To Those Complaining About Effigies...
This is what reasonable people do. But some people rush to complete the achievement as fast as humanly possible, pay the cost for it with waypoints, and then some complain about wp costs. There’s not really any way we can help them if they’re set on doing that
I’m just really lazy so I opted to WP to every one except the ones that were close together. It only ended up costing about 25s to get all 50. I did something to minimize the time and money a little tough. Instead of waypointing to all 30 then switching characters and waypointing to 20 more, I WP to one and light it, guest to different server light it again, WP to next one (or run if it’s close) and light it, switch back to my server and light it again, etc. This way I only ended up waypointing about 15-20 times for only about 25s. And you get 1g from the story instance that takes like 5 mins. Not sure that way is for everyone, but it works for the lazy.
I must have waypointed about 3 times for the entire 50. Mostly I switched servers. Now, it’s not something I had to do, but I generally like things done asap, so that was my way of doing it.

Actually, after the first 30, I was tired of farming/grinding. And let me insert MY snide comment that sensible people can only do tedious for so long before they just want to get thru it as fast as possible.
Here’s your chance to toss in the, “well no one is making you do it,” crack.
I still have a couple alts that are lower levels (30-40). Since waypoint costs are less for lower level characters I just used those ones to pop around to the effigies.
(I still wish there wasn’t a waypoint fee at all however.)
I had a great time running for them. It got me back into parts of the world I haven’t played much lately, and apparently a lot of other people as well. Did several events I haven’t done in a while and had plenty of people alongside who were doing the same. It was great fun, and was the closest I’ve seen to truly enjoyable random group events throughout the world since just after launch.
I like that they have spread these out. It encourages players to revisit zones they fully explored or give an incentive for others to start exploring new ones. For those that need to have it right away, they placed each effigy very close to waypoints. For me, I noticed a lot more people in the zones doing events and helping lower level players. I could have just beelined it to each effigy, but I spent around two hours stopping at each meta event chain to help out and only got to 10 effigies.
50 of 30, didn’t WoW’s boring click the fires only make you do it once?
At least we didn’t have to fight others for spawns.
