I just came online to ask this same question… why can’t we know who is winning so we make an “extra effort” to get our candidate back on the winning side (if they are losing that is)?

In most countries election results are not posted until the election is over. It is most likely the same case here.

Who’s to say Anet isn’t rigging this whole contest anyway. Do we see the amount of votes we did? If we had a counter, could we know it’s the actual amount of votes?

Maybe this whole thing is just to give people the illusion of choice when in fact it’s a huge themepark moneysink with the winner (Evon) being determined before it even began and Anet just posting their desired result when this is all over.

As above. There is absolutely no way we know how many votes each candidate will get, so Anet can decide either way and never be caught

However, if they’re smart they post us “statistics” where either one is at a very marginal lead, encouraging both supporters to chuck in even more money. Tested and true by various TV shows.

In more most democratic countries like Belgium, election results are only given after all offices closed. Imho that makes far more sense.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised with 102% for Evon.

So…what difference would it make if they showed us the progress of the elections?

IF A-Net really wanted to influence the votes noone would be able to tell at all if the shown votes were made by players or not.

If you really want your candidate to win, why not make that “extra effort” from the very beginning?

Well, I want the key price to go down, but I can’t/don’t play as much due to it being so nice outside, so I’m all up for that “do it in the last second possible” attitude

Rigged, they already know who’s won.

(hint: they get more money from it)

I’m afraid you’re right. Slashing waypoint prices will not bring any more money to Anet’s coffer. Reduced key prices on the other hand.

And look, they did a preliminary research on it already by testing this new ticket scrap thing with the chests. Determining from the forums it’s working too.

False assumptions.
It depends on whether or not the reduced key cost will be a great enough stimulation to buy at least as many more keys as the reduction costs. E.g. if it’s 50% reduction they need to sell at least double the amount of keys.

Considering the appeal of the chests is already high due to the tickets and considering the initial burst will die off before the actual election and thus reduction, it might very well be that they could lose money by Evon winning.
