Guild Wars 2

I was fortunate to have one of these drop during a chain event sequence. I’ve watched the price slowly decline from 17g to 13g. I realize people can get these if they aquire 100,000 of the Zhaitaffy, but I have to think after the Dragon Bash event the new availability stops and then the prices start to increase again.

Thoughts?

I doubt anyone has gotten them by trading in taffy, they’ve probably all come from drops. And the price has dropped a lot more than that, it was about 60g the first few hours of the event, but dropped rapidly as people realised how common they are.

It probably will rise after the event but with so many around, and some people probably hording them to sell later, it will be a while before they’re worth much.

I wonder if the price will go up really though, i know a lot of people that like the shatterer wings better, and those are piece of cake to get, i feel like the demand will drop once everyone starts snagging the shatterer wings and price on the holo wings wont go up (if it ever does) for a very long time. I know me personally don’t like the style of the holo wings and much prefer the shatterer wings for my toon. Just a guess….but also i could be dead wrong too lol

I highly doubt the prices will ever go up.
These wings will probably only be cool during the event. The moment the next fancy back piece comes, noone is going to care about holographic wings.
Plus, in the coming days “literally” everyone will get holographic dragon wings. They’re not the same wings but very similar. I think the demand will be very low after this.

I sold my holo wings early on when they were about 20g so I could afford the mini moa. I’ve been hoping to get another drop, and thinking about buying them if I don’t but today I started thinking about which character I’d give them to and realised that even with 5 characters I don’t really want 2 sets of wings. They’re nice but I’d rather get a different back item for the variety.

Cornel, well I can already tell how bad you are with economics. The price will raise, maybe not quickly, but if you sell them in the fall or winter I am sure you can get a good price for them. You see, a lot of people are running around with wings now and so a lot of other people are like “meh, everyone has em”. Down the road when most have switches back slot effects, wings won’t be so prominent and more people will attempt to aquire them for a unique look. Also new armor skins may be released that make the wings look better.

Btw, I’ve had 2 wings drop, none gotten from candy. You would need to spend an incredible amount of time farming holo mobs just for one. I spent quite a bit of time just to get the holo and candy achievements, no where near enough for buying a set of wings.

It’s kind of unfortunate how common they are. I did not expect them to be so common and wasted a lot of money buying it so early, but oh well.

OP, I doubt these will rise that much due to the shatterer wings being handed out in the next few days. Everyone who wanted the wings already bought them, and people on the fence will most likely be getting the freebie ones. Buy a couple if you want but don’t expect any profit for a long long time.

I thought the same once. But look what happened to the super-skins from the adventure box. Or the winter holiday skins.
The only skins that have ever really gone up in price since their release are the Halloween ones, which were super-exclusive. Everything else (correct me if I’m wrong) hasn’t had a major increase in value (not even the Kasmeer mini, which everyone predicted would go through the roof due to every gamer being a nerdy little pervert. But look at what price it ranges now, after a brief price spike caused by artificial undersuply.)
So unless you want to cash in on your items when Guild Wars 3 comes out, I wouldn’t advise on keeping those skins.

In a few days the vast majority of active players will have these wings. Having just one set will be enough for most players except for a small amount who will hold on to multiples in hopes that the price rises. Alot of the previous event items have fallen by a wide margin and their is no reason this one will be any different. At the very best the price will stabilize around where it currently is, but it wont go up.

thanks for the comments. I think I’ll hold onto the skin to see what happens. I doubt they’ll ever reach the early pricing, but I have to believe that the availability will drop and since they are different from the other wings that as supply dwindles the price will slowly increase.
