I have a feeling DR is being applied to them now, or they were just stealth-nerfed like skelks drop rate in southshore. I am definitely getting less coffers per node and if map chat says anything, so are others.

yeah – cnt confirm, had a friend told me about the update patches before I looked myself. But others are also exp a drop in the drops even myself
I’m at work so I cannot tell. But could it just be that the mobs are taking longer to kill, which is why everyone is seeing less then they normally do?
Haven’t seen any difference today personally.

Yes, drop rate has decreased by a a lot. Which doesn’t help me. I’ve opened over 300 coffers and havn’t received a single thing other than candy and food. No tickets or one of the mini’s that come in the coffer. I’ve also bought 8 rich coffers and got a lot of candy. Talked to many people and they opened like 2-10 normal coffers on the first day and got tickets and mini’s. I feel like i’m at a huge disadvantage. Makes this event really frustrating.
I had the same feeling that the drop rate was reduced, glad I’m not crazy. You know Anet – they hate loot!
What I noticed before the patch and have not seen since is that sometimes 2 would drop off of 1 kill. So maybe that was fixed and that is why there are less now.
They haven’t publicly stated that they have , and there’s nothing in todays patch saying they did , So it would be nice to see if they do confirm either way , I just put it down to DR, as i noticed it then moved to another map and all was good again.
Zero difference for me after 2 hours of farming today. It’s just RNG folks.

Who says they reduced the drop rates? Anet haven’t said anything, Just people assuming they have because of DR.
I have not noticed any reduction other then the normal DR from hanging around the same area.
I haven’t noticed any changes in drop rates. In fact, I have sometimes been getting as many as two dragon coffers off of one hologram mob, which is better than what I was getting yesterday. Have you tried farming in higher level zones? That’s what I’ve been doing.
We can thank Otokomae.9356 for his awesome post about his request to increase the health of holo’s. As this is the official forum I really want to stay polite, but believe me, deep inside my heart I wish him a lot of things.
After a few hours of farming, I can say pretty confidently that the drop rate FEELS like it has been reduced. The amount of coffers that i got compared to last night definitely support that feeling.
Like after each and every patch, someone “detected” a stealth nerf on X’s drop. Nothing to see here, people. By the magic of RNG, even if they are right (and more often than not they aren’t) nobody but ANet will be able to confirm.
After a few hours of farming, I can say pretty confidently that the drop rate FEELS like it has been reduced. The amount of coffers that i got compared to last night definitely support that feeling.
There is an extra 3 seconds minimum per projector for kills. Coupled with the health increase the reduction in the amount of coffers is expected without any change to drop rates. This is especially true if you are farming them, all those seconds will add up.

There has been no decrease in the rate at which coffers drop from holo’s or in the world.
just my perception, but since launch, every 2 hours netted me 250 coffers. i know, i timed it and sold them when i hit a full stack. since the patch, i’ve gotten 150-170 per 2 hours. the kill speed is the same as i had overkill aoe(they died within 3 seconds pre and post patch) so the only difference is the added 3 seconds for invuln, which shouldn’t offset my hourly rate. i’ve stayed in the same zones every time, so that’s not a variable. gear hasn’t changed.
i often go 2-3 nodes with only taffy dropping and usually it’s 1 coffer per node. i used to get 2-6 per node pre patch.
call me crazy but over 2k coffers sold…i can feel a difference

How on earth are you getting 100+ coffers per hour? I’ve been running around starter zones for completions, killing everything I see along the way, and I’m getting 20-25 an hour at best
My rates are about half what they were the first day as well. This wouldn’t be the first time a dev has told us drop rates on something haven’t changed, only to find out later that some “bug” did in fact change the drop rates.
are you running to each node? i only use wp’s. now that profitability has been sliced, i’ll most likely farm them only to open instead of selling

If the droprate isnt reduced, then its subject to heavy RNG.
Going through 4 nodes in a row and get exactly 4 candies from each… Great fun! I dont care what the droprate percentages for the chests are, I want to know what the chance for THAT is? Because if the drop rate of chests is high from holos, then my RNG is the best ever. It should be impossible to go through multiple nodes without getting a single chest or loot, just 1 candy per mob. But against the odds I can do it.
Sidenote: I forgot to mention that this was also with 160% MF gear.

Yea, except that this “heavy RNG” just started mysteriously after the patch. A lot of us farmed for hours during the two days before the changes, and there is definitely a difference in coffer drop rates. It was very consistent before the patch. But hey, they said the same thing when they nerfed skelks into the ground and suddenly the T6 was barely dropping from them. No big surprise here.

You’re right they stealthed increased it! I got 11 ectos from 5 rares last night.

the extra amount of health and seemingly ninja buff on the attack power those mobs got from the patch has relatively reduced my farming efficiency, which, make me feel the coffer drop rate has been nerfed.
Though there might be no official action on the drop rate, the fact that minions are harder to kill can be considered as some kind of nerf on coffer drop.

Even going as fast as we could me and one other made around 250 coffers each after about 4 hours, and this was in zones with only 1 or 2 other people in them doing the same, and we had little or no need to wait for a node to respawn. 250 in 2 hours… I dont think so, for starters the maximum number of coffers ive ever gotten from a node (ie the 4 holograms) was 4, 1 from each hologram npc, most ive ever got at one time is 5 and that is with a drop from some other stray npc that gets hit by the aoes and getting lucky and having each holo drop a coffer themselves.
That being said, getting 3-4 coffers per node feels alot rarer from my own personal experience tonight, sure it was uncommon before, but does feel like its not as often, i am seeing quite a few more single coffers only compared to pre change. Although oddly for me Ive had alot fewer ‘nothing but candy’ streeks.
Its pretty much up to oens own personal perception, and im sure none of us are really right about it.

Drop rate was the same for me if not better. The holo change actually helped since now you can move from one to another and still get there in time to tag them. Plus you are not waiting a long time for a node to spawn because they were killed off to fast and waiting for the next respawn.
For me it’s the same as Ping,
I’m getting the same as I usually have. It just feels slower/nerfed thanks to the invulnerability they have now.

I had spent yesterday morning farming normal event mobs for coffers. Doing the same event, I wound up getting less and less loot and coffers – a clear sign of diminishing returns.
Update pops making a few changes to the holos. I go back to farming the holos, and also seemingly notice fewer drops of coffers…
Then I realized, I was probably still experiencing DR. I suspect many people may have experienced the same thing as me, explaining the reports of a decrease in chance. Just my theory!

i think so. my mule farmed 97 in an hour, 97×2 = 194, a clear reduction in drops from my 250, which was a conservative estimate in 2 hours for my farming method. my numbers improved since i was farming alone this morning, but the reduction in drops is not commensurate with the buffed holos(non factor). if my OP came across as whiny, that wasn’t the intent. it was to show the reduction in coffer acquisition from holos since yesterday’s patch in comparison to dragon bash’s launch.

I didn’t even know the holos dropped chest, I haven’t gotten one since day one. So, seems the same to me.
But my drop rate from mobs was about 25 for two wave events, and that hasn’t changed.

I thought I’d read somewhere that the holos were supposed to have an increased chance of dropping the coffers than other mobs. I’ve done 3 nodes today and I got 12 candies and 4 coffers – 2 of those coffers came from things other than the holos.
Something seems off. On the first day, I was getting a coffer from almost every holo.
I was completing kessex hills and metrica province yesterday. The entire time, I was getting coffers more frequently from regular mobs than the holograms.
Wow, if you expect me to believe you didn’t change the drop rate on coffers, then you clearly have zero respect for the people that are keeping your game alive.
It’s blatently obvious that you decreased the drop rate. I have farmed everyday for an hour at a time several times per day. Before you changed it, I was getting 50 per hour. After the ninja decrease, I am getting 15 an hour.
I use to think Arena Net was different from all the other shady developers. Not only do you implement these atrocious crates and coffers that have an obsurd drop rate of weapon tickets, you flat out lie right to your customers about changes that are not in patch notes.
I just came back to play roughly 2 weeks ago, and I am so quickly getting a sour attitude towards this game and the folks driving it that I highly doubt I will be playing for long. I do know for sure, is you will NOT be getting anymore money from me for RNG boxes.

DR is harsh on the holograms. You can barely get your Sigil of Luck stacks up to 25 before getting only taffy from them.

I think it’s more than that, but you are right on the effect of the mob buffs on efficiency.
A really good developer would increase the drop rate to compensate for the much longer kill time. A not so great one wouldn’t even think of it. A horrible one would think of it, but not do it to spite the players.
I have noticed a massive drop with random mobs …. mainly because I got tired of the comp holo-killing.
I use to be able to go down a line of just killing random mobs and most all would drop a coffer. Then the patch and suddenly that all changed.
Noticed with the holos to, when I was finishing up that “Kill 300 holos” TASK It wasn’t uncommon to simply not get a coffer from any and only 1 candy from each.
