corrupted lodestones drop rate
mate, all of use experienced drastic lowering of drop rates for everything, not only lodestones. ANet has yet to take a stance on this.

It’s getting stupid. I started with my legendary 3 months ago and it’s getting harder and harder to get anything. I don’t care if it’s supposed to be a long term goal, a dedicated player, if he so chose, should be allowed to farm, even if devs don’t consider it fun. It’s a damn MMO, farming is like the core of all MMOs.
Dont talk me about MF because i am full stuff MF with approximately 150% MF.
MF is offically broken. I think there’s an official statement somewhere.
Farmed for days with MF, not a single Lodestone.
Killed a Corrupted Quaggan on my way to HotW dungeon in my regular, non-MF equipment an lo’ behold, a Corrupted Lodestone.
Do you even lift, bro?
Actually the information you have taken is not reliable at all. A considerable sample would consist of hundreds of hours of farming considering the rarity of the item
I farmed there for a few hours a couple of times to see the issue, i’ve never seen a corrupted lodestone drop ever, i do not use Magic Find gear and it was a test to see what a casual player would receive (obviously nothing)
To me this is unacceptable and does not fit with “you don’t need to grind in Guildwars 2”
I never have understood this to be honest. Its an area that you have to farm/grind to get what is needed. There is more farming/grinding in this game than I ever had to do in even…That big grindy MMO that shall remain nameless… I know it sounds defeatist, but I’ve long since given up trying to find corrupted lodestones because the grind involved in finding them puts me flat to sleep on the keyboard and the hours of mindless grinding monsters to receive just one is patently ridiculous.
Why don’t you guys just play the game for whatever drops, sell the good stuff on TP (or are you saying nothing worth selling ever drops for you?), complement that with some smart TP flipping and simply buy whatever mats you need? I sure don’t intend to grind my rear off for months when I can spend that time just enjoying the game. I mean… what’s the point in getting the item you want if you make yourself hate the game in the process?

LOL, have you tried to drop enough blue/green junk worth TPing to get enough gold to buy, for example, 100 Charged Lodestones? Since Lost Shores patch I do play TP with whatever valuable I drop for sell (and shows at least a possiblility to sell on TP higher than vendor value) and I made about 55g and that’s including event rewards and junk I sold to vendor. Oh, few gold came also from few lodestones I got from MF while doing clover recepies. Tell me it is enough if you consider current TP prices on Lodestones, T6 mats and Precursors. OFC you could say it is enough to just play but point is that the only thing I didn’t do in this game is getting precursor. Occasional WvWvW or dungeon with friends does not fill my “sense of accomplishment” bar at all.
As far as hate for the game is concerned. I enjoy it still just because I do not pay monthly fee. If I had to pay for it and still getting nowhere with poor loot as it is now I would play any other game instead. With so much grind involved to get anywhere it starts to feel more like a job than entertaiment.
Heck, I played many F2P games that were all about grind and they all felt better than GW2 feel now. At least I knew that even if I dont drop something I wanted I will grind enough cash to just buy it. In reasonable time.

You can start trading on the TP with 55 gold, honestly if you’re looking for profit that is the best way, if not as interesting as fighting stuff. And flipping TP doesn’t mean selling your loot there. It means buying stuff for cheap on TP and then selling it again for profit. Some people spend whole days there and with enough seed money and smart investments you can generate a healthy revenue.
You know those mega billionaires in EvE Online? Market traders, every one of them. Hell, market trading was always the smartest way to get ingame cash in any game with a player-run market. Grinding is designed to be slow and there is no way around it. It is a necessary mechanic to ensure that rare and legendary items remain rare and legendary. Otherwise you get the Jedi Syndrome… you know, where everyone and their dog is a Jedi, being a Jedi doesn’t mean anything anymore.

Good idea but I’d rather hate to spend my time watching TP prices and hunting for opportunities than actually playing a game. I have no problem with slow progress as long as it is a progress. If I wanted to play some economic game my choice would be quite different, right?
TBH it is not all about legendary. I only puruse this as one of many goals but problem is it is soo time and resource consuming that if you decide to make it you are basically cut off from any other activity in this game.
I really cannot point where the real problem is but something does not feel right at the moment. Is it bugged or deliberately messed DR or RNG? Dunno really but from my long experience with MMOs this one is deffo the worst one in terms of acquiring stuff. Also, it definately felt better before Lost Shores patch otherwise how I could level all crafts and equip my char with full exotics without having more than 1g at a time from “normal” play in my bank?

Anet might have changed the drop rates because they have measured people acquire high-end gear faster than planned. This is common in new games, there is really no way to predict how the game mechanics will hold when subjected to a large playerbase and things inevitably get changed.
As for grind and RNG. I mentioned it before in another thread, RNG is the most reliable way to limit availability of certain items because it is based on pure probability mathematics and thus easy to adjust and control, plus it is impervious to player cooperation (online guides) as opposed to quantity systems (where mats are easy to obtain but you need a TON of them, for example EvE Online) or purely puzzle or difficulty based systems (which can be easily farmed either via player cooperation or online guides, basically WoW).
Now, I would love to see a new, creative way to tackle rare or difficult to get item acquisition, perhaps by introducing some sort of personalized procedurally generated questing content requiring players to display a certain high degree of playing skill, but I can understand why ANet went with RNG. For a new game it is a good choice, from a developer’s point of view of course.
Personally I plan on making at least one legendary, but I fully expect it will take me a long long time. Fortunately, this game doesn’t have a subscription fee. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy the game and get what gear I can (besides some exotics look way cooler than certain legendaries, so there is definitely a way to pimp out your character without going all the way with gear treadmill).

@Gaudrath
Agree with all you say but at least some explanation or confirmation from ANet about drop rates reduction would be nice. I don’t mind grinding but if I am suffering from mechanisms designed to prevent botting I would like to know it.
As I understand a regular player farming on purpose does not differ from a bot in terms of acquiring goods, only the time involved is different (well in some cases :P ).
Another side is that some measures taken against bots can prevent casual/semi-hardcore players from achieving some goals. It can’t be that some DR mechanism basically shuts down any drops after playing a game for more than a set time, right?
Again, the case is not RNG here. That’s my opinion here but it seems to be shared among large number of people.

Hi..i have the same problem with the corrupted loadstones…i use to get 3-5 a day…and now in 3 day i got 0 loadstones….so why are you making the game imposible? I need 100 for my legendary…so now i have to farm cof to buy them becuse its imposible now to get them…3 day o farming and nothing thats not cool..lost so much time and nothing..and i got MF and i got loadstones with out MF..
Whenever I go there I farm for no more than an hour. I generally have around 160% MF in total. First few times I went, I didn’t get any lodestones. After that they just started dropping for me, usually get 1 or 2, sometimes I get nothing. One time I got 3.
I have been farming there for a long time, and i have not really noticed a nerf. but i am sure i know where the problem is. With the bots, the mobs died quicker, meaning more kills per hour. Thats why you get “less” lodestones now.
This tread was started months ago when after a patch there was a fall in drop-rates, it has since improved though maybe not to the pre-patch level. The drop rate is very low for lobestones of all types.
While i was waiting for Jormag i was farming those golems and mobs as well, on a different place though. The drop rate is very very hectic. Sometimes i get 0 in the 60-75 min farming, also there was several times i got 2 or 3 within 20 min then nothing for 2 hours.
Drop rate should be increased a bit but i do think the 1.3 gold price is close to be reasonable. The main problem is with the charged lodes in my point of view. Too many good looking weapon needs it and the farming places are much smaller then the other lodes.

Spend your time more efficiently.
You can get 2G in 30 mins farming COF P1. That is 1 Corrupted Lodestone every 30 mins. You spent 20 hours? That is like 40 Corrupted Lodestone you would’ve gotten.
The drop rate is low because the TP is for ALL servers. This means, you shouldn’t farm specifically for mats, instead farm for gold and buy the mats.

Some people don’at want to play that way (Farm COF P1). I don’t have a war or mes first off and that’s not a legitimate method of farming IMO. I want to EARN my gear myself (farming for 2 corrupted shards). The idea that legitimate players suffer because others abuse the system is bogus.

So, I’m not sure if this is fairly new at all, or since the dragon bash, “Dragon Coffer” patch about 1 day ago b/c I farm the path but not very regularly; thou just now I did attempt to farm for about three straight hours.
158% Magic Find.
Problem: It’s not a drop in the rate of the lodestones per-se, but ALL crafting materials. I used to get a plethora of 300ish +/- resources when farming there, but now I get a majority of green/blue drops + a good number of whites, but after the 3 hrs… I’ve gotten 27 resources in total….
Would like to know from ANet if this is some bug w/ the mobs now dropping the coffers or it is intended.
Thank You
Yeah, ANet nerfed the drops on these creatures terribly. I used to farm here all the time. First, the corrupted lodestones drops were nerfed. Then around a month or so ago, the entire drop rate was nerfed.
I have farmed here enough to know something is amiss. I rarely get anything from these guys to drop. And the drop rate of crafting materials HAS disappeared. 1 T6 material in an hour. A handful of T5 crafting materials. I used to be able to stack up these crafting materials.
Either there is a bug, or they have intentionally nerfed the drops. I don’t mind if lodestones are rare, but I should be able to get T5/T6 crafting materials.
