(New to GW2) Is DB a yearly event?
Sky pirates will most likely not return, Dragon Bash, however, may.
Dragon Bash is a festival that will return.
Sky pirates should continue with new living story arcs in the future. Because steampunk sky pirates theme is to cool of a idea to abandon.
Ok. That means tomorrow I’m going to be stressing out on getting Sky Pirate achievements before they disappear!!
This is the first Dragon Bash. GW2 is not quite a year old yet.
So in a sense, we’re all “new” to it this year.
Typically festival events in the GW series are annual, though, so I would expect Dragon Bash to return next year. If you have limited time and have to choose, you’re better off focusing on completing Sky Pirates, as it’s definitely a one-off.
However, Sky Pirates will most likely return with the Living Story (different achievements, most likely) because we still don’t know who the person Mai references, Scarlet, is.
Same with Molten Alliance, we only met their champions, not their leaders.
Dragon Bash will probably return, though many things will likely be unique to this year. Certainly I would expect a completely new set of achievements next year. And obviously the story element (this particular murder mystery) won’t return.
To be honest, considering the time you have left, the Dragon Bash achievements will be a lot easier to get. And the Shattered Wings are (to most people) a better reward.
Sky Pirates will not return. I’m sure we’ll see more of the Aetherblades, and that their story will continue, but this living story chapter will not be back.
While I don’t know what Anet plans, I’d hope that at least these living stories can be accessed again at a later time (say, next year allow a “visit to the past”). Nice for people who for whatever reason couldn’t do it at the time. From ANet’s perspective, it’s of course an easy way to “add content” without needing much extra work.
