Fireworks Event
During the first weekend, between 9am PDT June 14 and 9am PDT June 17th, a grand fireworks show will repeat every two hours. Players who witness the finale will be awarded a container holding three account-bound commemorative dragon helms, one for each armor class in the game.

They ran every 2 hours, at “dawn” on the server time (which most likely didn’t match your local time) and lasted for 5-10 min. You knew it was close (<30min) when the sky was pitch black, the rest of the time it was an orange-ish color.
sigh
so because I didnt do it over the weekend, this is forever beyond my reach, really disappointed, have not missed a single event acheivement till now, but June is a really busy time for some of us and to have it only available for a weekend when the entire festival runs till July 17th or something is REALLY disappointing

No offense, and I really do just mean this objectively. Everyone has their own schedule and times when they just can’t do something. This is just a game, and real life should be more important. Does it suck that you missed the event to get the free helms, yes. But some people have a busy time at X time, others at X+1 time. Eventually you need to have a cut off, and at least it was “well” advertised in advance. And having an mini event for a full weekend is much better than having it a 1 time event. All I can say is hopefully, you like the helm better next year and are able to make it then.
@Ixen Darastix if you makes you feel any better I missed the first Southsun event. The one where the actually launched southsun and a lot of people got precursors at. Which Im totally not bitter at all about. I mean Ive only been playing this game since beta and still dont have a legendary or any hopes of getting one until they finally quit dragging their feet with this kitten scavenger hunt. Sigh. I digress.
Anyway sorry you missed this event. Again if it makes you feel any better the helm in my opinion anyway, only looks good on large races and god forbid your norn has a cool beard cause apparently the teeth on the stupid helm shave that awesome manly beard right off and leaves your poor Norn looking like some straight laced shmuck.

So there was a 5-10 minute window every 2 hours over 2-3 days to stand in a city to get this achievement and if you played all weekend but didn’t sit in Lion’s Arch during that magical 5-10 minute window you miss out? Brilliant game design right there. Totally engaging. I can see how this is so innovative and changing the face of the MMO genre.
I say bring them back on the 4th of July. But don’t make it an achievement or part of the storyline.
Anet is based is the US with US employees. So doing nothing on the 4th of July would be treason.

To be fair, that’s how every gw1 finale went (I realize this isn’t a finale, but still). But, at least there they were timed via real time, not server time, which we can’t check (not to mention if you were unlucky and got thrown into overflow, with it’s own, different server time). I don’t think a lot of us would have minded so much, if there was a more reliable way to check the time. Hopefully when they do things like this in the future it will be on real time.
You could’ve logged into the game and just auto-run yourself into a corner in LA before going to bed. When you wake up, you have the achievement.

You know, it pays to have friends and guilds to keep track of this.
Guild chat was like: sky’s getting dark get your butt over here.
Who needs fireworks?
Invite to overflow?
Yep, also missed this one. Kinda lame to have such a short period of time to obtain it, hopefully they add it on the 4th on july (without a reward, just the achievement) for people who missed it.
Its a shame I cant gift/sell mine since I wont be using them (they don’t “fit” with any of my characters)

Same, my asura warrior in training is using the heavy one, but the light and medium are sitting gathering dust in my bank along with the flower and tentacle backpacks and probably soon to be joined by the shattered holographic wings (they’d be perfect for my guardian if only they weren’t flapping all the time).
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I would just like some like a “hat vendor” from gw1. Not for every festive skin, just the ones that you can get via achievements. For those not familiar, you’d show your hat to the NPC and then you could get back the skin whenever you wanted for a small amount of coin. It’d be nice to have this for all of the back pieces and helms we’ve been getting.
