With Cutthroat Politics, ArenaNet created something that will resonate through years.

We will never forget how we were robbed of the Fall of Abaddon.

This turned out to be a bad design. Thousands of players are left disappointed, including some of the devs.

Yes, I am angry and I have every right to be! My anger flows through me and fuels me to vigorously write posts of feedback hoping someone reads it and prevents this from happening again.

Was Cutthroat Politics designed to make me angry like it just did? And the thing with heralds…

Why do people accept for granted that the Abadon fractal will be the greatest thing ever? Why do you even think it will be good?
First of all, for the regular fractal runners, fractals must not be longer than 20 minutes.
Then i read somewhere people are imagining the fight with Abadon to be a shadow of colossus type of thing, which is obviously not happening. At most, he’ll be a texture in the background whille we kill magic crystals.
Fractals are not even that good at telling a story. The whole thing that made the fall of abadon good lore was the mystery behind it. Just being there will ruin everything behind it. Just like it happened with the first encounter with Abadon.

On the other hand, why do people think the Reactor will be bad? As far as i’m aware CoE has given us probably the most lore so far, so i don’t know why people keep bringing it up as a bad thing. You don’t even fight inquest in CoE, you fight dragon minions.

It generated strong emotions, lively discussion, lots of roleplaying and an event which will be talked about for a while. For better or worse, any games dev would be jumping for joy at the reaction their game has got.

I think this was a success. Player investment into the game was higher than ever. Angry or not we cared very much for what was going on in the game. Like any election there will be sides and it’s up to us to be a good sport when things don’t go our way in a competition.

Yeah I was looking forward to getting to see Tyria 1,326 years ago. I never thought we’d even get the chance to go so far back into Tyria’s history. Boggles my mind just thinking what everything was like back then.

I don’t think that any game dev would want to deal with the fallout as a result. This was a double edged sword for sure.

Yeah because kitten ing off 48% of your playerbase is something all game developers should hope to achieve..

Anger leads to hate. Which we all know leads to the dark side.
