Lower the bet in Moa Racing to 10 silver. Everyone can afford that and it will be a much better gold sink with more players betting.

Also add one more NPC bookie. And have the bookies standing on something. So they appear taller then most players.

Why? With it at 50s less players will be playing it in a few weeks. Isn’t the pot based on how the other players bet?

10s will give more players a chance to play without risking to much silver. And provide a stable group of players gambling.

10s will give more players a chance to play without risking to much silver. And provide a stable group of players gambling.

Its a set reward. 1st place gives 7 tokens, 2nd is 3 tokens and 3rd is 1 token. The 7 token bag gives 1g40s, the 3 token bag gives 60s and the 1 token bag gives 20s. So its 20s per token no matter how many players bet.

It’s not going to be a good gold sink when only one player is betting.

Its like all gambling. Overall you are most likely to lose money. But there is the potential to make a profit. Plus you dont have to redeem your tokens for the gold, you can save them for the mini pet.

They can’t really change it now without upsetting people, since doing so would lessen the value of existing vouchers and the price of the moa.

They could still reduce the price however by providing different options. For example, a 20s bet could get you 3 vouchers for 1st place and 1 for 2nd or a_ 5s bet could get you 1 for 1st place. This would have been better if it was done from the begging however, where if the bet was 10 instead of 50, a 50s bet would now get you 5x the winnings.

The most unfortunate thing is that there are achievements tied to this gold sink of which you have an 80% percent chance of never actually getting.

The house edge is 12%, which is kinda crappy compared to many real casino bets, but it is not ridiculous. It is comparable to making a hop bet in craps.

The 50s bid is for one reason and one reason only, they’re removing excess cash from players pockets which will help maintain the AH economy, this is just Anet flexing its muscles in an attempt to keep the inflations of items down…. if we don’t have the money to spend, the value of goods will stay low.

I’m not overly happy with the cost, but when you consider the generous rate at which Dragon Coffers are dropping and that they are being sold at about 4s (last night anyway)… a couple of hours farming mobs will get you enough Dragon Coffers to pay for the Moa achievement. Farming for the mini would obviously take some dedication.

Is it still considered a ‘sink’ if the same event provides you with the means to offset the cost? Maybe… and who knows where the market on the Coffers will go… but for now the argument that penniless players can’t afford to play doesn’t seem valid when you can spend a minimal amount of time to earn that money through the same event.

Its still a gold sink because the coffers are being bought and sold with player money. Whereas when betting on moa’s that money is being removed from the market.

That would make a lot of people angry, even if they could start over from scratch with cheaper bets.

Just change the bets. Most players can only make a few bets before it’s too expensive. Reducing the bet will allow players to hang out there longer to have fun.

*This is race track that makes money for LA. So make it look nicer.
*Add a bank and tp. Incase a player wants to risk it all.
*Outdoor bar area. So you can drink your loses away.

Im not too bothered about the bet price but I can see how its a problem for some people. Hell, I dont have much money but if i feel like gambling, I know how to make it back relatively fast.

When did a gold sink ever makes you more gold? O.o?

I rather sink my gold porting all over the place for the holo-creatures than sink it on crazy moas. But there are people in my server who enjoyed it.

If you’re only willing to pay 10s, then have a group of 5 people giving 10s each and have one of you to be a “broker” who place the bet and split the winnings.

Be more friendly…jeeze.

I agree that it would be nice if the bet could be less, but the game isn’t entirely random. Once people start to understand the pattern it will become the opposite of a gold sink.
