Aspect Arena feedback
I don’t like Aspect Arena at all.
I didn’t like Southsun Survival at first either. But that one is slowly growing on me in small bursts.
Crab Toss was the worst minigame. Atm Arena is a bit better than Survival. But the achievements are ruining it. ArenaNet needs to think before making useless achievements.
I hate it to not being able to play for the win and standing there waiting for enemies to cap the crystal(instead of attacking them) so I can kill them after they cap the crystal – cause of the achievement(and of course it is not that easy and takes ages).
I for one love the game. Its like a game I once played as a kid, can’t remember the name of it. Regardless, it isn’t that hard to kill someone. Just use the Nova skill on the sun skill set and send them over the edge.

Damage needs to be increased and distance covered from the fire #5 dash skill halved.
I actually really enjoy it. You seem to not even understand how it works.
My main problem is that this mini game is way too slow. Let players move with permanent swiftness to make it a little bit more fun. I also don’t like the achievements. I only was able to get destroying the enemy crystal carrier when me and a friend got the luck we got in the same instance. All we did was coming to the same crystal, and let each other kill the other. This was by far the easiest and less frustrating way to get the achievement. IMO the WORST and most FRUSTRATING mini game I’ve played in any videogame.
Crystal breaker is tough to get because it’s so easy to run the crystal. Instead of trying to stop the runners Keep an eye on the map and clear crystals for your runners.
I don’t know what you are talking about only 2 damage. I use lightning/Fire and between lightnings 25 damage interrupt skill and Fire’s 4-8 damage auto attack Plus the very nice Stability field that deals 4 damage a second to any enemy, you can take down targets in a hurry. Not faster than they can get an Orb back to base, but fast enough to make for stimulating game play if you understand the goals of the game.
Moving around the map is insanely fast, that is the problem with crystal breaker. Learn to use your #5 skills they are very good for mobility.
I seriously LOVE Aspect Arena. What I don’t love is how players are playing for achievements instead of playing to win. Or rather, how playing for achievements and playing to win are different from each other.

Guild Wars 2 will be an amazing game when it’s finished. Compare Prophecies to EotN!
@ ESKan, how I see it is that those players you are talking about (including me), only want the achievement points because that is the one and only thing that is somewhat rewarding for which you can get something useful. As I mentioned before, I literally loathe this mini game and the rewards (desert rose) are also so very unsatisfying. It’s a joke really.
This thread is a fine example of how people all heard that wind was OP so they completely ignored sun and lightning. Then people heard that sun could get you across the whole map instantly so they all switched to sun.
If you took some time to explore all 3 aspects and learned their strengths and weaknesses then you wouldn’t need to be here complaining.
The only thing that is currently a problem is the wind exploit to reset the invuln timer.
I can’t seem to work lighting because it looks like more of a melee aspect.
Good for holding down certain choke points, but I’m always moving.
I love this game though and would play it more than any sPVP game, possibly due to the fact your skill bars are all the same (unless you chose a different aspect). I guess that’s why I like Dragon Ball and the crab and keg games too.

Really I don’t blame the players for this… You get the same rewards for winning as loosing, and as you said to get the hardest most time consuming achievement even in a competitive manner requires you to let the opponents get the crystal in the first place!
This problem is compounded because now achievements are no longer a badge of honor. Rather they give bonus stats, gear, tokens, and power-ups. So even more people are achievements hunting than ever before.
A-net set people up for this IMHO. So what I do is Ask the players in my matches to let the farmers farm crystal breaker over there => on one crystal (usually a tower crystal.) and the rest of us fight over the single crystal left. If no one needs breaker then we just go at it normally.

I never noticed any OP myself. Though maybe that’s because I play lightning exclusively? And as for mobility, I find myself usually being the top capper if I try to be, so it’s certainly still mobile enough.
I love the lightning aspect, great CC (compared to the others).
Utterly annoying achievementwise, why make an achievement for carrier killing when you DON’T get credit for using your skills tactically (PUSHING THEM OFF) and when you try to kill them normally, they have god mode (Wind 3) and the window you get for killing them is extremely low.
Very bad choice of achievement condition.
I love this game. I was having a lot of fun yesterday playing and went on a rather nice roll. It’s fun when your teammates know what to do and you run around in a group of 3 or 4 and have different aspects. That way you can just melt other teams. I loved it and played for about an hour straight yesterday. Gained about 1g and the rare item from the loot drop. Very fun though. I haven’t tried the Hunger Games mini game yet.

Terrible terrible minigame, and the achievements promote even worse behavior.
Every game I joined so far, has very few players playing for the team. It’s all about getting the kills for the achievement.
Ever see 7 people standing around waiting for a crystal carrier?
This was fun, in the beginning as I was learning how to play.
It became less fun once you found out that winning and losing offer the same rewards and that as people played to get breaker achievement no one played to win.
There was the one time where we all met in the center and had a 4v4 PvP battle. Nobody wanted to grab a crystal. That was different and fun.

It is melee and has very good mobility (the best imho) but the melee skill jumps you into range if you are just a little ways off. Also it has a great AREA denial / “where you going?” skill to put down the pain. I suggest trying all the skills. In my best games I have team members that swap aspects depending on situation and what the opponents have.
Read your tooltips. Sun’s auto does 2 damage at long range, and increases when you get closer.
I do agree that aspect arena needs some work, but it has potential as a good minigame.
More fun and needs less work to improve than SSS does (talk about a great idea with horrid implementation).

I loved this game, but achievements are indeed spoil it a little. Still more fun than hunger games though .
I agree. It’s the worst mini game ever made in GW2. I hate this game. Confuse, boring, slow, no strategy, no control on what you do. Really, a poor choice to have given this mini game.
Very fun minigame because you have 3 “classes” fighting.
Unfortunately, the achievements are encouraging extremely bad behavior, totally ruining any gameplay for this arena.

And here I am favouring Lightning. It is great to kill crystal bearers with. Time your trap well and you will have no problem killing them. I couldn’t get sun to work for me offensively. Air was so and so. The knockback is nice, but also quite easily avoided and knocking people off doesn’t give you credit.
The achievements should have been geared to helping your team win, while at first glance it does seem killing bearers does that, the fact that the game is fast paced makes it not worth while to kill their bearers if you want to win a match.
Better achievements would have been 50 normal kills and 10 wins. Another option: do a certain amount of each event type, Sun, Air, Lightning.
