What new perspective can Kiel bring to the Captain Council if we already have Magnus, leader of the Lionguard?

Kiel at best is Robin to Magnus’ Batman. She would be completly redundant as there is already a Lionguard (the leader of the Lionguard) there, and Magnus is like 100 times cooler than her. Everything she’s going to do is second anything he says. Magnus is cool and him virtually having 2 votes is ok… but I would like different perspectives in the council.

Seriously, why is she even considered for the council 5 seconds after being ascended to captain without any experience at being one? Aren’t there captains with more experience than her that should be considered for the vacancy? Even Suwash the pirate quaggan has more captain experience than her! And would bring a new perspective to the council instead of more Lionguards, and he’s cooler than her too!

Not much really. If the spot was open to a krytan human or hell even tengu(i think tengu would of been a more interesting pick since if the tengu won could of had more lore revolve around them instead of an explosion).

Exactly, there could’ve been multitude of options (and nice one with the Tengu, if they’re going to be a future playable race they could start taking positions in the interacial organizations).

Even a Quaggan offers more diversity to the council than Kiel, which will be just Magnus loyal sidekick (not that I have anything against Magnus, he’s great). Any ideas Kiel could bring to the council for voting will be already there with Magnus. Evon, you can like him or not, has a different point of view of stuff. Voting for him doesn’t mean he will lead Lion’s Arc, it just mean he’s a member of the council and will be a percentage of the planification and voting.

Even if at the end his ideas aren’t supported by the rest of the council, at least he will bring different perspectives to each matter. Kiel is just a second vote for Magnus, which is ok, but she won’t give new perspectives and ideas. The more points of views you have in an organization, the more chances you have to find faster solutions and better ideas or improve others ideas thanks to different perspectives applied to their ideas.

Well personally I’d like for more master race Asura or a Sylvari as a new member of the council.

Kiel I’d rather see as a gallant Sky Captain, instead of a council member. Well you can technically be both. The hard part is to figure out were in the time line these living events take place. Is it before or after we get to Orr? :/

The council doesn’t need more “perspective”, it needs people that show they’re doing whats best for LA. Kind of like kiel has done on repeated occasions. These people are (mostly) pirates in name and legacy only and are now glorified traders with experience in larceny.

The last thing it needs is some token Tengu/Quaggan on board, even Evon would be better than that since he’s good at racketeering and gerrymandering.

You have gotten what you paid for, all that remains is biweekly gemshop pushing.

Tengu for council… that is actually not a bad idea.

No more non cosmetic world event rewards. We haven’t forgotten the Ancient Karka.

I can be wrong, but I always thought living story is the follow up to personal story and take place after Zaithans fall. It would make more sense to Bash the Dragons, when You know from expirience that they can be defeated, instead taunt some enormous beeing that can potentialy one-smash whole city You are trying to protect. But still – I can be wrong. Ellen doesn’t seem smart enough to me, to make so far-sighted plans to actually take into consideration both planing the event and potential outcry of it.

The council doesn’t need more “perspective”, it needs people that show they’re doing whats best for LA. Kind of like kiel has done on repeated occasions.

Yeah – like we need more uninspiring people, who take credit for our work because they are entitled to it by standing still. Next great NPC can always stay by the door of dungeon to prove theyr support to players and earn some street credit – we see them not rolling, we’re hating.
But I get Your point – what’s best for LA is close enough to Ellen not interfere with big kids doing her job for her. And Ellen following blindly orders of one guy, who want’s to have 2 votes in city council is exacly what players need to learn all about bias. How educational. Good side or bad, righteous or evil – biased character is biased anyway. I do understand Magnus inclination to power, but Ellen stupidity? Above me. Jump on train, don’t ask why Inquest is leading it! Opportunity i sopportunity!

Yeah, sure – thats what In-game description calls LA “the city has become a common ground for all the races of Tyria”. So common that if You are not in Magnus pocket, or You don’t belong in Lionsguard, You are unwelcome dude! Especially if You are Tengu

We don’t know for sure that she’ll do or agree with everything Magnus says/does/commands. She may not even answer to him anymore if she’s on the council.
If there was a Tengu, possibly even a Quaggan, I would definitely have voted for them, over both candidates.

She has the neccesary rank (captain) for the council because of her lionguard membership and Magnus ascending her as reward for her recent success (at least success in making others help her). Magnus is her direct superior on the lionguard and the one that proposed her to the council and convinced her to go for it. If she wins she will basically be his second vote with a human face. I like Magnus, but if we’re chosing council members I would prefer someone that brings unique perspectives rather than giving a second vote to one of the existing members of the council.

All thats true, but we don’t know that she’ll do that. She may totally ignore his request/orders and vote/do whatever her own way, if she feels thats right.

If You are suggest that Inquest could brainwash her… that’s actually good idea!
+1 for that
Great oportunity to achive 2 things – make some good story telling and change boring and weak NPC nature into something more interesting ^^. Good thinking!

Magnus could always do something like striping her rank so she no longer qualifies as captain (unlike other captains, Kiel doesn’t have her own crew, technically if we consider the Lionguard a crew, she would be part of Magnus crew). But probably it won’t be neccesary as Kiel is on the same page than Magnus (probably why Magnus wants her in the council) and likely will just follow him.
