some things to consider

Is the charr killed in the effigy lighting ceremony cutscene not the council member we’re voting to replace? I mean…

That’s just the kind of propaganda Evon Gnashblade is counting on to win him the election. Don’t be a dupe.
Lion Chests give out good stuff. Waypoints are not expensive, even at level 80. Youd be far more likely to save money with the keys than the waypoints.

Lion Chests CAN give out stuff. RARELY. (Like never).
However waypoint cost reduction is something you will use every time you travel around. That can really add up in some savings.

Not everyone buys/wants Black Lion Keys. EVERYONE uses way points. Well, there may be a nut or two who walk everywhere, but almost everyone uses way points. A vote for Kiel is a vote for the people.
WP or Keys shouldn’t be the deciding factor as far as I’m concerned. They are both temporary (4 weeks). If it was permanent I’d vote for the WP reduction, but I’m not going to base a long term decision on a short term gain.
The deciding factor, as far as I’m concerned, is the only permanent piece they’ve mentioned. The Fractal addition. Of the two, I am FAR more interested in the Fall of Abaddon and therefore will be voting for Evon.

He was the charr cultural ambassador. lol Not that you’re the first person to make that mistake. Most ppl seem to be assuming they’re the same guy.
Consider this…
We’re having this election to replace a greedy, self-serving charr. Do you really want to do so with another greedy, self-serving charr? Evon Gnashblade is the kind of guy who wouldn’t give the scraps from his table to a starving man unless he profited from it somehow. Ellen Kiel, on the other hand, risked her career and possibly her life to free enslaved charr and norn from an oppressive and exploitative corporation. She’s always seeking to help others, even if it’s at her own expense.
Now consider this…
Ellen Kiel wants to reduce the way point cost each and every one of us incurs. This means every time you jump from one world boss to another, port to play with your friends, or hop up to Frostgorge Sound or down to Orr to make your daily Ori run she’s putting money in your pocket? Evon Gnashblade? He’s the guy taking money out of your pocket each and every time you sell your hard-earned loot on the Black Lion Trading Company.
This. I see this EVERY time. it is phrased as “Kiel puts money in your pocket, Evon takes it.” Always. Look at the whole thing. Kiel does not, put money in your pocket, she makes it slightly less expensive to wp. And lets face it, we have NO idea how much she will reduce it by (or her method of reduction, which is probably by dealing with hairless asura who just want to get out of their job. Probably the reason we see Thermanova Reactor with her.) She says, “I’ll reduce waypoint costs for four weeks.” No guarantee that it will be any sizable difference.
Evon, on the other hand, is phrased as “taking your hard-earned money.” Hardly the truth if you are willfully buying them even if you know it is RNG. In fact, he does the exact same thing as Kiel, just with different objects. And he says “I’ll slash the price on Black Lion Keys for four weeks.” The word “slash” used in this case indicates a much more dramatic and affecting drop in price. So it could be phrased just as truthfully as “Evon will save you money when it matters, but Kiel offers no guarantee.”
And finally consider this…
The Fall of Abaddon is a chronicled event; we already know what happened. Being there isn’t going to expand our knowledge of the event or change anything at all. And I have it on good authority that the Reactor Meltdown may in fact be cause of the first interdenominational rift that allowed the Steam Creatures to cross into our world. Who doesn’t want to experience that first hand!?
So remember who has your best interest at heart when it comes time to cast your vote. Remember “Kiel for Council”.
The Fall of Abbadon that we are talking about isn’t chronicled. We know there was a big fight between the other five and Abbadon and Abbadon lost, and that it was a huge event that truly changed the face of Tyria. Forever.
An asuran lab experiments went kabloey, maybe because of Inquest sabotage. No surprises nothing new. It may have created a rift in time/space or whatever. If the Arcane Council decides it wants to fund and support additional research into it, that is probably a good idea. But we should all ask ourselves: Why does this concern Lion’s Arch and the Captain’s Council? Is this reactor more important to those of us who fight the Elder Dragons every day than the fall of a god that changed the face of Tyria forever and turned a sea into a desert?
~“An asuran lab experiments went kabloey, maybe because of Inquest sabotage.”
The experiment itself was conducted by the Inquest.
DeShadowWolf – the Thaumanova Reactor fallout is what prompted the Inquest to create the Infinite Coil Reactor (the focus of the Crucible of Eternity dungeon), the primary purpose of which is investigating Dragon corruption – I would say the Thaumanova Reactor Fractal holds the potential to unlock a lot more about the Dragons and presently relevant things than the Abaddon fractal.
Whatever your heart tells you to do: vote Evon no matter what.
Something else for you to consider…
Humans should vote for Kiel not because she’s human, but because she’s not a greedy, self-serving charr. Everyone else should vote for Kiel because she’s demonstrated she cares for members of other races. That’s something Evon’s never done. Plus, Evon’s research into the Fall of Abaddon is pretty much the forcing of religion on the other, non-human races who don’t even worship the human gods. Talk about red flags! Think about that before you cast your vote.

You do realize every player cares bout money and most npcs care bout money so evon being open and honest bout what he likes is a bit more honest and in no way can be used as a legit way to bash him when everyone cares bout money in mmo’s to some degree.
Also the reactor only really involved 1 race MAYBE 2(stretching this since sylvari lands are a bit away from the incident). so honestly failed at that as well. Worth mentioning the human gods do have other races that worship them so really it’s up to the player if they care bout powerful beings who helped shaped the world literally.
If you take the time to re-open Marjory’s journal, you will see Logan Thackeray say he doesn’t trust the Lionguard. In fact, The whole event before the Southsun fiasco was about something being fishy in the Lionsguard. I don’t trust anyone in the Lionsguard, and neither should you guys.
Magnus gave the Pact’s ship that the Aetherblades stole to Kiel insted of returning it to the Pact, too.
I wonder what Trahearne thinks of the fact that his best friend and second in command did nothing to stop it.
Astrid Strongheart, Norn Ranger.

That’s the problem, it’s always about money. That’s what we’re voting for Kiel to change.
The problem with the election lies in how everyone is downplaying the reactor and appraising the fall of abbadon, hilarious said praise is mostly speculation and the downplay being it was a big explosion. There are plenty of routes either could take, and speculating what FoA will be only leads to dissatisfaction, it’ll never live up to whatever hype you give it nor will it deliver whatever standards you set for it. However, in turn, the reactor could have a much better outcome because no one expects anything from it. Make any claims for whichever one you want saying it’ll be uber awesome and will defy the laws of reality by being the the best thing ever, I’m going to vote for the character I believe will be best for the captain’s council, and that isn’t evon.
Consider the following, it’s a pirate election, the lead could sway either way easily through sabotage and subterfuge. I’d get a kick if evon was in the lead, but then kiel took a surprising jump to the front because of something like evon losing a good chunk of votes because they turned out to be doubles or something.
