A plea regarding Crystal Breaker
Thank god they are. Last night was so annoying when everyone was running crystals and protecting the crystal runner instead of also stopping the other team. It was more of a race than a battle.
I came here to report the same thing.
Non-players swapping kills to finish achievements is making it hard to find a good game.
Please consider avoiding new PvP achievements that can and will be traded like this. Thanks.
Yeah – unless three or four people are beating on the carrier, they will always make it through, wind is completely broken right now with how buggy the 3 is.
part of the gameplay is denying the opponents points too. Not just trying to score more than them.
The main trouble I see is most of the games I join, almost everyone is just standing around waiting for an innocent victim to pick up the crystals. Nobody else wants to, because all they want is the Crystal Breaker achievement.
As it stands, it’s too easy to bring the crystal to base, but too difficult to get the kill count. Needing more kills than carry for achievement exacerbates the problem.
There is no playing to what the game is meant to be now. It’s just all about getting their stupid achievement points.
I finished my participation in the mini-games about 9 hours ago. I decided I would not go for Crystal Breaker because it was already starting to get similar to the “let someone else win” scenarios in the Sanctum Sprint. There’s enough other achievements to get the meta, and I don’t feel like getting an achievement that is normally tough to complete, but can be handed to me through “cooperation”.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about, I got my Crystal Breaker Achievement in the first day by just playing the game. I don’t even worry about getting the enemy carrier much anymore (unless they are close by) since there are hordes of guys on my team hunting him down. Mostly I run the crystals to our base and rack up tons of points for the win.
by the way, 5 minutes for a confirmed wooden chest for losing, and a metal chest for winning.

i’m kinda sad they need to remove this when the event is over.

Let me re-emphasize: It’s not about the rewards, or winning or losing.
It’s about this Crystal Breaker achievement which everyone wants to get and is not playing the game that is ruining the fun.
The problem is Crystal Capper is much easier than Crystal Breaker. Therefore many people need Crystal Breaker rather than Crystal Capper. The result is lots of people standing around waiting for someone to carry the crystal, so they can gank that crystal carrier.
Eventually, nobody is carrying the crystal. Everyone’s standing around waiting for a crystal carrier. Everyone just chases that 1 person who looks like they are approaching a crystal.
The rewards is merely part of the problem. There is no major loss in losing or winning. The players know that and they don’t mind losing, so long as they get their Crystal Breaker achievement.
The whole point is very few people are playing Aspect Arena for the game it’s supposed to be!
Crystal Breaker would be super easy if pullig/knocking someone off a ledge would count as a kill.. i can not even recall how many carriers i killed with the sun4 skill black hole..
and i was starting to wonder why i didn’t get the achievment

Players who actually enjoy it, unable to do it because some yahoo is trying to get an achievement. But truthfully being able to kill the crystal carrier is part of not allowing them to score and was designed as part of the game!

I wish everyone will have that attitude that these minigames are to be enjoyed, not a checkbox that they need to ensure ticked.
Killing the crystal carrier is part of the game to deny the opposing team scoring points. Carrying the crystal to score points is also part of the game to ensure a win.
But thanks to the achievements, very very VERY few people are carrying the crystal now. They all want to kill the crystal carrier, why should they carry the crystal?
In light of the fact that being pushed off the ledge doesn’t count as a kill for Crystal Breaker, I know lots of people have tongue-in-cheek said that once they get attacked with a crystal, they are jumping off a cliff.

I just spend over 3 hours in this Aspect Arena trying to get the crystal breaker achievement. All the other achievements in this Arena are very doable and fun too.. But the crystal breaker achievement is almost undoable. After continuously trying to kill the crystal bearers for over 3 hours I quit for today out of frustration…
I managed to kill 8 in total but its just ridiculously hard, compared to getting the crystals ‘home’ witch is ridiculously easy.
Please fix it and make it more balanced. For instance take away the speed boosts on the runners or make them less effective when carrying a crystal. The way it is now you can choose any element and make it home with the crystal using the speed boost on whatever element you chose.

I currently have 100% historical achievements since Mad King on I figured we’ll if I can I’ll try and get all the event achievements. Crabtacular was almost the end to that streak but I got lucky and got it before I even finished the other Crab chieves. With that said 2 games of this and I thought yup, Crystal Breaker will be the achievement that stops the 100% streak. Can’t really damage the person with the crystal even with 3 people they have wind they are invulnerable to attack with the 3 rush. It didn’t bother me much though, I figured an achievement so asinine would come along eventually that would stop the streak and it was seemingly this one until…
I entered last night to try and knock out the games I needed for the 15 games or more chieve and I ran into the strangest thing. People in this game working together for a common goal in a pvp event. Every member on both sides were capping the crystal letting the other team bring them down then someone else would pick it up rinse and repeat until everyone had their crystal breaks. After everyone had their 15 breaks we probably played 8-10 games afterwards and it was so much fun. This game mode is a blast to play, IMO its kind of ruined due to the griefing over Crystal Breaker. I don’t propose they take the achievement out, I simply propose a fix to the wind ability. The wind ability really ruins any chance someone has at legitimately unlocking this without investing hours of their time towards it.
I guess they just need to make these achievements less grindy.
But the real problem is it’s so easy and FAST to get the crystals back. You just need to line up your travel skill with either wind/fire, and you are unstoppable and it travels you a long distance.
The problem there is maybe when you are carrying a crystal, the travel skills should not transport you as far or as fast. Or maybe even using the skill uses both of the endurance levels so you can only use it once.

Having witnessed multiple people do that over and over and over while I was trying to get the Crystal Breaker achievement last night, I don’t think they were actually making that statement tongue in cheek – people are really doing that, and it compounds the problem something fierce. It’s bad enough that stopping crystal runners is way harder than it probably should be without them intentionally suiciding right before you would have killed them to prevent you from getting credit. The way the mechanics work now uniquely favor trolls, and oh boy are the trolls ever out in force.
Just make it so that if somebody dies in a way that gets you a “kill” (jumping off a cliff after you have hit them with skills does just that), the achievement is also incremented. Problem solved.

Thanks for bringing up the flaw in Aspect Arena, only tried it twice. I totally enjoy the Southsun survival though, have much fun and literally made me laugh when I killed a player in mist form after he killed me. I especially like that you get almost the same reward regardless winning or losing. The point you got will lead you to achievement eventually so I don’t need to worry and just play and have fun. Nice job.
