I’m really wondering by what margin either is going to win. To me it seems like a no-brainer … Kiel. But apparently some people have set their eyes on Evan for whatever reason that eludes me.

That makes me wonder. Before, I thought it pretty obvious … 80+% for Kiel, but apparently Evan is gaining some fans who didn’t kill Abaddon in the first game or want to buy lots of keys. Maybe it’ll be closer .. maybe Evan would win .. maybe this is just a videogame???

You must be new in these parts.

Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.

It’s not the same fight from GW1. This one happens over 1000 years prior to that game.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Timeline

What really enticed me about that battle, was that you were never given all the information about it in a single exposition. You got little bits here and there during the nightfall campaign. And you got more pieces of the puzzle if you ventured off from the main story and explored side quests and went into nooks and crannies to speak to npcs. Then, as you pieced it together(while playing nightfall), you started to see how Abbadon’s story ties into the events you experienced in Prophecies and Factions, and that realization was pretty cool.

So to me the story is not just the plot, but how I experienced it as a player. I think that is what entices a lot of GW1 veterans.

The forums seem to favour Evon, but honestly? I suspect the silent majority of GW2 players, who don’t follow the lore and don’t really pay much attention to the Living Story, will look at the two and go “Who’s this Charr? The woman looks prettier/hotter/friendlier. I’ll vote for her.” :P

That’s true. Too bad they gave the less attractive candidate the more epic content.

Also more people are affected by WP costs than use BL keys. Paying to WP is among the most common complaints I hear from players, particularly new ones.

Luckily votes are won via effort and not simply by existing. The lazy majority wont be the ones determining this race.

Might be a bad idea.

The seat would be won by ‘$$LF1M WARRIOR PING GEAR OR KICK$$’.

You have to get the votes where they are. CoF gathers many players (how close they are from brainlessi bots or vegetative state is not the question), so more potential votes for Evon. (intentional typo to avoid the kitten)
Moreover, they are used to Charrs : they see them every single minute they spend in thus dungeon (!) so they won’t be afraid of Evon !

I like how everyone assumes that Evon’s fractal is going to be more epic, simply because Abaddon is going to be in it. We don’t know how much we are going to see of him in it, or of the other gods for that matter. For all we know, the whole fractal could be just us taking down his human Margonite followers.

Trying to get that fractal, just because of Abaddon, is basically buying the name and not the product, since we have no idea what is in either of them.

I’m not necessarily assuming it to be more epic, but I’m vastly more interested in lore that conects to GW1 and Elona, than stuff about the Inquest and the Elder Dragons. When I came to Tyria, EDs weren’t even a thing, that’s some modern day knick-knack. Back in the day we also couldn’t just use waypoints, we had to walk through the whole instance… 30 miles through the snow, with bare feed!

You don’t win friends with salad! Sorry I just got caught up in the rhythm.

I do wonder where they plan to go with Thaumanova, should that Kiel happen to win. What we know about the site is that the “fabric of existence was turned inside out”, opening portals to.. everywhere and anywhere. Sometimes you see those steam mech creatures in there, which makes me wonder..

In the asura personal story, it is hinted that the steam mech creatures come from an alternate future, having been invented by your evil future self who used them to gain power. If that’s something they wanted to explore, it might be quite interesting, it has that Walter Bishop / Fringe ring to it that I like. Then again I only played GW1 and factions so Abbadon doesn’t really mean much to me beyond “ooh it’s awesome” from players who did.

If they gave Ellen the Abaddon Fractal AND reduced waypoints, there would be no competition. Evan Gnashblade hinges entirely on that one promise, which is not relevant to me. I know the story already.

Well, any reason why anyone would vote for Kiel would be very superficial as well, so…

In the sense that someone who’s read a 3 sentence summary “knows the story” of the Sack of Babylon.

I know the story too, at least as much as any GW1 player could know. What I want see is what the Crystal Sea looked like. I want to see the GW2 interpretation of the Forgotten, Margonites and God avatars. And of course I want to see the creation of the Mouth of Torment with the striking down of Abbadon himself.

I already know, generally, what the reactor will look like because I do the Fire ele often. And I am pretty sure we will be fighting mostly Inquest, golems, aatxes and shadow fiends. All stuff I have seen plenty of already.

Sadly if there was an online poll trolls would kitten it up sadly. So we probly won’t know who wins till it is over.
