Evon saved Lion’s Arch from his evil legionnaire. Without his quick thinking, the people of LA would have died to the Gnash Warband. Due to this, we should all show our thanks by voting for him for Council.

Ellen Kiel wouldn’t protect LA like how Evon did. She would have made us do all the work, and then take credit for it.

Actually, he decided to take money from the merchants of LA in a method other than brute force, which is what his legionnaire wanted.

He’s still taking money from the people of LA, just in a more… Ash Legion way.

Save your money! Vote Kiel!

Evon Gnashblade does nothing but look after his own interests and skin. Have you played both of the in-game candidate trials? Kiel wants to recover the stolen items from the Aetherblade wreckage and redistribute it to the people the Aetherblade raided.

Meanwhile.. Gnashblade wants to recover the stolen items from the Aetherblade wreckage and use it to fund his political campaign. He went as far as to quote his version of the “finders keepers” rule as justification.

Now, imagine you’re one of the merchants devastated by the Aetherblade raid. Is Gnashblade sounding like the hero of that story to you?

Pffft.

I’m surprised that people haven’t grasped the deeper implications of that story.

The Gnash warband set up the BLTC in Lion’s Arch on the orders of the Ash Legion. That means that the BLTC is a front for whatever purpose the Ash Legion has in the region.

So what is it? What is the TRUE purpose of the BLTC? Is it to act as a covert spying program on the people of Lion’s Arch? Is Gnashblade perhaps funneling a portion of his profits back to the Ash Legion?

Don’t be so quick to vote for Evon until you know what’s REALLY going on, people.

Riiight. He’s sending adventurers to recover stolen items from Aetherblade shipwrecks and then using the recovered stolen property to finance his political campaign. To you this sounds like someone who is donating his profits towards “charities like orphanges, refuge shelters, and animal shelters”?

You’re a lousy judge of character. :P

Whatever he does with his profits is his business, and without the BLTC no one else would make a profit either. Gnashblade only cares about his profits may be a true argument, but its the best thing for LA. LA is where he makes his living and without the city he would be nothing. He will do all he can to protect his profits and the city. People forget that there is already a Charr on council, and Lions Arch is a free city one to all races. Also it is a council each person may plead a case on the council, but majority vote decides on the proposition. Evon Gnashblade may not be the hero Tyria wants, but he is the hero Tyria needs.

Tyria needs a hero that looks out for his bottom-line, first and foremost? I’m not sure if the world needs nor wants that.

Btw, has anyone heard Evon’s favorite joke?

“How many human orphans does it take to make five gold?”
“I don’t know… How many?”
“Only one! That is, of course, if you know the right nobleman!”

Without the BLTC we would not be the heroes we are today. Gnash goods fund the saving of lives. I should know, I was there on the front lines defending Ascalon from the forces that threaten it. The BLTC was not up and running then and our armor was becoming thin and our weapons dull. We were losing ground, then one glorious morning the trading post was established! Finally we could get supplies and I was able to push the ghosts back, and continue pushing! Evon saved Tyria.

I can respect Evon Gnashblade, maybe not trust, but as he said, he IS a politician. And he knows his own mind. Kiel on the other hand, sure she’s NICE, but I don’t get the feeling she’s that SMART. Voting her onto the counil sounds like laying the foundations for a road to ruin paved with good intentions. Also, a LAW OFFICER on the lion’s arch council would be a slap in the face to Lion’s Arch herritage.
This was a city founed on pirate ideals, cheep rum, free trade, and no nosey guards asking questions every time you want to make a deal.
Evon’s no saint. but he couldn’t be a better representative example of the lion’s arch population if he tried!

Evon opposed his legionnaire because he knew his legionnaire’s plan wouldn’t work. We can’t say whether he was motivated purely from self-interest or from genuine respect for the people of Lion’s Arch, but at the bottom line, if Evon hadn’t acted, the end result would probably have been that the Gnash warband got itself apprehended by Lionguard if they were lucky, or slaughtered by angry Lion’s Arch citizens if they weren’t.

Yeah right! Some hero!

Listen up citizens! Here is THE TRUTH about Gnashblade (if that’s even his real name!)!

Just yesterday I was investigating at Caedecus Manor and guess what I have found:
Some of the bandits had so called “support reminders”. With vote tokens and some silver. Trying to kidnap Queen Jennah are we Gnashblade?

On the very same day I also took a visit to Twighlight Arbor. And it turned out Gnashblade also wanted support from the Nightmare!

But that’s not the worst… in twighlight arbor, I was swimming around, when some barracuda attacked me. I fended it off, and manage to kill it. Believe it or not, it also had a “support reminder”.

I ask you, how low can you get Gnashblade? Not only is he flame legion, not only is he supporting bandits and the Nightmare, he is also corrupting fish now! That’s your hero right there: Evon “fishcorrupter” Gnashblade.

Disgusting.

The BLTC is efficient, profitable, and well managed.

The Lionguard is in constant need of my assistance as they are poorly trained, ill equipped, and incompetently managed, all while receiving the largest portion of the Lion’s Arch budget.

Sorry Kiel, but I’m going with the guy with a proven record of success.

Where is it that they say the Lionguard gets LA’s budget? There’s no sales tax (that we know of) in LA.

Also the Lionguard is a militant group that’s been weakened and overwhelmed by other groups such as the Seraph (which receives just as much, if not more, funding while covering a smaller area).

…How has the Lionguard been weakened by the Seraph? If anything, it’s the Seraph that has the bigger mandate (protecting all of Kryta, while the Lionguard just protects the trade routes), while the Lionguard has been muscling in on Seraph jurisdiction. Furthermore, it’s actually a plot point in the Kryta storyline that the Seraph have become severely underfunded and under-resourced compared to other military organisations. Meanwhile, I don’t recall anything to suggest that the Lionguard are under-resourced.

Historically speaking, governments usually spend between 35-60% of their budget on their military/peacekeeping forces simply because those agencies have the most employees (and require expensive equipment). My guess is that Lion’s Arch is primarily funded through a sales tax on imports (it has already been paid before it gets to us), income taxes for residents, property taxes, and/or by taxing the Black Lion Trading Company.

Also, the Lionguard primarily guard Lion’s Arch and the trade routes from the capitals to Lion’s Arch. They do not cover a very large area at all whereas groups like the Seraph defend the entire region of Kryta. The two are not an apples to apples comparison.

When you look at the distribution of havens, in fact, the Lionguard only have two things of interest when you leave the immediate vicinity of Lion’s Arch – the road west to Metrica Province (via the roads in Kessex and Caledon, with a couple of offshoots) and the road east across the Shiverpeaks to Hoelbrak (apparently trusting the charr to cover the rest of the way from Crossroads Haven to the Black Citadel). Apart from a handful of locations that can basically be summed up as ‘outskirts of Lion’s Arch’, that’s about it – the Lionguard maintain safe havens along the road and try to keep the roads clear.

The Seraph concerns include… Queensdale, most of Kessex, about a third of Gendarran, all of the Harathi Hinterlands with the help of a mercenary company whose leader has a grudge against centaurs, northern Brisban Wildlands, and keeping an eye on the Modniir in Snowden. A recent interview has also verified that Kryta extends outside the currently explorable regions, so that’s more.

However, we can’t make a direct comparison because 1) we can’t quantify those remaining regions, 2) we don’t have figures on how well funded either is, and 3) the two have very different mandates. The Lionguard are spread across a lot of zones, but have a very narrow focus – if something isn’t a threat to a trade route, it’s not their concern (with the exception of the aforementioned outskirts of Lion’s Arch, where they do have the same mandate as the Seraph). The Seraph are expected to secure the entire area within their jurisdictions, including serving as police as well as soldiery.

From observation, I’d say the Lionguard have actually been doing a better job. There’s only one ruined haven that I know of offhand, and while the events are balanced so they’ll often fail without player participation… well, hey, it’s an MMO. That’s par for the course. The Seraph, on the other hand, were pretty much on the verge of collapse entirely when the personal story starts. Mind you, the Seraph have much greater challenges than those faced by the Lionguard.

People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
