Would like a clarification
Colin just confirmed that it refers to the fight against the five gods.
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
That seals it then. The reactor one will need to have Mursaat, Glint, Canthans, Palawa Joko and Prince Rurik in it if anyone at all is going to vote for it.

Where did he say this?
the above post could be complete and utter nonsense.
Colin just said on the livestream (which just ended a few minutes ago) that the Fall of Abaddon refers to the events taking place before the original Guild Wars game.

It’s a done deal then. I want to see one of the single most amazing moments in the history of Tyria, not some silly Inquest debauchery. I will just have to live with the fact that I’m voting for an RNG peddling crook. :P
Landslide confirmed. Election over before it began.

Better than the third coming of Kormir. Kiel is working hard to replace Trahearne as our token credit stealing NPC ally.
Hmm. As this seems to have changed from what was culled from the .dat file, why do I have a feeling that Abbadon was paired up with Evon due to the RNG argument that keeps getting brought up. You know … as if to get us to vote for Evon and ‘support’ the use of RNG boxes?

Seriously?
Why can’t people understand that as players, we do not want what they’re getting!. If we were the ones that attained godhood, the game would be over. Nothing more to do. If we were the ones that led the Pact, the chara would be so busy leading we’d get to do nothing. If we were the ones that were being pushed for Captain’s Council, we’d be embroiled in internal politics and stuff and not get to have fun.
We don’t want that stuff. We want to play the game. Those charas are made to take those roles as, as a player, those rewards are not rewards at all.

Because that’s how it works.
There are some interesting pinpoints, and then there are some less interesting pinpoints.
It’s the same for Kiel.

That’s how it works, it’s called bandwagoning.
People just ’’complain’’ because they see others do it, so they just follow the trend. It’s similar to Logan Thackeray, people say ‘’running away’’ without even reading the book to see what actually happend, they just see people saying stuff, and they copy it :P

I like Kiel as a character, but it’s too bad the Abaddon fractal sounds way better. Is there anything more the devs can tell us about Kiel’s fractal? Any appearances by something/someone specific? It sounds sub par now. By far.

This is a very good point and can be added to the one that regardless of which character you like/dislike (and they are both pretty bland) what we are actually voting for is which fractal we want. And it seems to be that one of those fractals is about a gazillion times more interesting than the other one.

Yeah. Kinda sad. I am more interested in the Abbadon Fractal, but I really, really don’t want to put forth the idea that I have anything but pure contempt for RNG lottery boxes.

How do you know it is silly? That reactor was once an Asuran city.

That got blown up with chaos magic.
Imagine the possibilities here…
While the fall of Abaddon may be more interesting for the gw1 vets, the new players run around the reactor all the time to kill that fire ele and probably want to know more about that place. Saying one is 1k x more interesting is your personal assessment. Also, reduced WP costs may entice people a lot!
If the fractal turned the 5 party members into the 5 gods and you go on a margonite killing rampage…. That would be epic. Vote Evon!
The Reactor fractal would be interesting, but my oppinion is that … it is already there. Destroyed, but it’s there. Where as the Fall of Abadon was before the original Guild Wars. So the the question is: Do we want to see a already known zone, remodeled, or do we want to see something what we couldn’t see, not even in the original Guild Wars ?

Sounds really really good to me. Especially the “ribbon” around the living story episodes – kinda like a season (since you are comparing it to a TV show).
Looking forward to thursday.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I figured the reduced waypoint costs would be enough to make Kiel win…guess I was wrong.
And for the record, as an NPC main character, she’s MUCH MUCH MUCH better than treebeard. Though I still wish Lord Faren would come back more often. ;-)

I think they were just trying to be coy.
I would like t point out though, that while the Reactor was once an asuran city, the fall of Abbadon was the reason the Crystal Desert was created. In fact, it was once an entire ocean that was under Abbadon’s domain. I have to say, that I can’t really compare a city blowing up because the asura were doing what they were always doing to an all out fight between the gods that resulted in an ocean drying up.
as for me all that promises are meaningless for me of course I’d like to kick abaddons kitten once again, but that would be in factals of the mists as a possibility to get so it’s not worthy for me as a rroleplayer to vote for Evon Gnashblade.
so I’ve taken this voting from roleplaying perspective:
1. That’s a Captains Council, who from the candidates is captain of the ship?
2. Considering personality of the candidates – Kiel is much better for the council than Gnashblade – She cares about the city itself not the money that she would make from being in the council….

Completely agree with your last statement, they aren’t rewards at all. Fractals? Yeah because the entire body of people who spent money on purchasing this game bought it because Fractals were introduced, riiiiight.
And one of the biggest insults I think is the limited time cost elimination to the teleporters. These npc’s aren’t real so keeping the money flowing to a necessary system of travel because you don’t allow mounts and you barely allow sustainable faster running speeds just doesn’t make sense in a game where even with a 40% food buff to coin you still manage to take home pennies in the only dungeon that actually offers some coin.
My friends and I all agree, if they actually put forth a real vote where:
- Side 1: being all for open world permanent DE’s monthly, elimination permanently of the teleport costs, with the elimination of RNG and the implementation of karma vendors for T6 mats.
- Side 2: being all for dungeon/fractal revamps to make them all the hardest they can be, RNG boxes galore, and all future cosmetics being store bought in sets or from RNG boxes forever more.
We’d definitely see the winner in 1 cold second. My friends and I both agree, this vote is rigged and we don’t think they could handle a real vote because it might take out things that they want to keep in there or have to due to some agreement with someone somewhere.
Colin just confirmed that it refers to the fight against the five gods.
That phraseology doesn’t even make sense unless you’re saying we’d be fighting him and his Margonites on the behalf of the other 5 gods. …meaning we’d be fighting alongside the original Orrions??? (Keeping in mind that back then, the Margonites had not yet become Demons and were only “powerful Mages” at that point) …. And that would be a really boring fight UNLESS most of the Margonite Squads operated like Gw1 Paramilitary “Holy Trinity” Squads (with the Gw1 twist that we sometimes had to Focus their Mesmers/Necros who were denying & ’rupting our Monk-Spikers)
(edited by ilr.9675)

And the Champion Bunny from the Asura Fractal.
5 gods versus Abbadon… would those 5 gods be the players? I think it would be awesome to be playing a random of 5 gods, with ofc a special skill set of superpowers and all.

It’s only month-long, not permanent. We need to think in the long term.

2. Considering personality of the candidates – Kiel is much better for the council than Gnashblade – She cares about the city itself not the money that she would make from being in the council….
1. Real captain? Neither. Gnashblade owns a lot of ships, i’m sure (he is the owner of a large trading empire), and likely registered himself as a captain of one of them. Kiel got the ship from one of the council members just so she could qualify but her captaincy is as fake as in Evon’s case.
2. Gnashblade fits very well with the rest of the Council (in fact, since his business methods don’t include burning and looting, i’d say he is an actual improvement). He should be interested in stability and prosperity of the city, because it’s a central hub of his whole trade network. It’s simply good for business.
Kiel may be caring about city, but she doesn’t seem to me a person that can be at the top of a command chain. Even now, she’s nothing more than a puppet in a game that Magnus plays. And i don’t really know anything about Magnus.
