The Fall of Abaddon

I vote for unique lore. That has an effect in the present day of GW2.
Unlike lazily watching some non-god NPC magically defeating a god. And somehow absorbing it’s power to become a God.
If anyone thinks the reactor is a generic explosion than they haven’t been paying attention.
The fractal would be about the first fall of Abaddon. Not when players defeated him in Nightfall.

For the billionth time. This is not the fight that had Kormir in the Realm of Torment. This is the battle that happened 1000 years earlier that turned the Crystal Sea into the Crystal Desert.

Another 1000 years in the past makes those events less relevant to current events in GW2.

Without those “1000 years in the past events” we wouldn’t have the current GW2, there wouldn’t be any Thaumanova reactor in the first place.

So let’s see, seeing the previous rise of the ED is also irrelevant right ? It takes place more than 10 000 years in the past…
While I agree that we don’t have the context of the fight, we know the gist of the lore, so I’d much rather get the Thaumanova, where we only know speculation.

Lore of the Fall of Abbadon:
Hey look, I can copy wiki too :
“Thaumanova Reactor is the location of a ruined asuran city in northwest Metrica Province. It was recently destroyed by an Inquest experiment gone awry, occurring beneath the city and the reactor exploding and subsequently releasing chaos magic. Due to the large amount of chaos magic in the area, creatures from across the continent get transported in and out of the area. The Thaumanova Reactor is divided into five main sections: the southwest which has been turned arctic, the southeast which has become poisonous, the northeast and lower area containing the river with an aquatic aspect, the north which contains fire-based creatures, and the central, the location of the explosion. After the explosion, the energy source that the Inquest was experimenting on was moved to the Thaumacore Inquiry Center in Toxal Bog, causing the chaos effect to spread northward. This effects of the underground experiment also affected other areas such as Chaos Crystal Cavern in Iron Marches. "
What honestly do you expect to see in the fractal ? I only want Abaddon to see a fight of epic proportions and maybe more information. But Thaumanova ? if the lore learned there was oh so important, they wouldn’t wonder about whether or not to put it in the game.
But what were the inquest researching? Who/what caused the explosion? Considering a fractal is being built, it’s most likely not just a failed experiment.
And it’s extremely vague. If there’s one thing that Anet loves to be is being extremely vague. That way they can get away with anything.
That fractal could be : you’ll be an Inquest member, wander around the lab, kill dragon spawns (risen, ect) then you see a text message indicating that the lab will explode, while trying to escape you might get to fight something new (or Subject Alpha) and then you escape just in time.
Or it could be really great.
But it probably won’t. If those events were so relevant, they wouldn’t limit themselves to a fractal. Yet they are.
and everything you pointed out is exactly the same for the abbadon fractal exept that lore wise nothing new would be added.

You know nothing. The Fall of Abaddon was when Tyrians in the human kingdoms began recording time. The event was that important. We know absolutely nothing about the details of the Fall of Abaddon. Was it the 5 Gods against just Abaddon? Did the Margonites enter the battle? Was King Doric’s army involved? What did Abaddon look like at the time? Was he the corrupted monster we saw in Nightfall (probably not) or was he just another humanoid God. and WHY was he so mad that the Gods took magic away from Tyria? Maybe he knew about the elder dragons when the other Gods did not.
He defeated one of the 5 Gods during this battle. Who was it? Maybe we can get some answers as to WHY they left Tyria in the first place. It is extremely relevant to GW2 if you actually know an ounce of lore. If one or two of those questions gets answered it is worth knowing.

Honestly if it is just golems, Arenanet needs some serious new story writers and developers. I am expecting something epic regardless what it is.

…are you arguing for the sake of arguing ?
I basically said that they could do anything they wanted with TR, and you say they can do the same thing with Abaddon ?
But like you pointed it out, they can’t. We know enough thing about it to prevent them from doing something lazy. There isn’t a single thing we currently have in game that they can use for Abaddon Fall (monsters, environnement).
But TR ? Inquest inquest inquest and dragon spawn. And maybe, just maybe, a thing symbolizing chaos energy.

I don’t think we’d be fighting against the Inquest in the fractal. If we were, we’d most likely be the ones causing the explosion.
Some of you guys need to remember what the fractals are in the first place. They are echoes/representations of the past. Therefore, nothing in the fractals is fact. A thaumanova fractal WILL NOT give us any new lore, it will just be further material for us to speculate on. We won’t learn anything.
We should be voting on which fractal will give us the best gameplay experience. We already know what happens in the Fall of Abaddon but hey, the ride will certainly be a lot more fun than another asura lab thingy. We’ll get to see things we wouldn’t otherwise be able to see, like the Crystal Sea, the Margonites, and god knows what else. Thaumanova? More inquest, golems and lab equipment. Boring.
I want the Asuran Half-Life fractal!
I want the Fall of Dhuum fractal (rise of Grenth).
I want the Fall of Dhuum fractal (rise of Grenth).
To see the GW2 interpretation of UW would rock so hard.

Actually, this would be pre-GW1 UW where we have the 7 Reapers (and Grenth) taking down Dhuum.

That’s right. They would have an excuse to totally revamp the area.
Edit – I meant with GW2 graphics and art design.
Ahh, I thought you meant UW just with more current-age graphics.
Fall of Abaddon is over a 1000 year old lore, myth and legend. It should remain so. By wanting to see this event you are taking all the romanticism out of the event. More recent events should be more clearly explained.
I do think Anet can explain older lore in other ways. Like NPC conversations, book to read/collect, in game plays in the theater at DR.
