ArenaNet, would you be willing post the metrics of the money removed from the economy with this “event”?

I’ve been trying to get the achievement and so far it’s cost me 10g and I’m not even done yet.

It’s a wonderful sink! I don’t have enough gold to let it average out, so I stopped after I lost 3g. I only placed in the top 3 20% of the time, but odds say you should place in the top 3 60% of the time.

I think I spent about 3g for the achievement. I didn’t win at all the first 3 or 4 times. Then I won three in a row.

30g for the mini though. Voting for the same moa the entire time. Average seems to be around 28 – 30 + give or take “luck.”

Its very annoying though because it seems the moas generally get a time frame where that particular one is going to lose constantly for like 4 or 5 turns then as soon as you get fed up they become 1st place winner or start placing in the top three.

NEVER bet on Motti.

Don’t listen to MagiKarp! Motti, Monna and Mork are the true moneymakers! Meep is a sham of a racer who has brought nothing but disappointment to me, and shame to his family. :P

It took me 30g or 60 tries to get 126 tickets. All betting on motti.

Motti netted me about 2g in profit by the time I got the achievement.

Yeah, I ended up with a 1g net profit by the time I got the achievement. I would have considered myself lucky just to break even, so I decided to quit while I was ahead. XD

It’s totally random. This means for some people it will be hard and costly, other it will be easy and profitable. You also don’t NEED to do this for the final reward chest. You’ll have enough if you just do the others. It’s 100% optional. If you choose to do this one, then don’t get upset if you have bad luck with the moas.

It cost me ~25g to get the achievement. It took around 3 hours and I ended up with 54 vouchers, so I lost 15g total. I didn’t even see a 1st until about 1.5 hours in and got the last 2 within 30 minutes of each other.

It was very boring and if I wasn’t multitasking/reading the forums during it, I probably would have made a bot to automatically place bets.

I really wish I could bet on all 5 at once. Sure it would cost more but at least i’d be done much faster and at a fixed cost.

I got pretty lucky and steered clear of Meep the Dreadful. I ended up making about a 2.5 gold profit and got the achievement

I think it is better to choose 1 and stick to it.

Took me 4G to get my 3 wins, and the last win I actually got third place, but still got the achievement. Who did I bet on? Motti and Morti only. Why? Wynaut? They are the absolute best.

While not representative of most experiences, I grinded out the mini and actually made a few gold doing so.

I’m pretty sure (at least checked when I got it) that the Moa Racing wins don’t even count towards the meta achievement so you do it for the sake of doing it.

Eh. There is one where you need to get 3 1st in the moa race.

There is a cow race in a level 15-30 char zone ?? Near where the cowapult is. That was my favourite.

Step 1, talk to fellow char.
Step 2, bid some money (me, being in a low level area thought it was 30 copper, it was 30silver my entire fortune on that toon).
Step 3, realise that I had just spent all of my money in 1 hit.
Step 4, Unprofit
Step 5 … had to make more money to buy the lvl 10 trait book

Does anyone know which (if any) of the storyline achieves count towards the meta-achievement?

It’s not even new. Remember the cow launching bets? It’s exactly the same thing. Just a random roll.
