So i was looking up jeweler crafting mats because since i got a few orichalcum i thought i might start putting together the items needed to make some exotic jewelry.

Keep in mind these are only exotics folks, they are not infused nor do they have anywhere close to the stats that legendaries have.

So I looked it up and low and behold I need 1 glob of ecto per exquisite jewel 5 of these jewels per piece of exotic jewelry right. That’s a tad extreme when even the candycorn jewelry didn’t require so much.

So I looked up the next best thing, the rares. Embellished jewels actually use globs of ectoplasm and require 3 embellished jewels per jewelry piece. REALLY?

Why would anyone make rares when it takes just as many almost impossible to find globs of ectoplasm to put together the exotics?

This makes no logical sense.

I’m a huntsman as well so I looked that up. Apparently, the requirement for globs of ectoplasm for rare level 80 items is only required for jewelers.

So I ask you. Someone please explain to me why this is solely a requirement for jewelers and how this is in any way balanced if none of the other disciplines are required to have a glob of ecto per dowel or sigil or rune or any other thing they need to make rares until they can collect the extremely difficult to find mats to make an exotic set?

Don’t waste your time with the rares, as you say you still need lots of mats, just focus on the exotics.

The mats really aren’t that much, if you farm the ori, you just need 5 orbs (between 2g80 and about 8 depending on what you need) and 5 ectos. I admit ectos seem to soar but hopefully you’ve been scavenging your rares you’ve picked up (or sold for more money) and have a few saved up.

Take it slowly, there’s no rush to get all your gear.

On topic – I don’t understand why the rares are like that, that’s why I ignored them completely.

It is very weird that rare jewelry requires ecto’s when all the other crafts(rare versions) don’t. Again no rush getting your exotic jewelry, and since southsun cove is here you can grab that rich orichalcum node pretty easily if you avoid the champion.

each exotic piece requires 5 ecto’s and 5 orbs. In ore(in ingots) 32(16) ori for amulet, 30(15) for rings, 28(14) for earrings.

It’s jewelry. It’s not nearly as easy to obtain good jewelry as it is good anything else. That’s why the crafting costs are so much higher. Think about how many rare/exotic weapon/armor pieces you’ve obtained thus far compared to jewelry, I’d put money on at least a 10:1 ratio. I know that’s how it works out for me and everyone I talk to.

I think its to make up for the fact that the rare mats for the other professions take 15 fine mats. Yours take 3 gems.

I’ve never gotten a jewelry drop, had to do the karma vendors to get my stuff until I could craft it myself. Finally starting to be able to craft my exotic stuff but the ectos are slowing me down quite a bit. I don’t like to buy off the TP if I don’t have to so it takes me a little longer but I have the patience so it’s ok.

I wanted to. But I still had to use globs of ectoplasm to get my jeweler to 400 to even be able to make the exotics. It was annoying.

I currently have five characters that hit level 80 in the last week or so, and getting them all up to par with armor and weapons has been expensive. But they can all at least wear rare level 80 armor and use rare level 80 weapons. Jewelry? Still at rare level 65 because I can’t afford the ectos.

You’ve got plenty of time to grind a few rares or some money for ectos. Those upgraded jewel slots aren’t going to stop you from getting them.

I love all these people who are so optomistic about rare drops.

Since they did whatever they did a month ago to the drop rates of both rares and ectos outside of dungeons, and whatever they did to MF to completely break it with no explanation, farming ectos is almost impossible for some.
