More mini games? What about the core game?
[EU] Gandara
i stated at the beginning of this ‘every-two-weeks’ initiative that i saw the potential for any characters i was in the process of building to fall off, as my innate nature is to collect the achievements. that is happening.
i left wow, i left rift, i left other games because i was sick of the gear grind. it occurs to me that this may be a different kind of grind, and if i choose not to participate in it, i WILL certainly miss out on some lore that they expand through this medium. but i’m really not sure how long i’ll continue wishing to chase the new content, rather than continue building my baby characters.
I really wish they’d just make more open world zones with events. We need more variety in lvl80 zones, all we have is snow and undead… how about a Kryta 80 zone?
I totally agree with this, each event adds more pointless minigames that aren’t even a part of the main game.
What about the beautiful world that’s stale and empty? Or events that repeat ad nauseam, and aren’t updated themselves? I love that they’re adding in new zones like Southsun (even though the zone itself leaves much to be desired), and Zephyr Sanctum but making minigames like Sprint, Survival and Arena a focal point of “stuff to do” is extremely in the camp of “2-week quantity over quality”.
Updates to WvW (maps, skins etc), changing the existing world so we see Orr after Zhaitan, or say the Aetherblades pushing other pirates out in the world would do a ton more than minigame after minigame.

If they are going to be squeezing out mini-games every two weeks, we should at least be allowed to play them with our friends…
I’d like to add my support for MORE ACTUAL PERMANENT CONTENT and LESS MINIGAMES please!!! Honestly the minigames do not have the same “polished” feel as the core game (to me, anyway), I’ve spent hours and hours (and hours!) building my actual character’s skills and abilities, and I’d rather actually open up a new, permament area of the game than scramble to learn new rules and mechanics just to play Mario Cart or 8-bit Legend of Zelda or whatever game the devs fancy at the moment for a few weeks. Honestly, after playing almost all the minigames I usually abandon them and go back to exploring the world and leveling alts.
Not trying to be harsh, and I *do appreciate that you’re adding new stuff, A-net (really, I do!), but I agree with the earlier comments on there still being lots of permanent areas that could use more stuff/monsters/challenges/content. Thanks!
perhaps through the living story, we will see more of those added to the core game, slowly.
