This post represents my personal opinion after some discussing the topic with my friends.

Defeat X while supporting
I really like it, when the current event takes you to places, where you normally don’t go to again / placed you have completed once, but don’t care to go back to like JPs, hidden area, or low level locations. That’s a really good idea, and I would like, if you maintain this.

Unfortunately I think you took it into the wrong direction this time!

It is not fun, to complete 20 events in the same area while running between the nearly exact events over and over.

It’s a nice idea, to kill the last boss in the fractals while wearing a support button, but why the same boss twice?

I’m really glad, that the spvp dailys also counted towards the “Kiel Every Day” or “Gnash All the Blades” so it didn’t force you to be online on 6 different days.

Southsun Survival
Definitive one of my favorite minigames so far, but I think it needs some small adjustments.

Map Size: I’d prefer some sort of fence limiting the area and the places where you can hide. There are some locations where you can wait, without the possibility of a Karka-attack. Even a Karka placed right onto you will not attack you. Maybe also let the Mist Walker see the living players on the whole map, and not only the one near you.

Points accumulation: The points accumulation is a problem in the second phase of the game. Once the grace period is over, you might get killed early, and be able to collect a lot of revenge motes, leading to a lot of points. But later on, the revenge motes are very rare, and if you are not the last one surviving, your points might be very low. Maybe give out points depending how long you survived (f.e. last 3 survivors get 25 points) or give points for successfully dodge a summoned Karka.

Items: I like the items, nothing to complain here.

Spawning: One time a person directly spawned in the line of fire from my “Head Shot”. Don’t think that was funny for him. I’m also not sure about spawning with half health. There is also a unnecessary spawn location at the south on the small jp-part, next to the treasure chest place. For the first one spawning there it is fine, since he can pick up a weapon there, but afterwards, it’s just too far away from the next scavenge opportunity.

Aspect Arena

The rough concept of this minigame is great. Choose between one of three skillsets, and then play some capture the flag. Again I spent the first minutes of the game learning the new skills, since there was no way to learn the skills before.

Skills: In spvp after you first enter the mists, you are spawning a learning area. Why do you don’t have such a thing for the minigames? In the Labyrinth Cliffs you learned the three core skills, but nothing more. Why not? Now with the Aspect Arena you also changed how the speed of light works. (holding the button instead of pressing it once). Why exactly was this change necessary? Personally I don’t think the Aspects are balanced at all. It’s far too easy to pick up an attunement crystal, use Speed of Light twice, and take the crystal back to your base. I think it’s overall far too easy to take the crystals back to your base.

Achievement ‘Crystal Breaker’: Now with the very easy way to take the crystals back to your base, there comes the achievement “Crystal Breaker” into play. Lucky there are enough people using their adrenalin bar for dodging, run towards the wrong base or just don’t know how to use their skills probably so can get this achievement, but kill a good player? Nearly impossible. You also need far less Crystals to capture, so I ended up in a lot of matches, where everybody was just waiting, if someone wants to pick up a crystal, so that can try to kill him, and get your achievement complete, without playing the game properly.

Lag: I played the arena on different occasions, but every time I (and my friends also) had small lag problems.

Overall: With the lag problems and the unbalanced skills, this is unfortunately NOT the quality of content we are used to see from you.

Support and Advanced Support
Should an achievement be hard to get? Definitive, but I’d prefer if it is doable for every profession / spec combination, and if not, then not temporary. Yes, I read the ArenaNet post to this topic, you said it is doable, but it is not doable f.e. for a support guardian. Yes, there is the possibility to complete it, but have you read any guide or watched any video? They are all suggesting to camp behind the mortar, pulling the collectors, and not getting the agro of most npcs. That’s not the proper way to do this! This is bugusing for me, and an achievement should be able to only get with doing so. If you think, it is also doable in a different way, please show me so arenanet. Personally I haven’t seen ANY proper video of you guys doing something difficult. Yes, you showed off, how some specs work, what to expect from the new content and so on, but really something difficult?

Minigame Rewards
Due to the reason, this event we got two minigames, I want to take some time to write about my personal opinion on the minigame-rewards.

Comparing Aspect Arena and Southsun Survival, it is very very ease to get the fantastic treasure chests in the aspect arena. It takes a lot less time to complete one game, and you don’t have to be the last one standing.

Treasure chests are nice, but why do the point don’t count towards your spvp rank, and why are you not gaining glory? Why are the Top-Stats of the matches completely useless?

I really like playing the minigames, but once I have finished the achievements, they can be even so much fun, but I don’t go back to them. For me, it is so much fun working towards something. It does not matter, if it is working towards earning achievement points, completing dailys, rank up in WvW or Spvp, but doing something else? Well yeah, when I help someone else working towards something… (f.e. playing a minigame with a friends, who does not have the achievement yet, but after that?) I don’t think, I’m the only one thinking that way.
If the minigames would be an alternative f.e. for spvp, to also rank up, it’d really love that.
