Umm… what? With those you can get 2 skins which will net you somewhere around 150 gold. That’s more than you would have got by converting those gems directly into gold, which is a lot better than what you usually get from the chests.

Nah, not specific enough since legit issue can still be brought up like cost, practical suggestions, and bug/glitches specific to the Black Lion Company.

The Black Lion Chest now has a common chance to drop Black Lion Ticket Scraps and a rare chance to drop Black Lion Claim Tickets, which can be redeemed for Aetherblade weapon skins

1 in 50, meaning 2%, sounds rare to me and 13 in 50, meaning 26% sounds common to me. Bear in mind the statistical error between 4% and 13% for your sample size of 50, dependant on the actual values of these chances.

Black Lion Chest Keys are now a rare drop from the Black Lion Chest. Most key drops have been replaced by Black Lion Ticket Scraps.

Being rare, I am not surprised you got 0 again given the small sample size.
What exactly did you expect when you read a “rare” or “common” chance?

I am all for the “Do not buy RNG boxes” campaign, I never buy them, but that does not mean that every complaint against them is valid. If 2% and 25% are indeed the drop rates, then I think they are exactly as advertised. If you decide to buy them, you take your chances as advertised and I do not understand why you are complaining so loudly when they give you exactly what they said they will give you.

And you guys want to vote for Gnashblade. Lols. This would have been a good opportunity to voice your opinion against the unfairness of the BLTC, but instead most people are hypnotized by some long lost god … like many people on Earth. The irony.

But a little more back on topic, some people will always complain when they don’t get what they want and even if they do, they will complain that it isn’t enough.

Lol, i opened 37 chests and got 13 scraps = 1.3 tickets. You opened 50 chests and got 2.3 tickets. Someone please do the math. -_-

Yes they can, but he took his $50 to a CASINO and got the buffet and a few trinkets to show for it. The simple truth here is that anyone willing to gamble on BLC isn’t actually trying to be smart with their money, so they shouldn’t be surprised or livid when they come up short. Buying BLC to get more keys is….well, just not that smart (especially since ANet TOLD everyone the days of “retries” with the chests was pretty much over).

If everyone was able to get a full set of skins for $50, they wouldn’t be very exclusive. That is exactly why skins like this are only available for a limited time and require effort to obtain. I’m not saying the method for obtaining these skins isn’t questionable, but ANet is being very up front about the odds and that they are going to cost you (not crazy that it’s not a set price, but that’s the price for some exclusiveness).

They aren’t exclusive. I can any one of these skins today if I wanted to. They will be on the TP for a long time after this event. ArenaNet isn’t being upfront by saying rare. Telling people the exact drop rate would be upfront. Using the word “rare” is not. Some people might consider finding a blue shiverpeak bow in Wayfairer Foothills rare. I don’t even care about whether or not they are being upfront, if people have been around for a few months, they should know that the RNG chests are an incredibly unfair system which disregards customer satisfaction. What I do care about is that ArenaNet is still using that system instead of opting for one which is more respectful of their supporters.

My condolences to you for not seeing the point of Lottery. It’s exciting knowing you have a chance of receiving something for putting in very little.

That’s all it is, it shouldn’t be your sole source of excitement, but rather a token anticipation. If you don’t see that, that’s perfectly fine and normal, but don’t insult others who do see it that way.

Lottery is a negative to those who EXPECT positive turnouts but constantly let down afterwords. The only way for some to cure this constant chain is to keep trying with more expectation of paying out. Where the addiction unfortunately sets in.

It should be used in stride and as with many, many other things in life to enjoy, balanced.

Only buy keys if you are willing to lose all your money. The golden rule of the RNG.

I am sure that was written as sarcasm, but I will take that as a compliment and say Thank you, as I try to look at every aspect in an open minded, positive way. Though sometimes topics that hold something dear can be hard to keep that philosophy.

I do see where RNG is perceived as a negative, but you can also see just how many people still press their luck. I am trust trying to provide my insight on balancing the RNG and hopefully getting that particular “shiny” a person might want.

Granted, there is no law which ArenaNet must abide by stating they must inform their customers to take breaks, don’t get addicted to RNG, etc. like the Lottery in the USA has to.

Just have to stay clear of the “Rat Race” of RNG and see it as a positive rewarding feature

Now, on to find the zen state of mind.

Now if arenanet applied this type of mindest to things maybe we wouldn’t have the travesty of gambling.

You’ll buy more keys. You know you will. The next release will come in and the Black Lion Chest will come pleading like an ex-boyfriend “But I have changed! Really! There’s a common chance to get my goodies now!”, and you will say “ok, but this is your last chance!”.

Then he starts asking you for money to support his reform but you’ll find out he is just sending it to Evon Gnashblade and fueling his bad habits. So you will kick him out again, and proceed to come scream on the forums about how betrayed you feel, how great of a girlfriend you were and the good intentions that were behind the investments you made in him just to be lied to and left empty handed in the end.

However, instead of getting the comfort and support that you expect from the community, you will be ridiculed and just made to feel worse because everyone will tell you its your fault for giving him the money and enabling him.

This will happen over and over again, because you cant let go of the hope that one time it really will be different. And maybe, just a little bit…you enjoy the abuse.

Complaining about not getting what you expected from a RNG item is what is getting tired and childish. People compaining about every new Living world event, achievement, and minigame is what is getting tired and childish. The same arguement applies to both. You don’t have to do it if it is not fun for “YOU”…not all aspects are fun to everyone, but every time you log in, you get to choose what you want to do in-game.

Also buying 50 BL chests now instead of holding off for the potential of Evon winning the election and potentially getting ~100 chests for the same price is just plain dumb, so I can’t even take his complaint seriously. It’s like when one of my kids hits her knee on the table and then gets made at the table. The only person to blame is yourself, the table did not change.

Look, this isn’t hard. This is reminding me a lot of my Magic days and the people telling me to quit buying boosters if I was after a specific card. Rather, save the money I was spending on boosters and get the single card from a store selling it. Or trade stuff I didn’t use for it.

If you want the skins . . . get the skins directly via the Trading Post. Turn that $50 in Gems into gold.

It sucks to lose when you gamble, but if you lost because you gambled, don’t blame the game.

I think the whole issue is tiring. Really. But I won’t simply blame such players. True, some people demand too much but I think ANet is partially at fault for taking steps backwards on my opinion in regards to the mechanics to get these new skins. It wasn’t perfect and all but I was quite happy enough with how they did the Kite fortunes and those fortune scraps. It’s easy: u either get a (super) rare chance to get one whole golden ticket or you get a small bit of scrap. PLUS, the kite fortunes themselves are not too rare (and if you like, are available for direct purchase from gemstore) Either way you progress. The current mechanic has way too much chance for you to NOT get any progression at all towards getting the skin. That is what annoys me and many others I figure.

As I said elsewhere, getting skins and making toons to specific themes and looks (cosmetics) is what I consider fun, among other things in this game. If this is gated in a most annoying way, similiar minded people will complain. Blocked by challenge and skill level is one thing, blocked by simply being ‘unlucky’ is stupid.

But I do agree, after all this people should just realize it is not worth it playing this RNG casino aspect of the game and use other, more certain methods.

Personally I believe Anet is a money grubber taking advantage of people with OCD and gambling addictions; but I think your being a tad to dramatic OP. You should count your blessings. With luck like that you should be running out the door to buy a lottery ticket.

4500 gems=105.1695 gold if selling
4500 gems=145.5705 gold if buying

So if you consider the price of weapons, you made out pretty well. You could even sell the weapons, buy back all the gems with gold, and still have a profit left over.

Not much reason to complain seeing as you didn’t even lose out.

Seems kind of extreme for rare weapons unless it was some sort of bundle pack. There are 19 weapons to a full set. Just take a look at the gem store winter weapons. People found those fair, but a full set would still have been 9500 gems if they had one for every type.
Heck, even a full set of berserker’s pearl weapons is 84g.

Getting skins for Gems is overpriced. You know it, i know it, pretty much everyone knows it.

So, if you all could stop buying into it, that would be great. That, or stop crying about about the situation you keep bringing upon yourselves.
