One of the biggest things about the latest patch is that, depending on the candidate who wins the votes, a different dungeon will be installed in the game. Should Gnashblade ascend onto the council, Guild Wars 2 will then be able to witness the Fall of Abaddon. But, if Ellen Kiel makes the cut, the game will bear witness to the mysteries of the Thaumanova Reactor which, unlike Abaddon, is almost completely alien to the lore. ?

“Well, I can say that the reactor was the first prototype of the Inquest attempt to build something. Somewhat similar to what players find in the Crucible of Eternity later in the game. And the location where the Thaumanova Reactor was at one point in time exploded and destroyed what was once a research lab and turned, I would say, turned the world inside out where it occurred. I can’t give away too much more than that. I would say that if people want to know more, they should vote for Ellen and find out. Either way, it’s definitely something that ties more deeply into the lore of Guild Wars 2 than most would realize – "

Thaumanova is just more Inquest and Golems. We already have a fractal with that theme, and we already have a dungeon with that theme. Dragon lore is not guaranteed by any means. No one knows what Thaumanova will reveal exactly.

Abaddon on the other hand is the most important character in the history of Tyria. The list of things he’s responsible for is enormous, and it still affects GW2 today. And you can be sure his Fractal will bring something completely new that we haven’t seen in GW2 yet. Expect a lot of lore.

There is as much possible Dragon lore in Abaddon fractal as it is in Thaumanova one. For all we know, it could be just more inquest and golems.

Abaddon is “completely alien to the lore”? Um… what? Besides, Thaumanova isn’t going to bring new dragon stuff to the table. At most we might get confirmation that the Destroyers were involved because the Inquest wanted to harness their energy, but the dragon itself will remain as it is currently until such a time as ANET is ready to get the dragons directly involved with the players (which won’t be this year).

Why would the prototype of a dragon experiment give us more info than the actual 2nd attempt at the exact same thing? Cause that’s exactly what the Infinity Coil is, and I don’t see anyone gushing about how great the lore in there is. Abaddon will feast on your eyes if you vote for Kiel, be smart and be on the right side when he is finally freed.

We’ll get Dragon lore when we fight each one.

think about it… the only lore delivery we get from fractals (so far) is through player actions. There are no books, no hidden writings, no storyteller npcs or something like this in fractals. We experienced the battle of Ascalon through the eyes of a Charr warband for example, but no one in that fractal was telling us anything about the lore behind it.

So action is the keyword, and I highly doubt that we’ll battle an Elder Dragon in a 15-30min fractal. What we can learn in fractals is about how things looked like. The Abaddon fractal would likely show us the gods / their avatars for the first time. We’ve seen Abaddon in GW1 and he looked awesome, I can’t imagine how he would look with the GW2 engine.

And then… what do we know about Asura? They’re all about golems and maybe elementals (if you look at the Thaumanova event). They even had some sort of golem in their tutorial area as boss. Honestly, I’m tired of golems and non-personality elementals. I can almost see it: an elemental for every dragon-element: a frost-tornado, a crystal tornado, an earth tornado… MEH

THE dragons are kitten i whant GODS!!!!! more epic milion times and gw 1 lore was bilion times beter then this junk we geting in gw 2 if u played gw 1 u shoud know beter and u will never vote kiel NEVER ever …. BTW when we killed the god in Nightfall he was week and in chains he was less then 1% of his true power imagine the battle now vs full power GOD!!!! EPIC

Abaddon is the real lore.

Thaumanova will just be inquest, golems, and portals with weird creatures coming through them with lots of hp that will take forever to kill. Is that what you guys really want? More of the same old same old. A fractal about Abaddon AT LEAST has the potential to be something different….a refreshing change to what we have now.

how much lore potential do Elder Dragons have really? They’re just pure power who want to destroy or corrupt all living, even earth and fire.
