In case you haven’t seen, the Heralds in LA are announcing Evon Gnashblade as the winner of the seat on the Ships council. Sorry Kiel, better luck next time.

Hmmm, kind of expected that. The apparent loser turning it around at the end usually makes for better story.

I wonder, though, if ANet has a hanging-chad story up their sleeves, where we will find out that Ellen actually got the majority vote, but Evon somehow got rigged things to win.

You were, just not very well. ANet seems to have trouble communicating these kinds of things clearly to the player base.

I missed this information myself until seeing it on the forums earlier today. You’d think some sort of big warning in player’s event tracker on the upper right hand corner of their screen would have been a clear way to go. That, or an in-game mail.

On the bright side: Evon’s choice of fractals sounds a bit better.

On the dark side: ArenaNet learns from experience, and now they won’t experience the effect of lower WP costs on the community.

Not that odd, considering the servers tracks it all it’s not unlikely they were programmed to announce whoever had the most.

They are officially announcing the winner on their Twitch stream today in 20 minutes… along with the Jubilee preview.

Yeah, I voted for Evon, but I hope this isn’t a case of him stealing the election. If our vote didn’t actually matter to the storyline, a lot of people will be justifiably angry.

I dumped around 200g into votes last minute with the 2x support banner. Not much, but I also know of at least 10 others who did the same.

The announcements were always couched as “exit polls”, which aren’t totally accurate. Is it possible he was in the lead all along, and the results we were being given were made up to give us a surprise turn around?

Vote counts can easily sway at the end. If you’re going to vote, why go there multiple times when you can do it once near the end. A few hundred thousand players probably voted within the last day. The last announced vote counts were pretty low, suggesting most people didn’t bother. There could have easily been 10x that (100 million).

Watch Kiel request a recount or something claiming Evon cheated, etc, etc only to find some corruption plot and “misplaced” votes… and the story continues.

And it doesn’t help that there wasn’t proper in game notification about when it was ending. Asking around in my guild, no one knew, and we all have a lot of left over tokens that could have been used.
