Hi,
i was wondering what recipe this is:

when i combine an ancient staff head, ancient staff shaft and ecto in the artificer discovery tab, it says it will be a lvl 400 recipe. However i have close to all slots in the bank-collectable tab filled and don’t have a 4th ingredient.
Essence of Luck doesn’t match and i just assume that ascendet crafting mats wont work either since the recipe is rank 400 and not 450. Can anyone help out?

I believe the fourth slot need to be filled with one of the inscriptions that you can get from salvaging exotic items. Using one of those basically demand an extra 5 ecto for the combine to work. I guess Anet thought it would’ve been too valuable a salvage drop otherwise.

I’ve run in to this same thing with greatsword components. I had a regular berserker orichalcum inscription, but I couldn’t add it to the fourth box (note, it says there are 7 undiscovered items with the blade/hilt/ectoplasm). Are only some inscriptions able to go in there?

I have seen this too, and tried all I could to figure it out. I have made the following observations:
This combination works with any weapon
There are always 7 undiscovered recipes
There are 7 craftable inscriptions

Any lvl of certainty on this or just assumption…and are there 7 inscriptions that you can only get from slavaging?

Just confirmed it. The recipe is with one of the salvage-only inscriptions.
