So everything points to effigies being lit in a instance (maybe like the Halloween one?)
But Anet’s news post speaks about the 18th, and then starting the next step on the story, does this mean we only have the 18th to light all the effigies for the achievement?

Sure sounds like it. 50 to light in one day (one night for working folk) sounds… painful. Good luck to the brave achievement hunters wading through the lag (if open world) or grind (if instance).

Straight from the release page:

“Join the Captain’s Council and other dignitaries as they light dragon effigies in the Grand Piazza of Lion’s Arch starting June 18.”

Note they say “starting” so hopefully they’ll allow everyone to join in for the rest of the month. If not, well…. I have tomorrow off anyways.

Am I the only one who thinks this “Dragon Effigy” will be the first instance for the storyline?

i’m still guessing we don’t have any details regarding this yet?

i was wondering how the story will work out in LA.. or instancing? or would it be Karka invasion style? surely hope not the latter.. but instances in LA seems.. out of place as well.

What I’d like to know is:

1) What time (not date) is the Effigy lighting meant to kick off? My friends and I live in Australia and work so…are we going to be able to join in?

2) How long is the next batch of content going to be available for?

I would have thought that these details would have been posted by now but I can’t seem to find this info anywhere…I hoping that, as someone pointed out, the use of the word “starting” means that this content will be available for at least a few days.

Still nothing on the official Twitter feed. Nothing on Facebook either. I now have friends sitting online just to see if anything happens. I suppose I’ll just have to get up at 3 or 4am before work to check.

It is however quite clear on the official page that it will NOT be 18th only, since is quite clearly says BEGINS, not takes place, not available only.

I really hope its not for today only. I’ve been off work for a week and have completed everything dragon bash related including getting a couple jade weapon tickets, farming a set of dragon wings, getting my helms at the fireworks, and all possible achievements so far. However, there had to be one day I had to go in to work during my 2 week vacation and its today… Won’t be home till 11pm and I don’t see the patch being live before I gotta go in.

It will not be a one day only “get it on the 18th or not at all” event. The only one time event they have had was clearly advertised as such well in advance and went so poorly there is absolutely no way that they would do it again AND not warn people about it.

I imagine it will be much like the Cragstead and Hatchery instances from Flame and Frost, although whether it will be repeatable or not is unknown.

Lets hope so… And there were a couple one time only events (thinking the rise of the mad king on halloween, and most of the karka things, including the series of events leading to killing the ancient karka.

But truthfully, i wouldn’t be too surprised if this was one-time only and was being poorly announced, since this event has been full of holes. (Connection issues, people getting achievements before due time, the lack of synchronicity and/or a in-game timer of the fireworks thing, etc.)

You do know that every single one-time event have been clearly marked as such, right?
Heck even the weekend fireworks were clearly marked with dates.

True, I had forgotten about the Mad King, but that was only a cinematic, not connected to anything a player had to do for achievement or reward. And I see the whole Lost Shores event as one-time-only, although yes it had different parts that made up the event – however each individual stage of that event and its timings were well advertised in advance.

No, it just begins on the 18th. As in, it’s not available before the 18th.

They’re waiting until the 18th to add them because the in-game Effigy Lighting Ceremony doesn’t begin until the 18th (today), so they aren’t available until then. the fireworks are the only limited time content as far as I am aware of, and is marked as such.
