Why is the bonus time set to 4 weeks? For wanting Living story to impact the world permanently this is terrible. Why can someone we elect into office only promise a price decrease for 4 weeks?

The bonuses that each side gives should be for a full year. Assuming that there will be another election type event next year this would help reflect what the community wants at a given point in the GW2 timeline.

If for some reason you are unable to play for a month because of work and family commitments it means that all the effort you put in to this living story will not bear any fruits.

They don’t want to lose money on key sales for a whole year – 4 weeks is enough time for the “omg sale!!” boost to overcome the lower price, but a whole year is too long and they will lose money overall.

Similarly, 4 weeks of reduced gold sink if kiel wins is not that big a deal, but a whole year will probably have a noticable effect on the economy.

And the can’t play because of work/family commitments applies to ALL temporary content (aka almost everything new they’ve added) which is why temp content is bad imo, but that’s a different thread.

Also, I don’t believe being on the Captain’;s Council of Lion’s Arch is a one-year term. I’m sure many people will be up for killing whoever wins to make a spot for another election next year, but I wouldn’t count on it.

They could make the discount be less than what was planned for the 4 weeks but make it last a year.

If you were participating in an election and the candidate said “I will lower gas prices for 4 weeks, and then they will go back up” Who would think that that short amount of time is worth their vote?

Which option sounds better as a promise from the candidate?

After I am elected I will make X Free for 5 seconds
After I am elected I will make X discounted by 30% for 4 weeks
or
After I am elected I will make X discounted by 5% for 1 year

The candidate isn’t there for only 4 weeks, we’ll most likely see more from them in the future.

Their if you elect me promise only lasts for 4 weeks
