i was wondering if there is any way to un-soulbind my frostfang axe. if I were to transmute the skin (with a fine stone) and then use the transmutation splitter on it, would the result be unbound?

If you want to un-soulbind an item you need to transmute it to a white. This makes it account bound. Transfer the frostfang to another character and have that char use the splitter to get the legendary stats back. It will be soulbound after using the splitter.
