Where was the "pirate election"?

There was a pirate near the baskets that sold tickets for outrageous prices. Tadaa.
Nameless Inversion/Ascension/Evasion/Ruination/Impression/Perdition/Compassion/Tactician
Guild Wars 2 will be an amazing game when it’s finished. Compare Prophecies to EotN!
I already said this in another thread. I expected more from the elections. Some last minute scam from Evon maybe. Like vote 50 times for me and you get this cute mini or backpack. Something like this.
I didn’t really get the “Cutthroat” part of the event title. There was nothing cutthroat about it, no bickering between the two contestants, no back and forth, no surprise promise to turn things around, no revealed scandal. Some update ingame letters to inform players about the vote and the current poll data would have been nice, too. Maybe even a letter from Ellen or Evon to urge us to vote for them.
Basically they could have been done more to make the voting more exciting.
No, it was not a pirate election, it was rather uneventful.
I was wondering the same thing. The support tokens were to see who would get the contract, not who would win the seat (since the council picks the replacement, not the people).
Granted, it is heavily implied that the person who got the contract would be a shoe in, but having pirates allow an election to dictate what they do just seems incredibly “un-pirate-y” of them.
Up. OMG so much this ! It would be funny to at least watch debate, where candidates share some sly insults or give controversal views on some matters regarding Tyria. There would be also scandals. At least I do not want to see ,,cutthroat,, being literall .

Buying things from someone is pretty much the opposite of piracy. Just sayin.
I always thought pirate elections were won by the guy who didn’t get thrown overboard to the sharks…
Or is that just Jack Sparrow…
