First let me say this game is awesome, there are just three small things…

1. Karka/enemy NPC’s kill this game heavily. They one shot way too easily, just what this game needed more was to hate karka with more passion

2. Supplies. Supplies only being found in 3 camps causes players to cluster in them and it just isn’t fun. People just swing away. There is way too many people for only 3 camps. Either make supplies more accessiable outside of the camps or reduce player count

3. Spirits are outrageously overpowered.

In the Hunger Games at least, the point of having clusters of supplies was to get participants to attack each and encourage conflict. I think it’s a legit way to keep the matches at a manageable length.

Karka ganking is seriously annoying though.

As to the points, I think you can get the meta without survival if you run fractals and dungeons and go over and do 20 events in Diessa plateau.

Yea I guess with the supplies, I’d still like to have more camps for us. At least 2. I just despise the karka and the spirits ability to just summon them anywhere. Game would be ten times as more fun without them. I hope they patch them out soon, at this point I’m just sticking with aspect arena if I want to have fun.

I really couldnt care less about meta… its about achievement points.

Lets just face it… its boring. Start takes way too long, getting supplies isnt really that interesting because at the beginning EVERYBODY is just gathering supplies.

Then you get to use some headshots… and a couple few just run away… hide… until they dont have any supplies anymore and die.

Map is way too big, skills are way too slow for this to have even the slightest potential of being interesting.

I mean, aspect thingy is bad enough for all those who experience lots of lags in sanctum sprint and arena. But at least its over in a few hours.

This game was great fun until they stealth patch the amount of food you could find from ever passion fruit or from supple chest now its near impossible to survive because of lack of food every time i die it because of hunger, which is not fun.

Before i was winning every game with me hiding jumping out kill player coming to close to my hide spot and hiding again, now you cant hide you have to run around like headless chicken before you stave to death. You may as well stay in the camp you spawn in now what the point of a massive map if leaving just kill you due to hunger.

TLDR was fun before the food stealth nurf now it not!

Didn’t even know they had more food before. Honestly spirits shouldn’t be able to deal damage to players at all or summon karka, It should be able to notify other players of locations, manipulate their inventory with that trap, maybe put fake salvage stuff or passions that when you salvage them nothing happens. Things like that. Not summoning one hit behemoths and applying torment by stackign 30 traps on a single person.

Imo do that, cut the player amount in half, then you’ll be good.

dead players summoned karka is a revenge feature and is working as intended. if you killed a participant very early on, you should expect their revenge.

2. at the moment, supplies are only found in the right side of the map. i think this is to keep players in a small area. the supplies do run out though. i noticed the blue icon turning grayed out. i think it means no more supplies in those area?

3. i think the ghost system has a subliminal message. kinda like advising us to think carefully before we kill a fellow participant.

And thats why you can spawn karkas / do dmg to players in mistform. Because yes, a lot of players started to just HIDE and the game would go on… and on…. and on…. and on… until all ran out of food.

Some things to keep in mind.

1. There is a 2 minute grace period. If you kill someone within the first 2 minutes you are actually helping them. They respawn at a far away camp with plenty of time to stock up on supplies and be safe from players.

2, When you kill someone they need to get 10 glowy balls to summon a kakra. every time you search a supply you spawn a ball for them. This means there are a lot of players and kakras near the camps. Once you kill someone, immediately move to a different camp.

3. Make sure to grab a players supplies after you kill them. Best way to get rations.

Easiest way to win southsun survival: at the beginning get all the rations you can from middle pile, run south east gathering every passiflora you see ( dodge roll the traps when timer hits 0, it actually works and negates damage), after the grace period ends, do the jump puzzle. AFK on top of jump puzzle and use your 5-6 rations to win 80-90% of the time. (it depends on if dead players kill the other players or another guy has more rations than you and hiding ina better spot)

hmmm is this still viable? i thought someone said they stealth nerfed the food rations so participants cannot horde too many food rations or something.

by the way, even though one may be the last man standing this one, one may not necessarily get lots of points, unless some changes is made.

at the moment, the best way to get points seems to be, playing aggressively, keep on killing players for points, until they kill you in ghost form, then follow live players to collect revenge notes and kill them too.

i dun see other ways to get more scores faster.

If you’re after the achievements, I imagine the best way to do it would be to:

1. Do the “Hide” tactic first to get the last man standing achievement.

2. Once that’s done, switch tactics and be as aggressive as possible. Get yourself killed off quickly so you can kill off enemy players as often as possible as a Ghost. (This also has the side-benefit of speeding matches up.)

You might want to coordinate with other players so that a person who needs the LMS standing achievement is left alone while everybody slaughters everyone else to make matches go faster. Then, next match, another player gets picked to be the LMS and everybody else takes turns after that.

I can understand why A-net gave the ability for mists to attack players, as it prevents “everyone hide and whoever has the most food wins.” However, I think the same purpose could be achieved through normal, or even hatchling karka. Champion karka are just way too big. Their range is crazy and their shots are fast. Furthermore, I think they mist-spawned NPC’s should be killable. It should be a risky decision to attack one, but it should be killable if played right.

Other than that, the only complaint I have is: make the drop rate for rations higher from the random goods. If not that, then make passaflora respawn throughout the fight, until only 5-3 people remain, then cut their respawn. Because, right now, if you don’t make a rush for the passaflora at the start, you’re a dead man.

I find ghosts can be quite overpowered once enough people die and they ALL target you.
Everytime you loot something, they get more powerful, and then they spam traps and karka around you till you die.
So the only real way to guarantee victory is in the 2 minute grace period, horde as many rations as you can, then kill people around corners then hide, working off your rations while the ghosts hunt down the other guy or he dies from hunger.

I personally think the game concept is awesome and anyone who has watched the hunger games can relate to it. Start the match, get whatever you can from the pile and run… and then you decide what you gonna do with what you have in your hands.
Got the gun and the guy in front of you has 2 rations and no weapon? Bad luck, you need that ratio to survive later on.
If people just want more ration to stock up and hide, imagine if 20 people had 10 stacks of ratio and just hide waiting for the other player to be killed by hunger…
Ok, so now you cut the ration supply to minimum, and everyone needs it… That’s what makes the game interesting, if you have that ration you better find some arrows and protect yourself, because as soon as I see you have ration, you’re my target. Or do you want to do like most people and “I won’t shoot you if you don’t shoot me” and starve to death?

I believe the map size is ok, if all 3 camps were close to each other, there wouldn’t be much strategy. Sure it’s a pain in the kitten running from one camp to another, but if you’re being hunt on a camp, or someone just spawned a karka, you better have ration and arrows to protect yourself on your way to the other camp. Though I do believe there should be more scavenger options between camps, specially because at camps I scavenger and most of the time I find nothing.

At the end, it all comes down to surviving. If your strategy is to simply stock on rations and hide… You’ll have to battle to find that ration, and not just scavenger the entire match… Or you hunt down the guy that stocked up on rations and steal it from him.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that not killing someone right after grace is smart, but I can’t control everyone

What I see happening with the spirits is that they aren’t punishing hiders at all. They simple die, get karkas/warning traps and chase people that are actually playing and running around. If i want to win, i go and get passiflora, head west, and hide with 8+ rations. I win every time. Sometimes ill get a vantage point and just watch survivors running from camp to camp scavenging get kitten d by 4+ karkas, or get 6+ stacks of torment on them . What basically is happening is the game is rewarding players for dieing wayyy to much. Heck the guides online say the best way to get points is to kill yourself right away after grace ends. That alone should really be enough to warrant a change in the system of spirits.

My advice is putting in these “markers” on the map that are sections of the map. Spirits can then contribute revenge emotes to these markers and it can only be done 1 min after grace ends. The ground will rumble and make noticeable animations to signal to players that that ground is about to become bad. When ti goes off anyone inside of it dies.

Spirits should contribute to leading players into each other. THEY SHOULD NOT contribute to killing by spamming alarms, to just decimating groups of players with karkas, and shutting down entire camps. Players are being punished way tooo hard for not hiding and actually scavenging.

I don’t like how the ghosts’ karka skill = certain death. You should have the chance of escaping the karka trap, IF, you have the skill/speed (..like in Hunger Games) But no, the karka’s range is huge, their attacks are literally, inescapable (you can’t dodge/outrun them at all. i once died when the attack didn’t physically hit me -_-) and of course they one-shot you. I like that ghosts can make it harder for survivors to live, but they shouldn’t be able to actively KILL. The very idea of that is really farcical, and like others said, it actively punishes people who are actually surviving rather than those who horded and hide early in the game. It prevents the face-to-face combat that would happen when ppl would be forcd to turn on each other to steal other’s things. One idea is that the karka skill functions more as a way to close up more of the map’s borders and force people to return closer to the center.

If you run just as it spawns, and dodge it’s first shot, you can get away quite easily. It’s really not too hard to get away if you act fast.

However, if a ghost decides to get 14 orbs before attacking and uses the knockdown trap around the time they summon the karka…good luck with that one, I don’t know of any tricks to survive that.

Best case: you survive but lose your supplies to the trap. You starve.

Lucky not quite as many people know to do that when they are a ghost, but even without the karka, the traps are a death sentence.

The ghosts kill the people they can see, and the people not doing anything or running away from the hot spots are very safe. The only role they play is “He killed me, I’ll spam traps on him and summon a karka in his face” or “afk until this game ends”.

This is the opposite of what you suggest they do.

Joking right? There is no way this type of game is for you if you think it takes too long. This is the first mini-game I actually appreciate, it requires you to take your time consider your choices and act carefully which is a hell lot more involved then the more “Arena” styled games. My biggest complaint is that they kind of kitten the survival aspect by making the game based on quick rounds confined to a single portion of the island.

-Keep the hunger debuff constant and prevent it from stacking in intensity.
-Spread out supplies across the entire map, they need to be scarce and hard to find.
-Randomly activate and deactivate the other camps on the island as supply sources, utilize the whole map.
-Rework the scoring system so it doesn’t benefit people who die. It’s so stupid that dying first can put you at the top of the scoreboard.

That’s all it takes to solve the problems with hiding players that stock on rations, ghosts that clump together and simply attack whatever moves, the ridiculous spawns when people die in grace period, and the overall tendency to simply kill people on sight rather than make decisions based on the actual survival aspect.

Southsun Survival is going to be part of the regular mini-game rotation, and we know from past announcements that the Crab Toss (which is also coming back as part of the rotation) achievements will be achievable again. It therefore stands to reason that we’ll still be able to complete the Southsun Survival achievements even after Cutthroat Politics ends when the game makes its return.

The “run away and hide with lots of rations” approach makes for long, boring rounds. Even when I can find the hiding players, it’s rare that I can actually do anything to them as a ghost — revenge motes are plentiful at the beginning, but rather scarce later on.

There are a few ways that have been discussed to prevent this. Lowering ration cap, increasing spawns of supplies closer together as time goes on, increasing the rate of hunger degeneration as time goes on, giving the ghosts faster mote respawn, giving the ghosts better skills to speed along the end of the round (i.e., killing players faster), et cetera.

As far as the summoned karka go… pfft. They’re strong, sure. But they’re really not hard to run away from.
