I think we’ve got a lot of outside of the game info about what Kiel and Evon will give us, but the in-game info we got isn’t half as good.

In my server there are a lot of people asking about what exactly offers each candidate because they don’t know.
The way to get info for what they’re offering (or even info about that actually they will bring things to the game) is to go talk with them and select the second option of their dialogue.

Many people are even asking where to find the candidates. I think it has been assumed that everyone would know by now for the websites, but I think people going to the internet and forums for info represent a very small percentage of the game community.

On the letters each candidate sends you, they don’t state what they will offer. So basically as it is, most players (and a lot of them didn’t even know that Evon was the leader of the Black Lion Trading Company before BotFW) have only seem in cutscenes how Evon is a shady guy (I’m not sure why cinematics are SO biased against Evon, which given the lack of ingame info will drive a lot of players to vote Kiel) and Kiel talks to you like you’re already on her side.

I want to give feedback so each candidate sends letters to the players stating the whole list with bullet points so it is clear, what exactly they will bring to the game.

Don’t just assume players have read everything in the webs or will go and talk to each candidate (many don’t even know where to find them). For what I’ve read in my server’s chat, there should be a lot more of ingame info so players know the exact consequences of what they’re offering.

I feel the LS is making me work to hard rather than play the game to enjoy it….

ANet should just add a couple of world events dragons to the world plus some cool bosses and mobs and stop with these non-sense living stories….

Well that’s not really what I’m talking about. I’ll let discussion about it being or not “work” for other threads.

The message I’m trying to send is that I’m seeing a huge lot of people completly misinformed around my server (and I’m sure many other servers) about what exactly is happening and what are the consequences of the elections.

I really think sending a letter with the bullet points of what each candidate offer will help them a lot (me and many others are doing our best to inform anyone that asks, but not all of them have answers and many will be so confused they won’t even ask.

More ingame direct information and messaging will help a lot I think.

I actually agree completely, not just this one specific LS but everything that is added in general is very badly explained.

This includes the new mini games they add where you have no tutorial or explanation of the skills. There’s a few very vague bullet points when you start up but then you’re tossed in the middle of chaos confused on what exactly to do while you’re getting your kitten kicked.

Even the actual core ideas and activities in the new LS is badly explained or lack information. Even if you read up online there’s still so much information not given.

For example how the support buttons work, why do I wanna use them to do hearts, events, dungeons etc? Is it only for achievements? Does it add anything to the voting? Does supporting them actually do anything? Why would they say we should do hearts with the buttons if there’s no achievement for the hearts… I mean I’m just left all around confused.

It’s also true there’s no information on what each candidate will give you in game, half of my guild had no idea. Why you should vote for them, how it works… I mean the list goes on.

It’s not just this LS as I previously said, every LS released has made me more confused than anything else. Usually I prefer trying to figure out what to do myself instead of looking it up online, but with the devastating lack of information given to players in game it’s pretty frustrating.

Here’s how the current installment went for me — I followed the mail message to zephyr sanctum, entered the instance… and waited for a good 5 minutes for one of them (evon and ellen) to do something. The instance does not indicate what you’re supposed to do after they’re done talking to you. Evon was telling me he wanted my support, so I figured that was the point where I was supposed to give one of them my voting tokens to proceed with the instance, but nothing happened. I figured it bugged, left, then came back, and still nothing happened. I had to check the website to find out that this instance doesn’t actually do anything, and that I was supposed to be voting with the baskets outside the instance.

I’m liking the event, this is my favorite thus far in terms of how it has changed player interactions in-game and how much fun it has made it just to go back and play lowbie events. The in-game info is not communicated very well (or at all), though. I shouldn’t have had to go to the website and look at the introduction guide to the event to know how it works, this should be explained in-game. Give a cue that it’s alright to leave the instance, and send the play another in-game mail about how to vote after s/he leaves. There are a lot of people in the sanctum who don’t know how to even vote or participate in the competition. While this isn’t a big deal, since other players will answer them, it shouldn’t be an issue. The event should have been given a little more instruction, even the most obvious things can elude use sometimes.

Lazy people not willing to read long posts.

That’s why there’s no information in game; no one would be willing to actually read up on the info.

This is something I was thinking last night when I started playing the thingy that Kiel has going. Three or four bullet points that barely explain anything don’t help much, so things tend to be frustrating for first time players, especially when they log on at 9 eastern and there have been people playing it for hours already. Dragonball had the same issue.
I ended the night a couple hours later and hadn’t managed to find the baskets where I’m supposed to put the support tokens…

Oh gosh the Aspect Arena (mini game Kiel has going on) was hell on me.

I knew what it was about and took my time to read the bullet points, I even stayed still for like a minute of game time reading what my skills did before I began (wasting precious time for the game already going on where I could be helping my team).

Then I got in there and had NO idea what to do, I was so frustrated and confused. I didn’t know if I had to kill the enemies, I mean it told me to get crystals but I couldn’t find any crystal anywhere.

It took some two to three games before I finally learned what was going on by myself and managed to be competent for my team – and that’s because I actually read the available information in game and knew what it was about before so.

I agree we could use more info in game. I do believe they inform us enough about how to play the mini games. A simple message on the screen and its up to you to figure out how to play. My opinion is there is nothing wrong with thakittens no different then entering a dungeon you have never been in. If your looking for more info its easy to find vids of almost anything from GW2. As for entering an instance and your unclear about when the instance is over, my suggestion is to understand the mechanics of instances in general. All you need to do is wait for the door symbol on the right side to flash and that indicates the instance is over. As for knowing where to go to vote and see the two candidates, well that to me was obvious since they were standing in the new area pre patch then logic would dictate that is where they are after patch. Simply zoning and checking map for the yellow swirl and I was set. Personally, I don’t do a lot of net surfing for my answers unless I am having trouble completing something then I just turn to Dulfy.net.

I’ve gotten to the point where I have to check wikis/forums and guides to ensure I don’t miss things in the game. Playing the game isn’t enough any more, you have to research each update to ensure you don’t miss out on things. It’s worse when you consider that the content is temporary and some achievements are time gates (charge the crystals, do x dailies while repping etc). I think it’s a huge mistake to put in dozens of check list mechanics instead of real content which promotes the original goals of the game – exploration and interaction with the world, but even if you accept the check list game design, it’s incredibly difficult to follow sometimes. I might not spend much time looking at my UI in GW2 during combat, but I spend a hell of a lot of time staring at the achievement panel figuring out dailies and whatever the new Living Story check lists are telling me how to play for the month.

Given how in the internet support for Evon is apparently vastly superior to support for Kiel, I really think that her early 52% to 48% advantage is basically because an enourmous percentage of the playerbase isn’t well informed (I still see people not knowing where to find stuff and we’re already advanced through the event) and just looking at the cutscenes where Evon is protrayed as a villian they go and vote for Kiel by default.

It will be a shame if Kiel wins because of lack of easy direct access of information and biased cutscenes.

Please if you don’t do it this time (and there is plenty of time yet to do this), at least in the future try to be more direct with the way you inform the playerbase instead of assuming they will go looking to the internet.

This has been the case for many Living Story iterations, but this is the first time this lack of information will affect we all (informed and uninformed players) as more direct information about what will exactly happen could change the outcome of this and the repercussions are permanent for all.
