Why would anyone make the pistol Lyss?
It is likely an oversight on ANet’s part. I would consider this a bug.
In the future, I also wouldn’t be half surprised if they made a Mystic Forge recipe that required both pistols, and created another pistol with a unique skin called Lyssa. It seems almost too obvious to pass up for them.
Thanks for the answer – was wondering if I was missing something there.
Probably because one requires Orichalcum and one requires Ancient Wood. Obviously, you’d need more Wood than Orichalcum so the Coins is probably the idea to balance out the materials required.

Too easy, make it a Twin barreled pistol with two females intertwining up the sides, both looking different from one another and have it shoot chaos-like bullets.
I think the real difference is that one is a spectral type, while one has particle effects. Ironically, I think the cheaper of the two is better looking. Why would you want a spectral piston that has so little detail to begin with when you can have some sweet purple particles from a pretty skitteny pistol.
I thought they take the same amount of wood or ore to create.. 6 each per barrel or frame. I might be wrong.
Also, I know the wiki says 100 coins for Lyss, but when I tried the ingredients in the forge a couple weeks ago (didn’t make the weapon though) it appeared to only require 50 coins for Lyss. Again, I may be mistaken. I’ll test again tonight.
Which one has particle effects? So little information about this out there. If anyone knows the specific differences between the two I would love to know.
It appears that Lyss only requires 50 coins as well. See screenshot.
Good to know, thanks for checking
Edit : I updated the wiki to reflect the correct recipe.
