Seriously. The sword skin is awful. Why would you not add the rapier, when a lot of people have expressed a desire to have it? Do you not have an ear to the ground? Do you not pay attention, what’s the deal here?

Yeah… every single other item is there. But no rapier.. instead we get some suggestive looking garbage sword. Why anet? It’s the only weapon I wanted. Why? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!

I’m going to get this sword simply because of how uncomfortable I feel when I look at it long enough.

thoroughly upset. it looks just like the charr/gear blade. I was really looking forward to that rapier after seeing a video earlier this morning of some data-mined skins. idk, now I don’t really care for those skins well, back to getting the fractal sword for my musketeer look :/

I hope it’s a new weapon type. If they made rapier models and animations and never added it, I’d be confused.

But some word from the developers on where they’re going with this would be nice.

I’m pretty disappointed with it too—I would have even taken another skin besides the rapier, if only it wasn’t so bulky. The amount of thinner and/or more elegant options for swords leaves a lot to be desired.

It actually thrusts itself up and down on its hilt.

I will grant it’s got a nifty animation, but I’m tired of swords that are as wide as I am. It just looks silly.

You were expecting the rapier? I was expecting anet to be just as lazy as they have been.
The rapier itself comes with a different animation and they wouldn’t let us have that without extreme RNG and gems silly.

I fenced all through college and for a year thereafter, I have a few swept hilt rapiers RL, I love the Three Musketeers (Michael York version, please) and swashbuckling. I am drooling for a rapier for my dashing Thief. It speaks to a whole genre that most MMOs lack.

I’m not at all surprised so many want them so very much.

Although I was never heavily invested in their releasing a rapier, it is a little disappointing that they didn’t make this particular skin available via black lion chest. People surely would have purchased more keys just to get one! I’m not sure why they didn’t include it. Seems like a missed opportunity.

People like elegance I guess? Well even so most atack skills aren’t really rapier-like imo.

The possibilities are:

1) Some kind of research suggested that people hate rapiers.
2) They want to reserve the possibility of having rapiers as a separate weapon type.
3) They saw how much some people wanted rapiers and thought they needed to package a rapier skin in a more profitable way.
4) Some other reason.

After taking a closer look at the sword, I feel kind of bad for criticizing their decision since it does have an interesting looking animation. Like a train. I’m sure they worked kitten it, but still the rapier would have made the people seeking skins in the first place happy.

This fellow fencer (epeeist) feels your pain. I dislike big, clunky-looking weapons, and was looking forward to something simpler and more elegant for my Sylvari thief.

Maybe the rapier skin will show up sometime in the future. One can only hope!

Anet teasing rapiers and then never handing them over: eight years and counting. Thanks for screwing us over again, guys.

Well, there’s not a single item that appeals to me in the slightest. I’d be disappointed, but I’m actually pretty glad that I’m not tempted into buying RNG boxes from the gemstore.

I’m sure there are people who may like these skins, but here’s some constructive advice for ANet if they want me to spend more of my $ in the gem store:
– Make weapons less over the top. A classic looking rapier, as others mentioned here, appeals to me much more than this kind of stuff.
– Add more items like the Flute or add something that gives our characters the ability to perform a dance emote of another race.
– Bring player/guild housing in the mix. I’d throw cakitten you by the handfuls to deck out my own instanced house/guild house. This would also open up tons of potential items to sell, such as NPCs, decorative items, etc.

I honestly wouldn’t mind the new sword so much if it wasn’t constantly pumping like it is. Just closed when sheathed, and open when drawn. LIKE THE OTHER TWO BLADES. The Dagger and Greatsword just Open when drawn, they don’t constantly thrust or pump like the one hand.

Whisperblade is a generic crafted sword skin with pink smoke on it. That’s garbage.

dude, copy the brackets and the text between them and paste them into chat on GW2. any chat works. and it will link a weapon called the Atherblade Sword. it’s a rapier. it is thin. it is long, but by no means wider than your body, unless you are literally a toothpick. But it isn’t flashy enough, not a sword for a “decorated swordsman.”
