“When asked whom he plans to vote for in the election at the heart of the upcoming Cutthroat Politics release, Johanson expressed his support for Evon Gnashblade and went on to explain that the story impact of selecting a winner will go far beyond the perks associated with each candidate. Evon Gnashblade and Ellen Kiel are characters with wildly distinct personalities and might use their Council votes in very different ways for years to come. Players who are more interested in funding for their favorite built-from-scratch Fractals of the Mists scenario had better hustle to get their votes counted, though: Johanson said that it was unlikely that the losing concept would ever be built, as he feels that doing so would cheapen the impact of the final decision. However, he did make the lighthearted suggestion that mass player protests and political demonstrations could change that.”

Much better if the epicness of the War of the Gods and the Fall of Abaddon are not reduced to a thirty-min-long, sub-par, Zhaitan 2.0 fractal instead of the God of War magnitude, DLC-length bonus mission it should be made into.

I’d gladly pay the price of 4000 gems if it were to be made a DLC.

Because they’ll totally make a DLC pack because you said they should…

If they’re smart…

In the end, it will be their loss as well if they don’t implement either options in one way or the other.

Good! This makes our vote actually significant!

It doesn’t look like Anet is going to pursue the dlc or paid expansion model in the foreseeable future. Not in 2013, going into 2014, at least. I think they are taking the route of Eve Online with many free small content updates, supported by the gem store instead of subs.

Even if they change their minds in 2014, we probably won’t see anything until mid 2015 at the earliest.

If it’s not built as a fractal, it’s not breaking the rules, now is it?

It makes some people’s vote significant. Everyone who votes for the losing person may as well have never voted at all.

Colin is right about making the vote rather worthless if they end up implementing both regardless. However, I think they could keep bringing out more of these votes and allow players to decide if they ever want to see Thaumanova over other subjects. Though to be honest, the reactor is not very compelling when compared against a myriad of possible lore topics, so if our reading is correct that Evon has this one in the bag, we may indeed never see the reactor unless it comes in as part of a larger, non-elective fractal update.

It wouldn’t be worthless if they implemented the second one afterwards. It would essentially mean your voting for priority not exclusivity. I can tell you now, getting something first is a big deal. Consider how much players want to see their class buffs and how tired people get of seeing other classes get major work done first.

I find the reactor to be an interesting one, based on my personal story choices. There’s mention of reactor malfunction tearing a hole in space which gets more interesting with the steam ogre in the prominent position at the center of the reactor.

According to the Asura personal story with the Infinity Ball, the steam creatures were created by the PC, under slightly different circumstances. I’m inclined to see the world that, er, I created, even as scattered region in the mists…

I hope that we would not be missing out on important lore though. If we keep the lore and just miss the fractal then I would be more ok with this.
