Guild Wars 2

I get my holographic dragon wings cover from a holographic monster drop (very lucky:)) but i dont know if use it then allow me to upgrade the back to ascended or infusion version.
For exemple if i use it on a fractal capacitor exo then can i upgrade it to ascended with the normal recipe gift+globs+mist essence?
Same from ascended to infuded (+5ar)?

Ps: its changes the backpiece name and picture icon?
So its more like a trasmutation or a simple dye?
Cause i never use cover of wintersday or fused for weapons so i dont know how they work

It’s like a Transmutation, yes. Or an Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
After you apply it you would use a Transmutation Crystal (if 80, or a Stone if below 80) and Transmute it to another piece of gear when it’s time to upgrade. This should help:

If you put the skin on a fractal capacitor, you can still upgrade that capacitor, but doing so will destroy the skin.

So if i use it on an ascended back item and then i want to infuded it with 5ar but keep the wings skin i need a second back item already infused to trasmutate it.
otherwise i lose the skin right? very bad :’(
they should do this covers with infinite charges so u can use it infinite time
