80 exotics is so small if i buy off the AH its not really worth the risk trying to sell them over just simply farming orichalcum ore and selling the ore real easy .
Now yu could say farm the ore and that covers some of the expenses but the globs of ectoplasm are soo kitten expensive and the other bits and pieces that by the time i have made the item there is sometimes only 20+ silver profit…when yu think that i can get well over 1g selling the ore for the item…..
I really like crafting and making some cash…do yu think the price of globs and ore will drop as more high end zones are released ?
Can anyone reccomend any other crafting skills that are a good earner ?
Appreciate it if some of you out there might tell me what sells well out of the above proffessions though yu may not want to spill yer secrets

I can only speak for Weaponsmith since that is the one I use the most I don’t artifacer and armorsmith much even though I have them maxed.

The money isn’t in exotic weapons unless you are messing with nothing but corrupted weapons and above. Thats really all you can craft and destroyer weapons but that really getting expensive.

Don’t look at exotics look elsewhere for making money from crafting its there trust me. You have to think of what people are doing. The sets of weapons are basically skins the exotic weapons you can create aren’t profitable because they are common.

What are people doing? 1 thing Ill give you is they are Chucking rares into the forge.

there are hardly no crafting that automatically yields profits. If there were, people will be flocking to it, oversaturating the market, and driving profits down. Actually, that’s what happened to crafting. Too many crafters, so alot of supply for crafted stuff, less demand.

Much more, people just farm dungeons for exotics. When done, next step would be have an expensive mystic crafted weapon, a shiny one if possible. When done, a legendary, if and when a precursor is on your hand. Shortly, noone gives a kitten of crafted weapons, except buy sometimes some of them for an attempt to get a precursor.

There is profit to be made with crafting but you just need to think outside the square

All that I can say is if you want to make money with crafting you really need to think outside the box…. I hope that somehow helps!

Well ye. There is always lazy people who prefer to buy some 400 weapon core mats to craft some weapons like Foefire’s Essence than farm mats, using his own 400 crafting profession. Lazyness is the key to make money , when something goes popular, as every other mmo

nope – can i haz ur stuff? that is the way of crafting. at least you are on your way for legendaries

Two problems.

First you have people who think they’re making money any time they exchange an item for coin, who either don’t know or don’t care that they actually lost money because the materials were more valuable than the item. A subset of these people believe that supply & demand is a mystical force in the universe that is beyond our control and that they must sell at a loss. We need people thinking like OPEC and not like crystal-clutching mystic hippies, but that won’t happen.

Second, some of the components are also used for Mystic Slot Machine “crafting”, and so those items will find their own price level that has nothing to do with regular crafting or the items it produces. It was a mistake to share the items across both kinds of crafting but it’s too late to do anything about that.

I can attest to this too. Though I personally crafted most of my shortbows for the forge while only buying the T5 mats I will say that I bought armor to throw in as I haven’t maxed my leatherworking yet.

Also the excotics that you can craft look ugly as …. compared to other armor/weapons you can get easily.
Why would you want to pay 3g for an ugly weapon when all you need to do is 6-7 paths in 1 dungeon over a couple of days to get a good looking weapon ?

Answer: Transmutation for stats. The look you want may not come with the stats you want.

As stated above there is profit there but no1 will just give you the answer since most people who figured it out strained through collecting data on sale, mats and so on to come up with the items that make them money. yes exotics may be garbage for making a profit but rather than grieve over how dismal they are look for some website that show what people are buying that can be profitable and craft them. as alot of people have said think outside the box.
