I believe its bugged, or at least thats what the wiki says, twilight and sunrise don’t count, but eternity does, so i’m not sure how that works. Seems odd they haven’t fixed it yet after all this time. So might be working as intended, idk.

if you check this thread, you’ll see a dev saying they had a potential fix for it. perhaps i have a different idea of what “soon” means, but heck this is an OLD bug… every patch they release im wondering why they dont care about those well knows – and i think not so hard to fix- bugs.
