Well, Anet is giving some attention to what GW2 was actually all about: Dragons. After months of fun but somewhat spin-off storylines, will we finally get new Elder Dragon related content (and then I mean actual Dragons, not pinatas)?

It is very unlikely that they would reveal anything like that on the forums like this before the actual event.

IF it somehow ties into the Elder Dragon story (which is quite possible) they would want us to experience it in-game not on the forums.

Probably soon. I doubt they will start a whole new living story arc after all the complaints they received. Personally, I like the Living Story, but I would be much more excited for a good, lengthy expansion. DB will probably come and go, my bet is after that we may see SAB P2 and then a hint at a possible expansion.

I think the living story will eventually lead to dragons. Though with the community begging for an expansion that you have to pay for, I’d see them saving the dragons for expansions.

It’s be great if the living story somehow turns in the direction of a new Dragon menace. In fact the end of the DB trailer is very interesting.

Listening to the final phrases of Angel McCoy in the story of Southsun and Ellen Kiel’s head security role over Dragon Bash, it sounds very much like this festival will be hit by something not so festive… any celestial, elder dragons we’re aware of that could resurface right about now?

It would be pretty epic to have an elder dragon, or an army of it’s minions/one of it’s generals, come and crash the bash! As long as it didn’t end up as much of a lagfest as Lost Shores’ karka attacks. :P

i don’t know if anyone knows, but anet did mention they are already considering an expansion. their main concern is to figure out when it should be released though, before putting any work into it.

Unless that is relatively new news, as of May 14th, there are no current plans for an expansion. There will be one at some point, but as of right now; they are fully committed to expanding gw2 through Living Stories.

Actually what they have said is that they are currently NOT working on an expansion. NCSoft on the other hand have said that they are planning an expansion (but then again NCSoft have been saying that since release.)

The new ’Destiny’s Edge’ will become the ‘Heroes/Henchmen’ of GW2.

New Elder Dragons will be introduced with the Elona and Cantha expansions.

More comic relief, drinking, dancing and general Nornbear buffoonery, as well as a very old friend, will be found in the Far Shiverpeaks.

The gods will return and we will be forced to pact with the Underworld to save ourselves. Stupid twists.

Destiny’s Edge as henchmen would actually be pretty great! They would need to increase the party size though.

I’ll be genuinely surprised if the big holographic dragon doesn’t get replaced by a real one toward the end of the event.

My vote?
Instead of one of the remaining dragons showing up, at the finale, a giant hole in reality gets ripped open and suddenly an eye opens from through the rift… An eye as big as Zhaitan… The eye of the ACTUAL Zhaitan.

Turn the guy we fought into a usurper that somehow took Zhaitan’s mantle and kept him sealed away. Then use the living story to basically ‘redo’ the Zhaitan struggle. Make the Risen the mindless, unending zombie horde they should have been, show the battles to a scale that makes them seem real and credible (so none of that, “My Gods! There’s so many!” [5 guys run at you] stuff), and end it with him still around and the races barely managing to find a means to hang on. That way the dragons can become the supreme, maddening threat they sounded like prior to release.

Then carry that momentum into the first expansion and feature more heavily the other dragons there.

Basically, use the living story to try and address some of the failings of the original story rather than just focusing on random chunks of additional stuff. Make the game world feel like what the material outside the game seems to indicate it should feel like.

But eh. Won’t happen. :-(

the dragon based festival is because of the dragon festival from gw1, since dragons are the bad guys, a festival for them doesn’t fit… on the main site it says this:

“Once revered, dragons are now generally viewed as destruction and death incarnate. The Captain’s Council has realized that the old Dragon Festival is no longer appropriate, so Dragon Bash is about unifying Tyria to destroy the Elder Dragons.”
