I’m wondering how many of your are voting based on the character your like rather than the reward you want. Are you voting for one candidate or the other because of their personality or the lore behind them? Or are you voting for them because you’re more interested in the rewards they have to offer?

I don’t buy keys, I played GW1 and done the whole Abbadon mission (too easy) I have used WP’s over the last 9 months losing a nice bit of gold. The reactor well tbh I don’t run fractals… So I vote for the independent party! :P

On a serious note, I am voting for Ellen. The cheaper WP cost appealed to me. I done the Abbadon story back in GW1 I feel a newer story/lore for the reactor would be more interesting if I was to ever run fractals.

I’m voting for Evon because I really want to see the fall of Abaddon.
I don’t cate for the other rewards and I dislike both Evon and Kiel anyway.

Wrong Abbadon story, it’s already been said it’ll be when he’s cast to the realm of torment, not what we did in GW1.

That being said I’m torn between the candidates, I REALLY want to see the gods duke it out, but at the same time I want to see all the conflict Kiel will bring (her campaign is essentially “kitten the Consortium, vote for Kiel.”) not to mention I know NOTHING about the reactor, but I also would prefer keys over WPs, because I’m a gambling man and would love to spin the wheel a few times…

We will see where my vote lies when it comes time to throw my tokens to someone!!

I really can’t decide

I personally like Evon more than Kiel, just because Kiel gives off the typical chick cop vibe to me. Just a personal opinion, she just never grabbed me as a super interesting character.
Evon on the other hand is a devious, snarky cat. I can’t hate that! xD Heck, I own two of those at home…

At the same time I feel like, as a Fractal runner, I should make my decision based on that instead… But I can’t decide which sounds more interesting! Gods duking it out versus another asura-based fractal. Asura are my favorite race, so it’s just… really a difficult decision. xD

In the end I’ll probably just pick Evon. I don’t know. I’m too indecisive.

Ellen is a refresher for the council. They need a chair taken by someone who has a more down to Tyria feel for things. Someone who hasn’t been tainted by the corruption that is money.

I’m actually voting because I want to see good for the future lore of Tyria, not because of some fractal event.

Besides, the fall of a god is not that interesting to me. There’s nothing new about it. Just the same old mythological stuff we read in our history books. meh. It’s time to bend space and time with someone interesting new concepts… such as chaos magic.

It is quite simple really,I hate Charr.

I really really understand the sentiment as I vividly remember the Searing. Accursed beasts ruined my favorite place in Prophecies.

I’m not sure if I want Kiel(the boring upstart) or Gnashblade(the greedy merchant) to win. The discounts are only for 4 weeks so they’re minor bonuses. The fall of Abbadon(1st fall) sounds far more interesting than chernobyl Asura-style The Thaumanova Reactor meltdown, but I dont run fractals.
I suppose what really matters is if Kiel gets elected to the council will she become a minor character we only see on dragon bash and the like(conclude her part in the living story as it were) or will we do more work for her than when she wasnt on the council. We(the players) will likely not be privy to that information until after the election(if ever). Either way we probably wont see that much of Gnashblade since he has been an ultra minor character as far as the living story is concerned.

I’m both a fractal regular and an Asura.

We know what happened to Abaddon (The gods sealed him away for giving magic to the people like a GW prometheus) – but we know nothing at all about what happened at Thaumanova.

And what happened at thaumanova may be important considering the effects it had on reality have parallels to draconic corruption; it may give great insights into what the dragons are and do. Who cares about what the crusty human gods did centuries ago.

“In 1 BE, he spread magic to the races of Tyria, and thus indirectly responsible for the wars that came afterward. King Doric pleaded to the gods and they rendered magic into the five Bloodstones, diluting their gift. Abaddon was incensed and went to war with the others, and he was eventually struck down at the Mouth of Torment, in a blow that turned the Crystal Sea into a desert. There, Abaddon was sealed within the Realm of Torment and the city of Morah was established to watch over the spot where he fell. Shortly after his defeat, the gods left the world in an act that came to be known as the Exodus. " – gw1 wiki

Abaddon was sealed not because he gave magic to humans, but because he waged war on the gods because he was angry about the magic being sealed

personally, I’m voting for Evon because of the fractal – mainly because I’m a huge lore nerd and this is my opportunity to see history first hand (#Animus) but also because i want to challenge Abaddon to a re-match dance off

in Kiel’s campaign quote she states “I’ve stood by the people of Lion’s Arch in good times and bad” ‘stood’ being the operative word :P
plus Kiel is more or less a puppet and is being ordered to do this by Magnus

I really like the GW lore, it’s very interesting and mind you, I am curious about the Fall of abaddon as well, but… even if it is not in detail, the story has been told. Sometimes it is nice to refresh a tale, or to give it more details and all, but I feel I should support new lore contents more than refining existing lore.

That she is a chick and gives discount to waypoints is a bonus :P (dont care for BL keys really)

What if the Inquest found a piece of the Bloodstone that landed in the Magumma Waste and used that to experiment with? They couldn’t control all the locked up, raw, wild magic and it went crazy! Maybe they uncovered something in their research for the Elder Dragons. We know they have been researching the Elder Dragons, project Alpha is proof of this.

I really want to know what happened at the Thaumanova Reactor. Hopefully it is something Lore based and related to the Elder Dragons or something of that nature. Speculation and wild theories are cool but I’m really curious what went on there so I’m voting for Kiel.

I run Fractals so my primary consideration is Fractals. WP costs are something that effects me too but recently I haven’t been doing a lot of world PVE and so really can’t see myself saving more then a few silvers with the temp WP costs reduction. Plus by my calculations, the 4 week WP reduction should come into effect September/October. I am likely to be very busy during that period so probably won’t even be able to play! So the temporary WP costs really isn’t swaying me one way or another. BL keys…. if they are super cheap, I might pick some up but again, not really swaying me.

Only thing that is going to effect my vote is the permanent content: the new fractal and lore, since I care about the lore. That’s why I am voting for Evon! I like his fractal and I think he’s the better candidate for the city of commerce run by ex-pirates.

My brain is shagging under the weight of changes… having six characters was not a good idea!

Guys it’s not like the Charr will use Lions Arch as a litter box, we only did that to Ascalon =P

Sorry, on a serious note Evon is clearly the better choice. He has his own money (kiel will tax the people to pay for her promises). Evon knows about business (Kiel will just strong arm people to get what she wants). Evon can help Lions Arch grow in new ways, look at what he did in a short time with the Black Lion Trading Company. He made them into a global power. Imagine what he could do with Lions Arch? Right now the pirates outside of the north, and south, gates don’t even respect the Lions Guard. Imagine what Evon could do, he could pay for bigger armies, better trained/equipped soldiers, a better navy etc. All without having to tax the people to death. Why? Because he’s good at business, and his new business is making sure Lions Arch is the best city in the world.

The characters, all in all it’s all about the characters and who I think deserves the spot. The reduced cost of things is nice, although an idea of the cost would be lovely. The fractals are too vague and players are speculating and raising their own expectations of them without knowing or seeing any idea of what you’ll be expecting.

For the reactor, it could be that we’re roleplaying as members of the Order of Whispers (similar to the charr invasion) infiltrating the reactor to stop the inquests experiments while at the same time we’re there it’s having a meltdown, or it could be a run through the area of the reactor as it’s exploding (we see the remnants, so I assume it’ll much bigger, also seems to be the predecessor to the crucible of eternity dungeon zone) smacking inquest heads as we go.

For the fall of abbadon we could be acolytes of the gods (giving players control of the gods and new abilities would be distracting, and probably cause dissension if you’re not given your “favorite god”) as they work along side the gods as they take the fight to abbadon and tear down his regime, taking away control of abbadon, similar to controlling temples in orr. It could also be that we’re acolytes of the gods who fight waves of minions before we topple a monument to abbadon.

I’m looking forward to the next update, though personally I was hoping for something more along the lines that the consortium has enough funds to start a massive market of their own, which has the potential of devouring evon’s black lion trading company whole, and players would have to decide which would remain, and the winner would either stay or be entirely replaced with a new ui for the consortium’s new economic regime.

I will vote for Evon for several reasons.
1) Fractal. I see lot of people saying that we don’t know what happened in Thaumanova. Actually knowledge is somewhat similar on both topics. All we know about Fall can be closed in short sentence on wiki. Reactor? Similar lenght note on wiki + ingame blown reactor + spiritual successor in the “person” of CoE (if I got it right). Not that Thaumanova isn’t interesting, but it isn’t that interesting to me. On top of that – chance to see margonites, gods and crystal sea on GW2 graphics in contrast to another Asuran/Inquest stylish floating cube thingies… I don’t say that “turning worlds fabric inside out” can’t be reason to show something amazing, but same goes with gods power and evaporating sea. On paper Abbadon just looks better.
2) Personality of candidate. Evon seems like nasty pice of work, while Ellen proved to be boring to a point I can’t stand her. The only reason that would make me consider to choose Ellen would be a promise to remove choosen candidate from story. Hide her behind sealed door and never ever ever eeeeeevah show her sunlight again. Burry her under bureaucracy papers…
3) Most important – my imagination. What do You think will be the outcome (in story) of our choice? If Kiel wins, what will change? Maybe some struggle with bureaucracy here and there. Cleaning a mess that should be cleaned long ago (pirates roaming right below LA), maybe some organised help to those who need it around world (Lion Guards helping humans to settle truce with centaurs) etc.
What can evon give me? Well… did You played Dishonored? Think about it – greedy, two-faced, but actually complicated character, given a lot of power, ploting and scheming from the heart of bigest democratic city. In a world that is going towards steam-punk, filled with magic and with dragons shadow above head.
That sounds 100 times better to me. Can’t really find anything thrilling for Ellen – can’t say Anet writers will let us down, but she’s sooo… vauge, indistinct, neuter… and I’m generous enough to not throw to writers such a chalange. Writing for Evon sounds a lot more interesting to me.

Ah enough with the inquest alrdy!!! There are inquest on most maps, there is also a dungeon about them. I would like to see something different this time. Even if it was something else other than the gods I would vote for it.
I also agree with Wizzlock that Ellen is boring. She does nothing interesting. So what a month of reduced WP costs? And how much would that be? 50copper to a silver? I doubt that it will be more than that. And after that? The choice we make will be permanent so there will be more content with one of those two characters.
I personally would vote for Evon. I think looking at the bigger picture he is the better choice. He is a bit more interesting, there could be some interesting plots around him, who knows maybe in the future he could reduce the costs of other items or bring back popular ones, even better reduce the listing fees. Wouldn’t that be better?
Fractals wise I think the Fall of Abaddon is again the better choice. We know what happened in both stories (Abaddon got sealed in the Realm of Torment and for the Thaumanova Reactor – it blew up, after some Inquest experiment went wrong) so there isn’t something new in both cases. But again don’t we have enough Inquest already? I would rather see something different. I loved the gw1 lore about Abaddon and the other gods. People that haven’t experienced it, could now get that chance.
In any case a month of lower waypoint costs or lower black lion keys cost shouldn’t be driving people to make their decision.
