Greetings Forum Dwellers,

Avid readers of the Orrator make have seen a link to an article I posted on the GW2 reddit thread of the Skritt King’s interest in joining the Lion Arch’s council.

The political machine is only moments away from running full steam, and no one knows tinkering better than the skritt. In order to disperse this foolhardy idea that the Skritt King should not be considered a realistic opponent, please allow me a moment of your time to draw on some points not already addressed in the outstanding articles linked above.

• The Skritt King is distinct. With a considerably diverse pallet of individuals already on the council, the Skritt King’s ability to bring new talents to the table would be a boon to the vast array of offensive, defensive and bartering capabilities.

• The Skritt King endures. The Skritt King is less of a person, and more of a skritt ideal. When one falls, another takes his place. In this, the worry of assassination becomes less of an issue. One skritt for another. This as well provides for a constant cycle of new perspectives and fresh ideas to come to the table.

• The Skritt King unites. There are already many skritt living in Lion’s Arch already. However, their loose morals and individual attitudes do not lend well to the spirit of interracial co-operation in Lion’s Arch. Under the intelligible wing of the Skritt King, their knowledge can be pooled to serve as a well-oiled machine. Churning out amazing ideas to run the city more efficiently, swiftly.

• The Skritt King is resourceful. Anyone who has seen a skritt burrow has come to ponder on the skritt’s ability to turn what was once considered “junk” into homes, machines and inventions that push forward the community. Lion’s Arch was built on a similar foundation, reusing their once ill-gotten gains and tools of the sea to create a new home.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that, like the skritt, the founder’s of Lion’s Arch were once considered rather disreputable themselves. Pillaging and stealing from merchants and travelers, they re-focused their ideals to much success. At the new heart of Tyria, the Skritt King can find a new path for the skritt with the association of the other races, propelling all to a brighter and shinier future.

Not to mention shinies. Also, shinies.
Lots of shinies.
Swimming in shinies.
All the shinies!

Remember, do your part and support the Skritt King for Lion’s Arch council. Make your own posters, buttons and other related campaign paraphernalia to show that you can be as inventive and creative as the skritt! Post them in this thread! Keep the spirit of the skritt alive! For shinies, Yes?

Vote for one who is of the people, rallying in mass for greater intelligence! The Skritt King is a champion at negotiations. The Skritt King promises skritt will stop taking kite baskets, and provide shiny trade with the air folk.

• The Skritt King promises less junk and more shinies for as long as Skritt King live, probably four weeks!
• The Skritt King will teach you better ways to salvage!
• The Skritt King will sponsor lucrative Fractals of the Mist research into the Depths of Tyria! Find lost shinies!
• The Skritt King will host a rotation of popular activities like Crab Toss and Southsun Survival.

If the Skritt King can promise this, he gets my vote for the rest of his lifetime.

If the Skritt King gets voted in, all the meeting places will have to have another floor underneath….all the stuff in the old cellar, move down to the new floor. The old cellar will be full of skritt making it so their King can actually comprehend the discussion…….

If we let one Skritt in council….they will over run the streets. I would rather not have that happen.

And remember, as more Skritt gather, the stronger they are. As playable race, when you start a party of Skritt, each additional Skritt in the party brings a 5% bonus to Shiny… err Magic Find. So a entire party would have a +25% bonus!

If anet added third party candidates I would give him all my shinnies!

Might I suggest some realistic goals?

-first 4 weeks of improved gold find! MORE SHINNIES!!!
-Research into the fractial: The Final Shiny War. That depicts the last war between shiny hoarding asurans and the noble skritt!
-Adding a new minigame “Shiny Vs Shiny Vs Shiny”

where three teams of skritt(players) fight on a map littered with shinnies (environmental weapons) each team must secure them before the competitors do. Each player has no skills and must rely on the environmental weapons to stop enemy skritt. Each shiny captured causes a skirtt follow the player and access to non-combative skritt skills. at 5 skritts you gain the superpowerful “For the Shinnies!” skill that causes all your skritt to go berserk on any enemy skritt that are holding a shiny.

This all sounds so much better than anything anet has ev…oh shiny I like shiny!

THIS! I would play that minigame all day long, forego work, sleep, food … ALL for the shinies …

And IF somehow Skirtt became a playable race, I’d abandon all attempts at a social life, fortify my man-cave, and spend the rest of my days wandering around, attacking things, just so I could hear my char shout, “Kill it!!!”

Far better candidate than Kiel or Evon.

How does Skritt King propose to deal with the record-breaking Shinies deficit? The Skrittsburg economy is in shambles!

To a skritt, there’s always a shinies deficit.

I would like to know where the Skritt King intends to get more Shinies for everyone to enjoy? Oh wait! I know! He intends to Tax it from the Super Rich, such as Evon Gnashblade, whose fortune is estimated to be at 100 Billion Gold, and the Skritt King intends to just give it to the people?

Well, if Business and Politics has taught me anything, its when you place a higher tax on goods or services, those goods or services tend to cost the consumer more, like me. I would rather pay 800 gems for a new set of armor skins, not 1600, thank-you. And I would rather the Black Lion Trading Company’s listing fees and taxes not double either.

Thus in good conscious, I cannot vote for the Skritt King. His policies would be bad for the economy!

Skrittsburgh, one of the largest, near surface cities of skritt, has indeed been in turmoil as of late. The city has faced adversary at every doorstep; from Inquest, members of the Nightmare Court, and the ever looming dangers of the Destroyer brood. Located in the desolate Brisban Wildlands, this area has become treacherous for trade routes and supplies.

Though, the same could be said of many trade routes in even the most established areas of the civilized world. As kingdoms pour their resources into fighting the threat of the elder dragons, it is time for the Lionguard to step up as outward defenders once more. Now that the Seraph have taken duty over Krytan land, and with the Lionguard regaining strength, Captain Ellen Kiel can focus her newfound resolve in re-establishing control over the trade routes. After all, it should be noted the Lionguard already have representation on the Captain’s Council by way of Captain Magnus the Bloody-Handed.

With the trade routes secure and less goods falling prey to nefarious ventures, Evon Gnashblade and Black Lion trading company would then be able to reduce taxes for the handling of goods and services. This may even open up the bottleneck in trade allowing for more wiggle room for profit on the auction circuit. Wouldn’t that be something?

This is a fair question for the common adventurer. To most, magical goods aren’t easy to come across. However, to the adventurer they are practically found on every nook and cranny of their explorations, lying haplessly next to defeated enemies. After combing areas over and over, it would seem that no more shinies could be found.

Yet more shinies were found, many shinies and it was good. That period was the siege of Southsun, after various settlers taught adventurer’s better ways to find shinies on what was once considered a barren, unpleasant chain of islands. Did you ever wonder where they learned these fantastic tricks of the trade? By skritt of course! As they fled their homes with what precious goods they could carry, the skritt found opportunity by trading some of their precious commodities for survival skills. To a skritt, part of surviving is knowing how to find new and exciting shinies in even the more remote of places. You’re welcome.

Aside from just discovery, the Skritt King’s promise to share new ways to get the most out of salvage may yield new and exciting forms of shinies to invent, craft and behold! The world is gleaming with possibility!

Sure, the Skritt King has shinies. Many shinies, one could say “all the shinies.” However, the spectrum of shinies grows each day, and with it the possibility for new types of shinies never considered before. Lion’s Arch has grown to become a center of commerce, trade and exotic materials. From the Mists to the lands of the South yet to be re-explored, the endless sea of shinies awaits for the skritt and their new friends, yes?

When the buttons were first created, the Skritt King wanted to keep them all. Once it was explained that these buttons could bring in mounds of support tokens, it was easier to negotiate their dispersing. Just remind the skritt that the ends justify the means.

Wow, a very interesting choice. I’d actually want to see that happen, Skrittsburgh feels like it has untapped potential (along with the Maguuma Wastes and Magus Falls, for other reasons).

Okay the Skritt can stay in the running. Anyone willing to use Kaylee’s best quote (happy sigh) is worth it.

Personally, I love Skritt and would be all for it, but since Skritt are so reliant on being in large numbers to maintain high intelligence function, there would have to be a ton of Skritt that moved into LA (read more on Skritt lore at the wikipedia page if you’re not familiar with this).

This would be a plus for me, but others may not be so happy with it.

The Skritt-King is now receiving support from other interested individuals.

I’m very disappointed our shiny coins can’t be donated to skritt king yet, will be boycotting election further until this happens
