Seems like most people would rather see another Inquest Dungeon rather than a fight between gods… Well the Playerbase has decided. I can tell you how this Fractal will be:

Evil Asuran Mastermind goes crazy, wants to create something to rule the world/destroy it/start chaos, blows the reactor up, bossfight against defiant flying stones, Loot, gg.

Some Players just wanna watch Lore burn.

You know, I think the developers at Anet are going to have to work extra hard and come up with something epic to satisfy the people who wanted something epic. I just hope they succeed at that task.

They didn’t even care about fractals they saw “HUMAN FEMALE! BOOBS!” and voted that way. Not to mention the first cinematic that we actually have interaction with Gnashblade he’s in a stairwell scheming while the “noble war leader Ellen” is trying to come up with a noble plan.

Was rigged from the start to have this chump win. Trahearne 2.0 – useless and incompetent but hey, people voted because she’s a human female. Great stuff.

Rather than jumping into the body of another character and having a different set of skills, you know like a more tedious version of costume brawl.

Easy. Everyone judged books by their covers, and Kiel turns out to be the Aetherblade leader.

Tada! The whole election was a pretty comical sham with how the characters were portrayed to begin with, so unless they do a real twist… it’s pretty bad.

I actually wanted to see the Thaumanova fractal (but thought Gnashblade would be more interesting, storyline-wise, so my votes went there)— if you’re acquainted with the Asuran personal story with the Infinity Ball option, the Steam creatures are made by the player character in an alternate timeline in the process of taking over the world and destroying the dragons.

Sounds like it has potential to me.

I’m sicked about asura. Really. It’s like elves on many games. An overrated race, look how everything “special” in game is asura. So much fanboyism in ANet team it seems….

So guess what, another story about those kitten ed asura and their plans (always just the same). But don’t worry, if ANet offered Abaddon’s fractal at first, that means we’ll GET Abaddon’s fractal (or dungeon, or something) sooner or later, this is just a change of priority. But surely ANet won’t let such an interesting, lorewise, story pass out.

And fractals, well, I don’ care at all about those. Most people who do fractals all day are farmers anyway, so I know they aren’t worried about repeating the same areas over and over again.

I’m kinda glad evon lost. Theoratically this frac would be the best we ever wanted. But in the reality, arenanet, gw2 lorewise, can never EVER compete with gw1. And wathever they do, do personalize the Gods/story, they will not be up to the level people expect. It would have been a disapointment, with lot of QQ like ‘is this the hyped abbadon frac, omg so weak’. now this doesn’t have to pass. I have faith in Arenanet, but after the Zhaitan fail (it just doesn’t compared to any gw1 story, although i must admit it ain’t bad), i don’t believe, they can create the most important fracs ever to the highest quality standards ever. They would have disappointed us. Perhaps that’s why they put Kielen as the good one, cause they knew it would be a hard job.

Asuran Researchers randomly opened up a wormhole in the middle of this reactor while researching. This Wormhole leads to a world of a technologically advanced Civilization of Skritt, who gathered themselves in such great numberes that they evolved into greater minds than the asura. They welcome the asura peacefully, but the asura feel insulted and challenged, so a small group of them tries to steal the Matter-Core in the Heart of the Planet, who keeps the Planet alive as his Magnetic Field has faided long ago. They can’t steal it because it’s of course huge and massive, so they destroy it. They manage to flee before the Planet gets hit by a sunstorm and the empire of the Nine Skritt Highkings is burned. After a few years the Asura still didn’t manage to close the wormhole, as fire, heat and radiation travel through it. They start an operation to change the directon of the Wormhole from the Planet to another dimension, ripping apart everything but collapsing the Wormhole with the suicidal Bursting of the Core-Reactor of the Research Lab. Since then creatures appear randomly in the area.

You forgot the Elder dragons.

You know those beings called “Extremely ancient, powerful draconic creatures that consume everything around them…”

The creatures that is is said to “have gone through cycles of awakening, destruction, and hibernation, each time ending an era of life in Tyria and bringing forth a new one.”

Creatures so powerful and ancient they can and do consume wild magic and have shaped the world for over 10 thousand years? Creatures that predate the gods by multiple millenia.

Oh yea and that the devs said have a direct connection to the Thaumanova Reactor?

To think there will be nothing of the dragons in there is a bit silly at this point I think.

Agreed. Honestly I didnt care which fractal was made. I supported Kiel because people seemed to (on the forums) be of the impression that one fractal would be 100% perfectly made, voice acted, epic, awesome, and would turn your character into a god. While the other will seemingly consist of walking into an exact replica of CoE, hearing one asuran joke then seeing an explosion that amounts to a match being lit.

It is ridiculous to think that the dev team would even entertain the idea of doing that. They dropped so many hints that the vote was about, God lore vs Dragon lore.

Weather you think the gods are petty and annoying, or the dragons are more monsters than villains and therefore boring. Both groups are very epic (in the story of Tyria).

I do think learning about the reactor will be better in the long run though. Because we don’t know what happened there at all. While we know exactly what happened with Abaddon, we just haven’t seen it, or played through it rather.

Its for a month, the reduced waypoint costs. Maybe if was permanent then voting for kiel would’ve been justified. Most people who do fractals are trying their hardest to get a skin that they want, which is a near impossibility. WP costs was your motivation to vote for Kiel? Rly? The most expensive travel between the farthest possible locations is less than 10s! That can be regained in less than 2 mins farming in Orr! Geez! WTH were you guys thinking!?

Run CoF P1 and you get 1g. That’s 9 mins for like 10+ WP travels! Reduced costs on an in-game cost vs reduced cost on cakittenem.

It comes down to people not actually understanding what was at stake here. The Fractal is a Fractal. Name an epic Fractal. I would say Colossus, why? Cause a giant man walks away and bows. Ten seconds of content. The rest of them are just “who cares” moments, including the Leviathan. What can they possibly do with Abaddon or the Reactor for it to make any difference?

Savings on Lion Keys or Waypoints? Seriously? Who care. First off it’s only for a month, that’s one Living Story arch. The savings on Waypoints would have to be close to 90% for anyone to even notice the savings. We’re talking 5 silver for the longest trip you can take. I throw away more than that on random crap.

The actual issue was the direction that Living Story would take for the next two plus years. You people chose more of the same rather than to change it up and trying potentially interesting things. Kiel is a putz and she will continue to be a putz. Gnashblade could have been interesting, but now he’s nobody. Thanks a lot community.

I hope so because that’s by far the worse reason to have done so. Ellen Kiel is a puppet council person with no experience, understanding, nor grit. Her place is in the field as a Lionguard, not in Council chambers arguing with real Pirates. Evon Gnashblade, on the other hand is a true pirate and businessman. He is everything the council represents and the person most deserving of the position.

That’s pretty short-sighted.

Kiel may be a putz, but now she’s a putz with power. People screwing things up when outside their element can certainly be interesting.

Gnashblade may be more “interesting” in that he’s cutthroat and conniving. But what he isn’t is “nobody.” He still runs the largest trading company in Tyria, and now he gets to add “vindictive” to his list of traits.

It’s a living story, and there’s a lot that can happen.
