correct me if i’m wrong but the general mood of most players is that all the “new” content given so far by Anet/Guildwars has been exactly the same with a slightly different skin and minor variations on what you have to do.

New content is great, but when the feel and style ultimately never changes after playing once or twice it becomes just as boring as the last event – I’d rather wait longer and get something more worth while.

Which brings me to my final point… these coffers, rich or standard they are becoming old.

PRO:-
Dragon Coffer mob drops often, chance of ticket + general zhaitaffy and other goodies.

CONS:-
Rich Dragon Coffer, if i’m spending real money or even gold that has taken me a long time to accumulate I don’t want an increased chance to optain my ticket, I want my item.

Chance to optain is blind luck and results in the lucky and rich being the only to obtain these unique weapon skins which from my point of view sadly stinks.

Why can’t tickets simply go on sale?

I have to admit I am not “the community”, neither do I know what it think as a whole. Please, have the courtesy to do the same, and do not speak for me. You have all the right in the world to your opinion, and none at all on mine. I enjoyed the living story up to now, and I know of a lot of other people that do.
So “the general mood of most people” is the mood of “some people” in unknown quantity.

That being said, I agree on the particular point of tickets: RNG for free access is ok, but for paid access I wouldn’t mourn if it was to go away.

1. Content although diffrent and “enjoyable” as stated by yourself has however been very simular from one event to the other?

2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”

There are a lot of threads on the fact that “everyone” hates the RNG boxes and they shouldn’t be encouraging us to spend real money for a chance at an item.

Unfortunately “everyone’s” opinion is cancelled out by people spending hundreds of dollars buying these things every time they’re offered. Which gives Anet some pretty clear numbers saying they are popular, or at least that people are willing to buy them in large enough numbers to make them worth selling.

As long as that keeps happening they’ll keep making them.

He didn’t say he’s not part of the community, he said he’s not the entire community and therefore can’t speak for all of us as you claimed you were doing in your first post.

Personally I do like the new events, I enjoy playing the new content even if it’s not reinventing the wheel every month. I don’t like the RNG boxes, but I just don’t buy them and then it’s not a problem. Everything else I’m happy with.

No the players response was not rude… what was rude was you assuming that you speak for everyone.
I may not agree with all the game directions and decisions, the content for so far has been mostly enjoyable.
Sure a nice big wedge of different content goes down a treat we all know that.. but go check out other MMO forums and come back and tell us all how “everyone” on those boards are fed up and so against the long drawn out wait for new content.
ANET has taken a decision to given us something new each month and so far have stuck to their word.. you and I and anyone else have no idea what is being worked on behind this… but hey that’s irrelevant, cos I would imagine if they suddenly changed their stance and informed us that now we will have to wait 3-6 months for new content you would likely be one of the first to voice your disapproval

So bottom line, please refrain from speaking for me, I consider that to be rude!

Do you run your own business… there are so many more things to worry about than a few forum whiners saying that everyone is against you… I mean lets be real here, the forums likely account for <1% of the playing community.
If such content roll outs were not worth it I am sure ANET/NCSoft would change track in order to maintain a healthy business margin.

You forget MMO’s are a business not a charitable event, F2P requires carrots in order to generate its income. I see nothing different in GW2 that any other game within a similar business model puts out. At then end of the day only you can make the decision to spend cash/gold on the TP stuff or spend the time playing out the content if you dislike it that much.

Question .. would you prefer ANET offer you a subscription model instead… because even MMO’s still offering that option still embed the same lures and content decisions within them… why? because like any other business, big or small – the bottom line is to show a profit.

Most players on the forums, perhaps. The thing about game forums like this is that people generally log on when something is wrong, rather than with something is right. Everyone that I normally play with and myself have been having a blast with everything in this event. Dragonball’s a bit glitchy, but that’s about it that I’ve seen.

CONS:-

You knew that going into it, ANet never tried to lie or make people believe that the coffers were anything but RNG. I agree that the % should be significantly higher for the cash shop coffers now that we have the alternative regular coffers, but none of that will probably change until people stop supporting the low % RNG methods with hundreds on hundreds of dollars. This event was a real opportunity for people to make their statements known and hold their position by not buying the cash shop coffers, since the drop rate in the regular ones is so close to the rate of the cash shop coffers.

Hoopa doopa.

I’m actually really enjoying the events so far. Granted I was smart enough to stay away from the gem boxes from the start. I think this event has struck a pretty good balance between spending gems for RNG and being able to obtain the skins through the game as well.

I agree that the gem store boxes are dumb, but until people stop buying them they are here to stay. It is just very difficult to put an item in the gem store and also keep it rare so that people want it.

your paying for a ‘’living world’’ MMO and so far it feels a much more ’’living’’ MMO than all the previous ones i have played.

of course your not alone with your stance however i think GW2 and ANET so far is doing a kitten ed good job of what it was ’’said’’ to include.

now i hate to be the one to say this in this thread but ’’challenging’’ games have not been around for a while, the real challenges now come from player vs player action until some company weather its ANET, Blizzard or a brand new company doesnt matter.

note: my player vs player goes for all versions of it in most games, not just gw2.

You aren’t speaking for “most” players. The only ones that are complaining do so here and occasionally in map chat. There was 1 person complaining in map chat last night, and the others replying to him were telling him how ridiculous he was being. It just so happens those that have complaints feel the need to be the loudest, but they do not make up “most” of the player base. Plenty of people are enjoying the event, because they are actually playing the game instead of whining about the dead horse that is RNG.

The new content of late is interesting but strikes me as more of a gimmick. I participate because of the new skins. I’m an altoholic so its nice to have something to give to my different toons BUT there is little to no depth to it at all

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

This has actually come pretty full circle now.

First of all the events have been pretty drastically different. Yes you can pick out the similarities (pumpkins == pinatas == snowmen, spirit doors == holograms), but at the same time its not fair to ignore the differences. Halloween had the scavenger hunt, Mad kings realm, Tower and boss fight. Wintersday had the Floating toy factory, Choir game, Wonderland JP. Super Adventure Box was just bat kitten nuts. Flame and Frost had a temporary dungeon. Snowball fights were nothing like Dragonball. The list can go on and on and on.

Even the way they dispensed their special skins has been different. Drops, titles, cash shop direct, temporary reskins, rng boxes, crafting.

What I personally have “had enough of” is players trying to tear down events with posts like this. The RNG boxes aren’t going anywhere. Look at the number of posts about it. They echo every event. Anet has never responded to them. Do you think they just haven’t noticed? Of course they have. But people are still buying them in troves apparently. So make a statement with your dollars instead of forum posts.

Um, you don’t have to do what you don’t want to do.

I personally hate the PvP portion of the Living Story, so I just played it a couple of times just to see what’s it all about and then I never bother with it again.

As for the Pinatas, you don’t have to run around and complete the achievement in one day — it was meant for your to do it everyday. If you pop 10 every day, you’d be done in 15 days. You’re the one who forced yourself to pop them all in one day that’s why you’re thinking that it has to be repeated 100 times.

And I’m sure, you’ve ran around more than 100 times mining nodes. So the question is, why are your running around mining nodes?

What I also want is what I pay for… not to pay for the chance to obtain something I want.

It’s not a bait-and-switch. Anet posted what you get BEFORE you spend your money. If you don’t want it, then don’t buy it. Buy something without chances like Make-over kits and character slots.

Would you rather have them sell the keys to open the coffer for a chance of getting something good like the BLC? That way, you get what you pay for…a key.

We clear? …I can guarentee I’m not alone in this either.

I can also guarantee that you are all alone on this one.

See what I did there? I’m assuming without supporting evidence. You might want to consider that next time.

You do understand that this is a free to play game, right? How exactly do you expect them to afford to continue it if they aren’t concerned with their “profit margins” as you say?

I have to agree with those above. You don’t speak for the community, you speak for yourself and some of the community may agree with you. I, as part of the community, do not, in any way. I enjoy the content they’re creating. I could not care less if it’s a reskinned versions of previous events because I enjoyed the event the first time around. If I enjoyed the original event why would I not enjoy it with a different look? The only thing about this even that disappoints me is the lack of a jumping puzzle.

I 100% support ANet taking advantage of stupid people that are willing to spend money on something they can easily farm for free. It’s not ANet’s fault that these people believe that something you pay for should be worth more and don’t understand that when the chance per box is the same the chance of getting anything out of even a great number of them is always going to be low.

I still wish Moa Racing was less expensive.

I wasn’t being rude, or at least didn’t intend to, so sorry if you took it this way.
Just that you speak in name of “the community”, which I am part of, and I don’t agree. If you don’t want to be called on it, never ever begin a post with “most people want…” or “everyone think…”, even with words like “correct me if I’m wrong”. It will irk a lot of people 100% of the time, because in fact you don’t read mind, you don’t have stats on the community (remember the forums are just the tip of the community’s iceberg), nothing but your own feeling about the thing (and that’s totally alright!). So state it as is instead of using all of the user base to push your feedback forward.
Personnal feedback is a good thing, why disguising it ?

please if you don’t mind answer a few of the following questions:

1. Content although diffrent and “enjoyable” as stated by yourself has however been very simular from one event to the other?

2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”

1. The content was different and enjoyable. I don’t see what more could be said. Only that I remember the Lunatic Inquisition, the Dragon Ball, the Molten Facility, and I can’t put together enough common points to see, well, your point :P (sorry for the bad joke)

2. As been explained before. I am part of the community you think you speak for, but I am not the entirety of it and therefore won’t speak in it’s name.

I do not really agree that the content has been very similar to one another. No more similar than different levels or areas in any other game.

Naturally there are similarities, because it is in the same universe. It is also a living story that is evolving, so each step should theoretically be a small incremental change from the last.

The first couple months of living story = running around talking to people, scavenging a bit
Then came Braham and Rox with solo instances and a bit of story to get us going

Then came Molten Weapon Facility which ended the Braham and Rox story ark in a group dungeon

Then came Southsun where it was a massive farmfest on a single island with major MF boosts and repeatable events in open world. This also added a crab toss mini game.

Then came a single boss fight with a few different tactics from the weapon

Then came an entire continent wide festival with a betting race and other activities (dragonball, pinata’s) and loot drops everywhere.

I really don’t think that any of them are all that similar. They range from solo to group, from small instance to open world, from 1 zone to entire continent etc..

The only similar thing is weapon skin + RNG box, and even that has changed a bit every time (in terms of both appearance of weapon and how the RNG box works).

I think you missed the point, I didn’t say anything was particularly challenging but any content added provides something to do and any chance is better than no chance… P2W creates an even shorter experience and twice as many whiners when there is nothing to do cos they bought it all… then again what some players find easy might be found challenging to others.. see what I did there.
If they made the skins to easy then what’s the point of having them rare…. challenge isn’t just about how hard it is to kill something its also about how hard it is to obtain something… look what has happened to rare items in game now that they are guaranteed drops all over the place.
Other MMO put raids into game in order for players to attempt to gear up.. GW2 didn’t want that approach, instead they put skins out there offering nothing more than cosmetic challenge.. if we can all just run an event open a coffer and expect to loot them then that cosmetic challenge is simply meaningless.. within a few days everyone will look exactly same.. that isn’t the point of skins they are there to be worked for or if you choose to try the easy route, you play the game of chance.
